Technical Support Analyst

Provides technical support to employees in information processing departments. Assigns and coordinates work projects, such as converting to new hardware or software. Evaluates work load and capacity of computer system to determine feasibility of expanding or enhancing computer operations. Makes recommendations for improvements in computer system. Reviews completed projects or computer programs to ensure that goals are met and that programs are compatible with other programs already in use. Trains workers in use of new software or hardware. Requires a bachelor's degree in field of specialty. Excludes paraprofessional positions.: Develops work goals and department projects. Designates staff assignments, establishes work priorities, and evaluates cost and time requirements. Reviews and tests programs written by programmer analysts or computer programmers to ensure that programs meet objectives and specifications. Consults with quality assurance analysts to ensure that program follows establishment standards. Modifies, tests, and corrects existing programs. Evaluates and tests vendor-supplied software packages for mainframe computer or microcomputers to determine compatibility with existing system, ease of use, and if software meets user needs. Enters commands into computer to place programs in production status. Inactivates, individually or in combination with, each component of computer system, such as central processing unit, tape drives, and mainframe coolers. Tests computer system to determine criticality of component loss. Prioritizes importance of components and writes recommendations for recovering losses and using backup equipment. Assists user to resolve computer-related problems, such as inoperative hardware or software. Trains workers in use of new software or hardware. Reads technical journals or manuals and attends vendor seminars to learn about new computer hardware and software. Writes project reports and documentation for new or modified software and hardware.

Financial-Decision Support Analyst

Identifies, analyzes, and monitors issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity.: Uses computer software for research, audit, and analysis of clinical and business data to help identify and understand opportunities to improve processes and outcomes. Selects appropriate statistical methods. Provides accurate and useful reports about potential business opportunities. Remains current on data sources and analysis tools. This position typically requires a Bachelor's and three years of clinical or financial analysis work experience in a healthcare environment. May be responsible for recommending strategic alternatives and developing operational plans.

Director Child Support Enforcement Program

Directs agency or major function of public or voluntary organization providing services in social welfare field to individuals, groups, or community: works with board of directors and committees to establish policies and programs and administers such programs. Determines policies and defines scope of services to be rendered within legislative regulations for public welfare agency functioning without board of directors. Assumes responsibility for development and administration of standards and procedures related to personnel, including staff development, budget, and physical facilities. Interprets agency purpose and program to community. Establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and organizations in community toward meeting community needs and services. Prepares, distributes, and maintains variety of reports. Inspects agency operations and facilities to ensure agency meets standards and procedures criteria. May direct or coordinate fund raising, public relations, and fact finding or research activities. Employed in settings such as child welfare, community welfare councils, family casework, youth serving agencies, health organizations, informal education, and recreation, including scouting and y's, public welfare, and fund raising. May work in specific area of social welfare and be designated director, child support enforcement program; director, community center; director, social service; director, rehabilitation program; director, mental health agency.

Assistant Technical Director

Assists Technical Director in coordination and supervision activities of radio or television studio and control-room personnel to ensure technical quality of picture and/or sound for programs originating in studio, from remote pickup points, or on a live stage. Assists the Technical Director in setting up sound, lighting, and the construction of sets, scenes, and props, as well as in the use of lighting instruments and sound equipment.: Plans and arranges for special effects requested by Director. Communicates effectively with technical crew and reacts quickly to changing environments. Assists in overseeing work of technical personnel engaged in controlling and maintaining lights, audio, and video control equipment, microphones, and cameras. Supervises design and construction of scenes or props and set or prop changes. Observes picture through monitor and gives instruction to Video Operator concerning shading or Camera Operator concerning composition desired. May control switcher-mixer unit to switch cameras, fade from one picture to another, or superimpose one image upon another as indicated by script or as cued by the Program Director.

R&D Manager (Non-Technical)

Manages research and development staff and programs with improvement and cost reduction ideas and the introduction of products, processes, and services. Recommends potential of new, or ways to improve existing products, processes, and services. Research is not highly technical in nature and does not require advanced studies in engineering, science, or math. Typically reports to the Research & Development Director and has the Research & Development Supervisor reporting to this position.: Researches products, processes, and/or services of comparable competitors. Reviews and evaluates research results and makes appropriate recommendations to management. Keeps management informed on progress of projects. Develops and monitors project budgets and schedules. Controls research expenditures within approved budget limitations. Reviews and evaluates research results. Prepares reports on progress and recommends the addition, expansion, or discontinuance of projects or programs. May recruit, hire, and train department staff, evaluate staff performance, and develop goals and objectives for staff.

Manager R&D (Technical)

Manages, coordinates, and provides strategic planning of activities concerned with research and development of new or improved concepts, ideas, basic data on, and applications for organization's products, services, or ideologies including engineering research and development programs. Manages the research, identification, evaluation, and initial development of new products or services. Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals, such as objective or purpose of projects, applications that can be utilized from findings, cost of projects, and equipment and manpower requirements. Typically reports to the Research & Development Director and has Research & Development Supervisor reporting to this position.: Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures. Submits proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and recommends allocation of funds from department budget. Monitors projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences in order to inform management of current status of each project. Reports revenue and profitability to upper management. Keeps current on competitors' products and services. May be responsible for the overall implementation of new products or services and/or improvement of existing products or services. May engage market research firms to perform studies.

Manager Technical Publications

Manages and coordinates activities of workers engaged in preparation and layout of a technical publication and ensures the quality and timely delivery of required material. Studies materials to determine most effective form of presentation and number and type of illustrations required, in accordance with specifications and accepted standards of composition, limitations of equipment, and available funds. Activities include, but are not limited to, various media types, such as desktop publishing, documentation manuals and software, electronic publishing, illustrations, marketing materials and activities, repair guides and manuals, sales materials, software presentations, translations, users manuals, and related materials. Supervisory levels may report to this position. : Coordinates technical liaison services between management, production department, sales department, and customers with newly developed techniques or practices in processing company products, and to inform customers of new types, specifications, and end-uses of products. Confers with production department managers to assist in specific classification of products from quality assurance position, report on new product or process technology of competitors, and to discuss new specifications required by customers. May direct investigation of customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of products. Records, analyzes, and informs concerned personnel of production quality assurance, and sales departments of status and disposition of customer complaints and claims. Negotiates settlement of claims for which company is responsible, within limits prescribed by management. May survey potential markets to increase sales.

Studies schedules and estimates time, cost, and labor estimates for products, services, and/or completion of job assignments. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring work activities, such as preparation of records of expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status of work activities. A bachelor's degree is typically required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job.: Analyzes department budget to identify budget needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budget funds. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces safety regulations. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet department deadlines. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. Recruits, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
