Chief Chemist

Plans and directs activities of chemical laboratory in industrial, research, governmental, or other organization: plans, coordinates, and directs programs for research, product development, improvement of manufacturing processes; or for analysis and testing of substances to support criminal investigations, to detect toxins, or to verify composition of manufactured and agricultural products, and natural resources, such as air, soil, and water. Coordinates research and analysis activities according to applicable government regulations, manufacturing processes, or other considerations, and approves modification of formulas, standards, specifications, and processes. Data Entry Supervisor

Supervises data entry operators engaged in inputting data into various storage media, manipulating existing data, editing data, and proofing new entries into database for accuracy. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policies and practices. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. Ensures work is performed within established policies, procedures, and standards.: Consults with data processing personnel on ways to expedite workflow and improve productivity. Confers with user departments to implement controls and schedules and resolve delivery problems. Advises management on problems relating to data entry. Responsible for data entry improvements in quality and efficiency. Compiles, sorts, and verifies accuracy of data to be entered. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Data Entry Operator Lead

Guides data entry operators in the data entry process and in solving work problems. Operates computer or other data entry device to enter data in computer-readable format. Inputs accounting or statistical data from source documents into computer, using data entry device, such as keyboard or optical scanner, and following format displayed on screen.: Compares data entered with source documents, or re-enters data in verification format on screen to detect errors. Deletes incorrectly entered data, and re-enters correct data. Keeps record of work completed. Compiles, sorts, and verifies accuracy of data to be entered. May assist in role of group leader as required.

Data Control Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in keeping control records and scheduling data to be processed on data entry equipment. Schedules flow of data between data entry and electronic data-processing machines. Confers with originators of source data and data-processing personnel to ensure conformance to programming schedules and policies. Assigns workers to duties, such as arranging data in specified sequence, assigning codes, and updating files used in preparing recurring reports and master lists. : Examines data for discrepancies, corrects errors, and reconciles data to ensure accuracy at various stages of data processing. Studies schedules and estimates time, cost, and labor estimates for completion of job assignments. Trains new employees in duties.

May specialize in particular area or field of work. May clean, purify, refine, and otherwise prepare pharmaceutical compounds for commercial distribution and develop new drugs and medications.

Chemist Food

Conducts research and analysis concerning chemistry of foods to develop and improve foods and beverages and to ensure compliance with food laws and standards of quality and purity. Usual requirement is a bachelor's degree in a field of chemistry. Positions covered by this definition are characterized by the inclusion of work that requires an understanding of both theories and principles. Excludes paraprofessional positions.: Experiments with natural and synthetic materials or byproducts to develop new foods, additives, preservatives, anti-adulteration agents, and related products. Studies effects of various methods of processing, preservation, and packaging on composition and properties of foods, such as color, texture, aroma, taste, shelf life, and nutritive content. Tests food and beverage samples, such as starch, sugar, cereals, beer, canned and dehydrated food products, meats, vegetables, dairy foods, and other products to ensure compliance with food laws and standards of quality and purity. May perform, or supervise workers performing, quality control tests in food processing, canning, freezing, brewing, or distilling. May specialize in particular food or process.

Data Librarian

Maintains data for an organization, often in the form of magnetic, audio, laser, visual, hard copy, or other forms and assists groups and individuals in locating and obtaining materials. Furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules, and services. Explains and assists in use of reference sources and equipment. : Describes or demonstrates procedures for searching for data. Searches files to locate information. Issues and receives materials for circulation or for use. Maintains reference and circulation materials. Answers correspondence on special reference subjects. May compile list of data materials according to subject or interests. May select, order, catalog, and classify materials.
