Manages the care of neonatal patients resulting from the childbearing process that requires moderate to complex assessments, interventions, and level of nursing vigilance. Provides tertiary and quaternary care to premature infants and newborns. Works with critically ill neonates with life-threatening medical or surgical conditions, such as respiratory distress, birth depression, congenital anomalies, infection and surgical conditions. Provides direct and indirect patient care in collaboration with Neonatologist. Typically requires licensure as a Registered Nurse with ICU or neonatal experience. Develops plan of care that is individualized for the neonatal patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for the neonatal patient and family. Provides individualized patient/family education customized to the neonatal patient and family. Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention, and progress towards problem resolution. Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to neonatal resuscitation protocols. Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and staff. Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift. Maintains established policies and procedures, safety, and infection control standards.

ICU Nurse

Provides professional nursing care for intensive care unit patients. Prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. Requires RN license.: Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs. Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.

Typically requires a college degree in medical health records and CCS certification by the American Health Information Management Association or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).: Coordinates and reviews the work of designated employees to ensure quality and quantity of work performed through regular audits. Assists with research and development and presentation of continuing education programs on areas of specialization. Abstracts and compiles data from medical records for optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges. Consults with and educates physicians on coding practices and conventions. Maintains reporting documentation for certain procedures in compliance with regulation. Performs medical record audits. Compiles medical care and census data for statistical reports on types of diseases treated, surgery performed, and use of hospital beds, in response to inquiries from law firms, insurance companies, and government agencies. Conducts special studies and research.

Registered Nurse

Provides general nursing care to patients in hospital, nursing home, infirmary, or similar health care facility. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Requires RN license.: Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of patient. May rotate among various clinical services of institution, such as obstetrics, surgery, orthopedics, outpatient and admitting, pediatrics, psychiatry, and tuberculosis. May prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and hand items to Surgeon, Obstetrician, or other medical practitioner. May make beds, bathe, and feed patients. May serve as leader for group of personnel rendering nursing care to number of patients.

Nurse Registered

Psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner

Under indirect supervision of a Psychiatrist, provides for the mental health care needs of patients through advanced assessment, identification of health states including abnormal conditions, diagnosing, treatment and evaluation.: A Psychiatric Advanced Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) who has completed a nurse practitioner educational program and holds national certification as a nurse practitioner from a Board approved certifying body with a specialization in psychiatry. Provides direct clinical services for psychiatric patients according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the supervising physician. Functions independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations. Obtains patient health histories and completes examinations. Orders, performs and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies. Diagnoses and treats acute health problems. Provides health maintenance, screenings and referrals. Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals. Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed. Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient’s family, or staff. Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status. Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Prescribes, manages, and supervises medication treatment for psychiatric conditions. Provides quality assurance review. Maintains established policies and procedures, safety, and infection control standards. This position typically requires a Master’s degree in nursing, licensure as a Registered Nurse, and graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Post Master’s advanced training and certification in psychiatry is also required. May serve in a teaching capacity or may supervise clinical and support staff in patient care activities. May diagnose, manage treatment and monitor acute or chronic conditions.

Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse

Plans and provides acute dialysis patient care, related procedures, and treatments. Initiates, monitors, evaluates, and administers acute dialysis procedures and medications needed for the patient. Communicates and documents the necessary patient care plans.: Performs patient assessments, administers medications, and ensures the implementation of physician orders. Analyzes patient data including status of vascular accesses, lab work, and patient assessments and makes recommendations to the Physician. Develops short- and long-term treatment plans involving assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and education. Communicates with the Physician and other members of the healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and complete age-specific care for the dialysis patient to achieve treatment outcomes in keeping with established patient care standards. Collaborates with a team of Nurses to plan and deliver dialysis treatments to patients and provide patient education.
