Formulates, recommends, and oversees the operational research program, utilizing engineering and scientific research methods for improvement, cost reduction, and/or optimization of the performance of the organization. Plans, develops, and establishes policies, procedures, and objectives of the organization's research operations functions in accordance with organization's objectives. Ensures research operations department remains current with changing technologies in order to continually perform more sophisticated research.

Research & Development Manager (Non-Technical)

Manages research and development staff and programs with improvement and cost reduction ideas and the introduction of products, processes, and services. Recommends potential of new, or ways to improve existing products, processes, and services. Research is not highly technical in nature and does not require advanced studies in engineering, science, or math. Typically reports to the Research & Development Director and has the Research & Development Supervisor reporting to this position.: Researches products, processes, and/or services of comparable competitors. Reviews and evaluates research results and makes appropriate recommendations to management. Keeps management informed on progress of projects. Develops and monitors project budgets and schedules. Controls research expenditures within approved budget limitations. Reviews and evaluates research results. Prepares reports on progress and recommends the addition, expansion, or discontinuance of projects or programs. May recruit, hire, and train department staff, evaluate staff performance, and develop goals and objectives for staff.

Marketing Research Director

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with gathering, recording, and analyzing data about current and potential customers, competitors, and the market for the purpose of creating a business plan, launching a new product or service, fine tuning existing products or services, and/or expanding into new markets. Plans, develops, and establishes policies and objectives of the organization's market research function. Develops market research programs, including methods of marketing, in accordance with organization's objectives. Typically reports to Marketing and Sales Director, and Marketing Research Manager reports to this position.: Monitors market trends and analyzes, reviews, and formulates findings of market research staff, and works with management and appropriate departments to devise and adapt a sales and marketing plan based on the results of findings and sales forecasts. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of progress reports, records of expenditures, sales records, trend research, and other research findings in order to keep management informed. Devises new marketing research programs to add value and profitability to products and services provided. May negotiate contracts with consulting firms to perform research studies.

Market Research Manager

Manages market research and analysis activities to provide information regarding sales potential and market conditions for an organization's products and services. Implements and manages the organization's market research program, which includes analysis of sales records, trends, and new and existing product and service markets. Interprets and predicts consumer trends through the use of analytic techniques. Projects market potential and estimates market penetration. Schedules and assigns tasks to supervisors or analysts. Typically reports to the Market Research Director and has Market Research Supervisor and/or Analysts reporting to this position.: Monitors research projects and prepares reports for management's use regarding market conditions, market potential, sales forecasts, and information on competitors. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy. Responsible for the motivation and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Operations Research Manager

Manages activities of operations research department of industrial or non-profit firm in accordance with established policies to provide improvement, cost reduction, and/or optimization of performance. Provides guidance and technical assistance in engineering and scientific research methods to staff. First level supervisors and/or Operations Research Analysts typically report to this position.: Monitors research projects through staff's preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences. Reviews and analyzes results of research surveys, studies, or programs, and the compilation and analysis of factors, and submits recommendations to management for approval or action. Clinical Research Manager

Oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of ongoing and new clinical research studies. Assists in all aspects of study design, implementation, and administration. Plans and organizes the daily operations of the Research Department, to include protocol and systems, budgeting, staffing, and grant/contract administration. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer. : Provides day-to-day technical leadership and administrative supervision to clinical and technical staff engaged in research. Ensures regulatory and scientific integrity of projects. Evaluates, monitors, and documents all study parameters. Provides initial contract review utilizing legal review and provides contract management. Forecasts product requirements for clinical trials. Organizes advisory and investigator meetings. Develops, implements, and evaluates specific research and data collection methodologies, protocols, systems, and techniques. Participates in experiment design. Develops quality standards and programs. Oversees budget review process and negotiations. Participates in staff hiring, provides training, allocates and coordinates work assignments, and evaluates performance of staff.

Provides guidance and technical assistance in engineering and scientific research methods to staff. Typically reports to the Operations Research Manager.: Assists in directing research surveys and studies, compilation, and analysis of factors for presentation to management for approval or action. Assists in planning, developing and implementing new approved programs and ideas. Contributes to the preparation of department operating budget and controls research expenditures within approved limitations. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve department goals. Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.

Tax Research Supervisor

Supervises activities of personnel responsible for ensuring that tax reports have been properly prepared and filed. Compiles data based on tax studies and analyses of past and current years to prepare budgets and to justify taxes reported. Correlates appropriations for specific taxes related to divisional programs. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Prepares regular and special budget reports to interpret budget directives and to establish policies for carrying out directives. Submits reports to director of organization with recommendations for budget revisions.

Nuclear Fuels Research Engineer

Studies behavior of various fuels and fuel configurations in differentiated reactor environments to determine the safest and most efficient usage of nuclear fuels, applying theoretical and experiential knowledge of reactor physics and thermal and metallurgical characteristics of nuclear fuels and fuel cell claddings. Requires advanced study in the field of nuclear engineering.: Analyzes available data and consults with other scientists to determine parameters of experimentation and suitability of analytical models. Designs fuels behavior tests and coordinates activities of experimental research team in performance and analysis of test operations. Monitors test reactor indicators of factors such as neutron power level, coolant level, and vital pressure, temperature and humidity readings, and changes, or modifies procedures to meet test goals. Synthesizes analyses of test results and prepares technical reports to disseminate findings and recommendations. Formulates equations that describe phenomena occurring during fissioning of nuclear fuels, and develops analytical models for nuclear fuels research.
