Clinical Research Executive

Responsible for management review and control of comprehensive clinical research programs to increase scientific knowledge on medical-related topics.: Confers with management to establish strategic program directions, allocation of resources, projects costs, and timeframes. Clinical Research Manager

Oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of ongoing and new clinical research studies. Assists in all aspects of study design, implementation, and administration. Plans and organizes the daily operations of the Research Department, to include protocol and systems, budgeting, staffing, and grant/contract administration. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer. : Provides day-to-day technical leadership and administrative supervision to clinical and technical staff engaged in research. Ensures regulatory and scientific integrity of projects. Evaluates, monitors, and documents all study parameters. Provides initial contract review utilizing legal review and provides contract management. Forecasts product requirements for clinical trials. Organizes advisory and investigator meetings. Develops, implements, and evaluates specific research and data collection methodologies, protocols, systems, and techniques. Participates in experiment design. Develops quality standards and programs. Oversees budget review process and negotiations. Participates in staff hiring, provides training, allocates and coordinates work assignments, and evaluates performance of staff.

Clinical Services Director

Establishes appropriate levels of care and provides strategic direction and oversight of all clinical and educational programs in a hospice or home care organization. Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates outcomes of clinical service's strategic plans. Leads the development, implementation, and coordination of quality, cost effective patient care programs, contributing to excellent patient care, education, and outcomes. Typically requires licensure as a Registered Nurse with five years of clinical nursing experience.: Responsible for identifying and capitalizing on clinical program opportunities. Reviews quality assurance standards, studies existing policies and procedures, and interviews personnel and patients to evaluate effectiveness of quality assurance program. May report to Quality Assurance Head Hospital or a similar high-level position. Position typically requires a bachelor's degree in the field of nursing.: Serves as a professional resource to nursing staff. Writes quality assurance policies and procedures. Reviews and evaluates patients' medical records, applying quality assurance criteria. Selects specific topics for review, such as problem procedures, drugs, high volume cases, high risk cases, or other factors. May oversee personnel engaged in quality assurance review of medical records.

Supervisor Clinical Engineering

Oversees planning, implementing, directing, and controlling activities, operations, and programs in the Clinical Engineering department. Typically requires a college degree and technical proficiency/knowledge of concepts, operation, repairs, and clinical equipment maintenance that may be acquired through three years of related clinical engineering experience.: Develops routine periodic maintenance, quality assurance testing, calibration, performance criteria, and emergency service response that will ensure safe and proper use of clinical equipment. Provides clinical engineering training and monitors employee work to ensure proper maintenance and of clinical equipment. Plans, organizes, and distributes the department work assignments. May order supplies and maintain supply inventory

OB/GYN Clinical Nurse

Provides professional nursing care for patients in the obstetrical and gynecological departments. Performs total patient care in the labor room, delivery room, postpartum unit, and nursery. May collaborate with Psychiatrist and other specialists in developing treatment programs for patients. May instruct and direct students serving psychological internships in hospitals and clinics. May develop experimental designs and conduct research in the fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders. May serve as a consultant to industrial, social, educational, welfare, and other agencies on individual cases or in evaluation, planning, and development of mental health programs. May specialize in behavior problems and therapy, crime and delinquency, group therapy, individual diagnosis and therapy, mental deficiency, objective tests, projective techniques, or speech pathology.

Clinical Research Coordinator

Coordinates and participates in clinical research studies by performing a variety of complex activities involved in the collection, compilation, documentation, and analysis of clinical research data. Assists in the determination of guidelines for the collection of clinical data or administration of clinical studies. Coordinates and implements procedures for data collection from patient charts, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests and other sources. Typically requires a college degree in health sciences and three years of clinical or research experience. : Codes, evaluates, and interprets collected data and prepares appropriate documentation. Obtains blood samples, cultures, tissues, and other specimens for laboratory analysis. Ensures compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies. May schedule patients for study procedures.

Remains informed of other research begin conducted related to field of study. Scientists who work within a university setting are typically involved in the teaching of students. May be concerned with gaining research funding to continue with work or to extend studies.

Clinical Specialist Physical Therapy

Plans and administers advanced medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. Plans and coordinates physical therapy treatment programs for a diverse patient population having complex medical conditions including, but not limited to, brain injuries, amputations, and vision deficits. Integrates treatment plans with other disciplines, consulting with referring practitioners. Possesses advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills, exceeding that of a Physical Therapist, in treatment of a specific patient group or specific disability. Administers complex treatment, such as certain types of manual exercises and functional training, and monitors administration of other treatments.: Reviews physician's referral (prescription), patient's condition, and medical records to determine the physical therapy treatment required. Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs. Plans and prepares written treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data. Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities, such as nonmanual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistant and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses. Administers treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment such as hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. Evaluates effects of treatments at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Administers massage, applying knowledge of massage techniques and body physiology. Administers traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment. Records treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer. Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home. Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices, and recommends modification to Orthotist. Confers with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's health care. Teaches and mentors others in area of specialty. Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants, aides, and students. May conduct physical therapy research. May plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups. May plan and develop physical therapy research programs and participate in conducting research. May write technical articles and reports for publications. May teach physical therapy techniques and procedures in educational institutions. May plan, direct, and coordinate physical therapy program.
