Physician Practices Executive

Directs and oversees the physician practices operations. Creates and executes strategic plans and provides business development around physician services in particular. Assesses the various physician practices and designs and implements programs to increase revenue and improve and enhance physician services overall. Monitors and manages compliance issues and budget variances. Oversees a large staff, including Medical Secretaries, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, Office Managers, and others.: Completes the annual operating and capital budgets with the Executive Director and the Budget Manager. Formulates long-term strategic plans and business development programs for operational needs. Evaluates practice efficiency, including all personnel (physicians and clinical and administrative support staff), utilizing accepted quality measures, productivity standards, skill mix comparisons, and patient satisfaction survey data. Participates in physician recruitment activities, physician compensation models, and contract negotiations, as needed. Collaborates with Physicians and clinical staff to address and respond to patient care needs and issues. Implements new operational models and structures to reduce costs, improve quality, and enhance service to patients. Participates in committees, as assigned. Organizes, directs and controls the operations of an integrated physician/hospital network that provides contracting opportunities for managed care payers.: Organizes, directs and controls the entire provider network function including network development, contracting, credentialing, provider relations, and provider services. Establishes physician and hospital recruitment priorities, determines compensation methodologies and negotiates contracts. Ensures a comprehensive, cost-effective, and accessible provider network. Negotiates, administers, extends, terminates, and renegotiates contracts. Formulates and coordinates proposals. Coordinates activities of workers engaged in formulating bid proposals. Evaluates or monitors health outcome and contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations. Approves or rejects requests for deviations from contract specifications. Arbitrates claims or complaints occurring in performance of contracts. May serve as liaison officer to ensure fulfillment of obligations by contractors. Develops and maintains a network of relationships with leaders involved in the integrated network of physicians.

Physician Recruitment Director

Responsible for developing and implementing an integrated network of affiliated Physicians for the organization. Establishes Physician recruitment priorities, determines compensation methodologies, and negotiates Physician contracts. Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a health related field and five years of experience in health care.: Identifies, develops, and maintains recruitment sources. Maintains current knowledge of national and regional compensation trends for various Physician specialties. Develops staffing plans and projections. Develops and maintains a network of relationships with leaders involved in the integrated network of Physicians. Hires, develops, and motivates Physician Recruiters. Develops, monitors, and maintains the departmental budget.

Head of Physician Relations

Directs, implements and manages public relations programs to ensure maintenance of effective relationships with physicians within the community.: Directs and oversees programs designed to foster positive relations between physicians and the hospital or healthcare system. Actively promotes the organization among members of the medical community to establish partnerships and affiliations. Works with hospital leadership to establish short- and long-term strategic objectives that will achieve profits, growth, or other goals of the organization. Identifies strategic objectives for physician relations and communicates those objectives to subordinate management and staff. Uses knowledge of hospital/physician practice industry trends and related strategies to enhance the competitive position of the Hospital or healthcare system and its affiliated physician practices. Leverages positive change to enhance physician recruitment and retention. Develops strong, close working relationships with key physician stakeholders to positively influence stakeholders toward positive change in light of strategic imperatives. Develops strategic plans, market assessment, facility/site planning to support the Hospital or healthcare system in its strategy for continued expansion of primary care and other key specialties within the patient service area. This position may require experience in physician contracting, reimbursement and incentive models to promote goal congruence among physicians and other key stakeholders as well as physician satisfaction. Achieves desired results through the use of budgets, proper contracts, and efficient decision making. This position typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and at least 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Physician Family

Provides comprehensive medical services for members of family, regardless of age or sex, on a continuing basis. Examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment. Elicits and records information about patient's medical history. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient.: Administers or prescribes treatments and medications. Promotes health by advising patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease. Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases. Provides prenatal care to pregnant women, delivers babies, and provides postnatal care to mothers and infants. Performs surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency. Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well-being.

Industrial Physician

Directs, plans, and coordinates the organization's medical activities such as diagnosing and treating work-related illnesses and injuries of employees, and conducting fitness-for-duty physical examinations. Develops and recommends medical and health policies.: Attends patients in plant or hospital, and reexamines disability cases periodically to verify progress. Oversees maintenance of case histories, health examination reports, and other medical records. Formulates and administers health programs. Inspects facilities and makes recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards. May advise company's benefits administration involving unusual medical cases or case management. May advise company's benefits staff in development of preventive health care.

Physician Assistant

Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. This position requires a degree in health sciences.: Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance. May have training in a particular medical specialty.

Physician

Inspects and makes recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards. Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. Performs minor surgery. May make house and emergency calls to attend to patients unable to visit office or clinic. May conduct physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.

Emergency Physician

Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries immediately in response to acute illness and injury. Examines patient to determine medical problem, using physical findings, diagnostic images, laboratory test results, and patient's statements as diagnostic aids.: Refers patient to surgeon or other specialist when need for further medical assistance is indicated.

Infectious Disease Physician

Diagnoses and treats diseases such as STDs, hepatitis, influenza, Lyme disease, and food-borne diseases caused by the entrance into the body of organisms such as bacteria, fungi, protozoans, and viruses that grow and multiply there. Examines patient to determine medical problem, utilizing physical findings, diagnostic images, laboratory test results, and patient's statements as diagnostic aids.: Orders specific tests to detect abnormalities. Discusses problem with patient and prescribes medication. Refers patient to other specialists when indicated.
