Operations Research Director

Directs and coordinates activities of operations research department, using engineering and scientific research methods to assist engineering, operations, sales, or a major division of an organization in identifying means for attaining improvement, cost reduction, and/or optimization of performance. Reviews analyses of activities, costs, and operations to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives. Assists Top Research Officer in planning, developing, and administering policies, procedures, and objectives of the operations research functions in accordance with organization's objectives. Typically reports Top Research Officer and directly oversees Operation Research Manager.: Confers with Top Research Officer and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions. Directs research surveys and studies and reviews compilation and analysis proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures. Submits proposals considered feasible to management for further consideration and recommends allocation of funds to support them. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project. Prepares reports on progress and recommends the addition, expansion, or discontinuance of projects. Prepares and administers operations research budget. May recruit, hire, and train department staff, evaluate staff performance, and develop goals and objectives for staff. May negotiate contracts with consulting firms to perform research studies.

Banking Head of Retail Banking

Directs and coordinates, through subordinate managerial personnel, activities of retail consumer products and services division. Scope of responsibilities typically include new accounts, branch operations, customer service, marketing, personal banking, private banking, and tellers. Acts under authority and responsibility delegated by corporate executive officer. Directs, plans, controls, and coordinates the operating activities of an organization toward the achievement of established objectives. Responsible for the design, operation, and improvement of the system that creates and delivers the organization's products or services. Oversees and adjusts organization's processes and operations as necessary to ensure efficient and effective execution of policies and procedures. Operations Research Manager

Manages activities of operations research department of industrial or non-profit firm in accordance with established policies to provide improvement, cost reduction, and/or optimization of performance. Provides guidance and technical assistance in engineering and scientific research methods to staff. First level supervisors and/or Operations Research Analysts typically report to this position.: Monitors research projects through staff's preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences. May recruit, hire, and train department staff, evaluate staff performance, and develop goals and objectives for staff.

Loss Prevention Retail Manager

Manages all aspects of organization's loss prevention activities, such as asset protection, store safety, training, and oversight of security equipment. Implements and coordinates security and theft prevention programs designed to ensure the protection of company assets and increase profitability. : Reviews reported loss events such as shoplifting, robbery or burglary, destruction or sabotage of company property, employee theft or fraud, or any other internal or external event resulting in loss of company assets. Modifies loss prevention plan to protect against repeat occurrences of loss events. Selects and trains loss prevention personnel, with emphasis on professionalism and safety. Coordinates investigations of loss events, and works with local law enforcement and other prosecuting agencies. Maintains records and reports of loss events, and monitors loss prevention department's contribution to total store shortage reduction. Prepares training materials and may provide training during new employee orientation.

Computer Operations Director

Plans, schedules, and directs the development, production, and administrative processing of the organization's computer operations. Assigns and schedules work, or delegates work to subordinate managers and supervisors, and reviews work. Ensures rapid, accurate, and efficient processing of corporation's workload by use of a computer-based system. Builds systems capability that reflects the highest state of technical sophistication consistent with the corporation's needs and budget. Ensures security of company's database. Recommends insights that contribute to overall company strategic management. Ensures corporation makes maximum use of the general system by providing for the education and training of the principal users. This position typically reports to the Top Information Technology Officer and normally has managers reporting to it.: Consults with management to determine information requirements of management, scientists, or engineers, determine boundaries and priorities of new projects, and discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions. Confers with department heads involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and further define nature of project. Confers with computer analysts or engineers to define equipment needs. Reviews project feasibility studies. Maintains a professional, technical, and clerical staff capable of meeting current and future needs. Establishes work standards. Interprets policies, purposes, and goals of organization to subordinates. Prepares progress reports to inform management of project status and deviation from goals. Contracts with management specialists, technical personnel, or vendors to solve problems. Reviews reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunctions, and maintenance to ascertain costs and plan department operating changes. Analyzes department workflow and workers' job duties to recommend reorganization or departmental realignment within company. Participates in decisions concerning staffing and promotions within data processing department. Directs training of subordinates. Keeps current on new developments in information technology, and plans for future upgrades and organizational changes. May prepare proposals and solicit sale of systems analysis, programming, and computer services to outside firms. May assist staff to diagnose and solve computer equipment problems. May participate in technical projects, such as writing equipment specifications or developing computer programs for specified applications.

Zone/District Retail Manager

Manages operations of retail stores in assigned district or zone. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring area and store activities, such as sales, expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status of store activities. Typically this job oversees Area Managers; the next level in the organization above this job is a Regional Manager. Analyzes area budgets to identify needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budgets funds. Formulates pricing policies on merchandise according to requirements for profitability of store operations. May recruit, hire, and train Area and Store Managers, evaluate performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. May coordinate sales promotion activities. May answer customers' complaints or inquiries.

Regional Sales Manager Retail

Oversees operations of retail stores in assigned region. Manages the strategic direction of stores within the assigned region, within broad company objectives. Develops and implements short- and long-term marketing plans for sales growth. Typically this job oversees Zone or District Managers; the next level in the organization above this job is typically a Division Vice President or General Manager. NOTE--ERI's findings based on sales volume.: Monitors profit and loss and maximizes return on investment. Stimulates, motivates, and develops employees for future growth. May recruit, hire, train, evaluate Zone/District Managers' performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Retail Area Manager

Manages operations of retail stores in assigned geographic area. Supervises Store Managers. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring store activities, such as sales, expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status of store activities. The next organization level above the Area Manager is typically a District or Zone Manager. NOTE--ERI's findings based on sales volume.: Interprets company policy to employees and enforces safety regulations. Recruits, hires, and trains store managers to operate store according to corporate policies. Analyzes store budgets to identify needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budgets funds. Monitors cash flow, sales performance, inventory control, cash with sales receipts, and operating records. Ensures compliance with established security, sales, and record keeping procedures and practices. May recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. May formulate pricing policies to ensure profitability. May coordinate sales promotion activities and prepare, or supervise preparation of, merchandise displays and advertising copy. May answer customers' complaints or inquiries.

Banking Head of Operations

Manages and coordinates activities of personnel involved in performing internal operations in departments or branch offices of financial institution. Assigns duties to operations personnel to ensure efficient operation of department or branch.
