Senior Vice President

Approves, revises, and implements overall corporate growth strategies and personnel activities. As title practices vary among organizations, this level may be called Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President, or other variations depending on the organization. In smaller organizations the Senior or Executive title may not exist and the position may be referred to as a Vice President. This position is distinguished in that it is responsible for a broad range of activities or functions in the organization and typically reports to the President/Chief Executive Officer. In larger organizations, Vice President level position(s) may report to the Executive Vice President.: Develops, recommends, evaluates and obtains approval of all major corporate personnel and operational plans and programs. May provide staff support services to operating groups in the areas of operations, distribution, personnel, and corporate office administrative services, and participate as a member of the Executive Committee in planning and controlling corporate growth and evaluating performance against objectives.

Computer Programming Director

Directs and reviews activities of employees engaged in analysis, coding, testing, documentation, and preparation of programs to process data and solve problems by use of computers. Assigns and schedules work, or delegates work to subordinate managers and supervisors, and reviews work. Recommends insights that contribute to overall company strategic management. Typically reports to IT Top Officer and managers of computer programming may report to this level.: Plans, develops, and establishes policies and objectives of programming function in accordance with objectives of organization. Confers with IT management and organization officials to plan business objectives, to develop organizational policies, and to coordinate functions. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring work activities, such as preparation of records of expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform upper management of current status or work activities. Establishes work standards. Interprets policies, purposes, and goals of organization to subordinates. Analyzes department workflow and workers' job duties to recommend department realignment within company. Participates in decisions concerning staffing and promotions within data processing department. Directs training of subordinates. May assist staff to solve computer programming problems. May participate in technical projects, such as developing computer programs for specified applications.

IT Computer Programming Director

Manages, organizes, and administers systems analysis and preparation of applications and operating systems programming to process data and solve problems by use of computers. Establishes priorities and schedules, and oversees and reviews work of systems analysis personnel and programming personnel. Reviews feasibility studies and time and cost estimates of new or revised systems. Assists in the development of standards, procedures, and operating systems applications. The manager level is typically the second level of management and may have first level supervisors reporting to his position; however, in smaller companies the manager may be a first level supervisor over subordinate staff.: Ensures projects are completed on time and according to company standards. Consults with personnel in other information systems groups to coordinate activities. Consults with management to clarify systems and programs intent, identify problems, suggest changes, and determine extent of application systems changes required. Develops a project plan and schedule with key milestones, contingency plans, workflow charts or diagrams, considering factors, such as resource requirements, computer storage capacity and speed, extent of peripheral equipment, and intended use of output data. Manages conversion of workflow charts to language that can be processed by computer and entering of program codes and test data into computer. Analyzes test runs on computer and supervises correction of coded program and input data. Manages the revision of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Compiles documentation of program development and subsequent revisions. Trains subordinates in systems analysis, feasibility studies, programming, and program coding. Prescribes standards for terms and symbols used to simplify interpretation of programs. Collaborates with computer manufacturers and other users to develop new programming methods. Prepares records and reports.

May report to director level, is typically the second level of management, and may have first level supervisors reporting to this position; however, in smaller companies the manager may be the first level supervisor over subordinate staff.: Directs daily operations of department and coordinates project activities with other departments. Meets with IT department heads, supervisors, systems analysis personnel, and user management to solicit cooperation, clarify program intent, and identify and resolve problems. Analyzes test runs on computer to correct or direct correction of coded program and input data. Revises or directs revision of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Prescribes standards for terms and symbols used to simplify interpretation of programs. Evaluates programming project proposals and assesses project feasibility. Collaborates with computer manufacturers and other users to develop new programming methods. Directs training of subordinates in programming and program coding. Develops and interprets organization goals, policies, and procedures, and reviews project plans. Approves, prepares, monitors, and adjusts department budget, and prepares required records and reports. Participates in staffing decisions.

Senior Physician Executive

Directs, plans, and coordinates activities of employees engaged in medical services. Position requires extensive experience as a medical doctor. Typically reports to Hospital Administrator and advises Hospital Administrator on matters related to medical services.: Interprets company policy to employees and enforces medical services and safety regulations. Advises staff and supervisors on administrative changes. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of medical service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Studies economic and statistical data in area of specialization. Typically requires a master's degree in the field of economics; however, some organizations may accept equivalent education and experience combined.: Devises methods and procedures for collecting and processing data, utilizing knowledge of available sources of data and various econometric and sampling techniques. Compiles data relating to research area, such as employment, productivity, and wages and hours. Reviews and analyzes economic data in order to prepare reports detailing results of investigation, and to stay abreast of economic changes. Organizes data into report format and arranges for preparation of graphic illustrations of research findings. Formulates recommendations, policies, or plans to aid in market interpretation or solution of economic problems, such as recommending changes in methods of agricultural financing, domestic, and international monetary policies, or policies that regulate investment and transfer of capital. May supervise and assign work to staff. May testify at regulatory or legislative hearings to present recommendations.

Lobbyist Senior

Represents a major client, usually at the national level, and provides strategic policy direction, and lobbies for client's interests on issues of major importance. Contacts and confers with members of legislature and other holders of public office to persuade them to support legislation favorable to client's interest. Studies proposed legislation to determine possible effect on interest of client, who may be a person, specific group, or general public. May direct lower level lobbyists.: Confers with legislators and officials to emphasize supposed weaknesses or merits of specific bills to influence passage, defeat, or amendment of measure, or introduction of legislation more favorable to client's interests. Contacts individuals and groups having similar interests in order to encourage them also to contact legislators and present views. Prepares news releases and informational pamphlets and conducts news conferences in order to state client's views and to inform public of features of proposed legislation considered desirable or undesirable. Plans and coordinates meetings between members and elected officials to discuss legislative issues and proposals and allow officials to respond to membership concerns. May contact regulatory agencies and testify at public hearings to enlist support for client's interests. May be legally required to register with governmental authorities as lobbyist and to submit reports of regulated expenditures incurred during lobbying activities. May attend and represent local organization at state and national association meetings. May instruct individuals or organization members in lobbying techniques.
