Fashion Coordinator

Promotes new fashions and coordinates promotional activities, such as fashion shows, to induce consumer acceptance: studies fashion and trade journals, travels to garment centers, attends fashion shows, and visits manufacturers and merchandise markets to obtain information on fashion trends. Consults with buying personnel to gain advice regarding type of fashions store will purchase and feature for season. Advises publicity and display departments of merchandise to be publicized. Selects garments and accessories to be shown at fashion shows. Provides information on current fashions, style trends, and use of accessories. May contract with models, musicians, caterers, and other personnel to manage staging of shows. May conduct teenage fashion shows and direct activities of store-sponsored club for teenage girls.

Designer Fashion

Designs men's, women's, and children's clothing and accessories. Analyzes fashion trends and predictions, confers with sales and management executives, compares leather, fabrics, and other apparel materials, and integrates findings with personal interests, tastes, and knowledge of design to create new designs for clothing, shoes, handbags, and other accessories. Sketches rough and detailed drawings of apparel and writes specifications describing factors, such as color scheme, construction, and type of material to be used. : Confers with and coordinates activities of workers who draw and cut patterns and construct garments to fabricate sample garment. Examines sample garment on and off model and modifies design as necessary to achieve desired effect. May draw pattern for article designed, using measuring and drawing instruments. May cut patterns. May construct sample, using sewing equipment. May arrange for showing of sample garments at sales meetings or fashion shows. May attend fashion and fabric shows to observe new fashions and materials. May be identified according to specific group designed for, such as men, women, or children or areas of specialization, such as sportswear, coats, dresses, suits, lingerie, or swimwear. May design custom garments for clients. May conduct research and design authentic period, country, or social class costumes to be worn by film, television, concert, stage, and other performers. May design, fabricate, repair, and sell leather articles. May design, copy, or modify clothing accessories.

Artist Fashion

Draws or paints men's, women's, and children's apparel and accessory illustrations for newspaper or related advertisements. Positions garment, accessory, or model to accentuate desired sales features. Renders drawing of garment or accessory, complementary articles, and background, using various art media and materials. : May use models, props, and settings to accentuate subject materials. May draw lettering.

Manager Retail Store (Revenue)

Manages daily operations of a retail store engaged in selling specific lines of merchandise, such as groceries, meat, liquor, apparel, jewelry, or furniture; related lines of merchandise, such as radios, televisions, and household appliances; or general lines of merchandise. Formulates pricing policies to ensure profitability of store operations. Coordinates sales promotion activities and prepares or supervises preparation of merchandise displays and advertising copy. Performs and/or supervises employees engaged in taking of and controlling inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily records of transactions. Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties. Typically the next organization level is an Area Manager and supervisors report to this position. NOTE--ERI's findings based on revenue size.: Orders merchandise or prepares requisitions to replenish inventory on hand. Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and record keeping procedures and practices. Typically accountable for controllable expenses, cash management, merchandising, and loss prevention. May hire and train store personnel and maintain employee relations.

Retail Zone Manager

Manages operations of retail stores in assigned district or zone. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring area and store activities, such as sales, expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status of store activities. Typically this job oversees Area Managers; the next level in the organization above this job is a Regional Manager. NOTE--ERI's findings based on sales volume.: Interprets company policy to Area Managers and Store Managers. Analyzes area budgets to identify needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budgets funds. Formulates pricing policies on merchandise according to requirements for profitability of store operations. May recruit, hire, and train Area and Store Managers, evaluate performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. May coordinate sales promotion activities. May answer customers' complaints or inquiries.

Loss Prevention Retail Manager

Manages all aspects of organization's loss prevention activities, such as asset protection, store safety, training, and oversight of security equipment. Implements and coordinates security and theft prevention programs designed to ensure the protection of company assets and increase profitability. : Reviews reported loss events such as shoplifting, robbery or burglary, destruction or sabotage of company property, employee theft or fraud, or any other internal or external event resulting in loss of company assets. Modifies loss prevention plan to protect against repeat occurrences of loss events. Selects and trains loss prevention personnel, with emphasis on professionalism and safety. Coordinates investigations of loss events, and works with local law enforcement and other prosecuting agencies. Maintains records and reports of loss events, and monitors loss prevention department's contribution to total store shortage reduction. Prepares training materials and may provide training during new employee orientation.
