Unix Administrator

Provides overall support and maintenance of operating systems and network connectivity for all UNIX systems. Monitors system performance on a daily basis to ensure adequate response times for production applications. Establishes and documents procedures to ensure data integrity including system fail-over and backup/recovery. : Provides reliable backup services. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of UNIX servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines, and procedures. Provides recommendations to management on changes, upgrades, and new hardware as required. Provides support to vendors and application programmers as necessary. Maintains current operating systems, PTF levels, and patch versions that comply with vendor requirements. Coordinates hardware repairs with appropriate vendors on supported platforms as necessary. Performs research and development on new products, technologies, and operating systems as required.

Web Content Administrator

Composes and develops written and graphical content for website to provide information on products and services or entertainment to site visitors. Manages content of website by gathering information and integrating data from other departments. Develops user interface and design standards, including improvement of features, to attract visitors to the website. This position is less technical than Webmaster or Web Developer because of lesser knowledge and responsibilities for site programming code. This job typically requires a degree in journalism, marketing, graphic design, or a related field.: Monitors trends and activities on World Wide Web to develop guidelines to increase presence and improve design and usability. Works closely with other departments, such as marketing and engineering, to ensure that site content is accurate. May create links to other websites.

Web Developer

Controls website design and creation. Plans, designs, develops, tests, edits, maintains, and documents look and flow of websites. Interviews clients to help them clarify their goals for establishing a website. Designs or supervises design of digitized images, banners, bullets, charts, image maps and other graphics to enhance appearance of site. Applies knowledge of programming techniques and computer internet systems. Typically requires a four-year college degree in field of specialty; however, some companies may accept equivalent education and experience combined.: Educates clients about the similarities and differences between Internet communication and other forms of marketing and public relations efforts. Custom tailors a plan for a proposed site using combination of graphic and written material, and modifies proposal as necessary until client is satisfied. Writes, or edits and formats, copy to present clients' message effectively. Develops video and audio enhancements if desired by client. Works with clients to select a domain name and registers the chosen name. Carries out functions of an Internet service provider (ISP) to reduce amount of technical expertise needed or trains personnel to operate and update site on an independent basis. Provides marketing and promotion services. Updates and expands information on website to attract repeat users. Meets on a regular basis to evaluate and modify site as it seems appropriate. Typical background requirements include knowledge in the field of computer science along with advanced knowledge of various web-enabling computer languages. Converts project specifications into sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps for coding into language that can be processed by computer, applying knowledge of computer programming techniques and computer languages. Applies knowledge of database design standards and database management. Enters program codes into computer system. Enters commands into computer to run and test programs. Determines if project requires creating a series of new programs or modifying existing programs that access data stored in databases. Observes display screen to detect syntax or logic errors during program test, or uses diagnostic software to detect errors. Replaces, deletes, or modifies codes to correct errors. Analyzes, reviews, and alters program to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections. Writes manual to describe installation and operating procedures. Assists in solving operating problems with site. Reads manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet client's site requirements.

Web Administrator

Monitors daily operation and administration of internal or external websites, ensuring system is available for internet traffic. Resolves any encountered problems. Responsible for evaluating, developing, and maintaining, along with usage of, file servers and related systems. Manages security, system performance, and system backup. Requires knowledge of operating systems and server software. Usual requirement is a four-year college degree in field of specialty; however, some organizations may accept equivalent education and experience combined.: Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment that meets establishment requirements. Enters diagnostic commands into computer to determine nature of problem, and reads codes on screen to diagnose problem. Enters operating commands into computer to restart program. Records number of daily data communications transactions, number of problems, logs and other statistics. Develops and writes procedures for installation, use, and solving problems of communications hardware and software. May assist in presenting to management recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment. May establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards and ensures their conformance with information systems and company's objectives. May oversee or assist in installation of communications hardware. May perform minor equipment repairs or troubleshoot as needed.

Client Server Programmer

Develops, encodes, tests, documents, and installs complex programs to support an organization's client/server software systems. Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems.: Prepares complex program specifications and diagrams and develops coding logic flowcharts. Plans and accomplishes goals by required deadlines. Works at a highly-technical level on most phases of client/server programming activities. Serves as an expert in one or more client/server programs and advises others in the group. Interacts daily with users on various management levels. May lead and direct the work of others.

Shroud Web Inspector

Inspects parachutes and lines to detect flaws in materials and fabrication: spreads parachute or part, such as canopy and shroud webbing, on glass-topped table or over fluorescent light, and examines them for flaws, such as defective material and stitching, crooked hems, and tears. Pulls on shroud lines and suspension cords to ensure tightness of knots. Rips out defective stitching, hems, seams, and taped edges, and trims excess fabric at edges, using scissors. Pins pieces of colored cloth over defective areas. May be designated according to part inspected as canopy inspector; hem inspector; shroud-web inspector.

Web Press Operator

Sets up and operates multiunit, web-fed rotary press to print newspapers, books, and periodicals according to written specifications. : Locks printing plates on printing cylinder and threads loose end of paper supply roll (web) through and around rollers to cutter and folder. Adjusts compensators to guide paper over rollers and cylinders. Inspects printed sheets visually after registration or position printing and readjusts guides and controls to rectify spacing errors. Adjusts feed controls to rotate cylinder into position where plate locking mechanism is accessible. Unlocks plates and replaces with make-over plates according to directions marked on plate regarding location and time of printing. Rethreads paper through press if web breaks (press stops automatically if web breaks) and readjusts tension rollers. Operates pasting device to splice end of new paper roll to depleted roll. Inspects printed material visually during production and readjusts controls to correct irregular ink distribution, faulty cuts or folds. Replaces cutting blades, worn or damaged ink rolls, and fills ink wells. Cleans, inspects, and lubricates moving parts of press. May supervise and instruct apprentices. May load supply rolls of paper in press at beginning and during run. May install paper rolls in press and adjusting controls to regulate tension of paper. May adjust ink controls to secure specified color registration. May operate press from central control console.

Process Server

Serves court orders and processes, such as summonses and subpoenas. Receives papers to be served, locates person to be served, and delivers document.: Receives papers to be served from magistrate, court clerk, or attorney. Locates person to be served, using telephone directories, state, county, and city records, or public utility records, and delivers document. Records time and place of delivery. May deliver general messages and documents between courts and attorneys.

Coffee Server Cafeteria or Restaurant

Carries trays from food counters to tables for cafeteria patrons. Carries dirty dishes to kitchen. Wipes tables and seats with dampened cloth. Sets tables with clean linens, sugar bowls, and condiments. May wrap clean silver in napkins. May circulate among diners and serve coffee and be designated coffee server, cafeteria or restaurant.

Banquet Server

Serves meals to patrons according to established rules of etiquette, working in formal setting: presents menu to diner, suggesting dinner courses, appropriate wines, and answering questions regarding food preparation. Writes order on check or memorizes it. Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars. Garnishes and decorates dishes preparatory to serving. Serves patrons from chafing dish at table. Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed. Totals bill and accepts payment or refers patron to cashier ii. May carve meats, bone fish and fowl, and prepare flaming dishes and desserts at patron's table. May be designated waiter/waitress, banquet when serving at banquets.
