Cancer Center Director

Manages funding sources for specific cancer research projects and oversees, plans, and directs the operations of a cancer treatment center. Oversees procedures for submitting proposals to funding agencies. Establishes the mission and goals of the cancer care unit. This is an administrative management position and does not require licensure as a Medical Doctor. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a health care field with seven years of business management experience in a patient care facility.: Trains cancer care unit personnel in proposal submission and grant management skills. Monitors resources to achieve short- and long-term goals of the cancer unit. Plans and directs cancer center treatment operations to ensure facility performance and quality of care. Manages the cancer center staff and implements strategies relative to the improvement of cancer center care. Serves as a liaison between Physicians and affiliated health care management to coordinate effective treatment programs within the cancer center. Oversees hiring, developing, and managing a qualified management staff concerned with providing quality care to cancer patients. Prepares, manages, and monitors the departmental budget. Monitors effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators using turnover rates, absenteeism, budget variance, patient, MD, and staff satisfaction surveys. Develops and implements policies and procedures for the facility. May administer research and teaching programs.

Recreation Center Director

Plans, organizes, and directs comprehensive public and voluntary recreation programs at recreation building, indoor center, playground, playfield, or day camp: studies and analyzes recreational needs and resources. Oversees and assigns duties to staff. Interprets recreation programs and their philosophy to individuals and groups through personal participation and staff assignments. Schedules maintenance and use of facilities. Coordinates recreation program of host agency, such as settlement house, institution for children or aged, hospital, armed services, or penal institution, with related activity programs of other services or allied agencies. Cooperates with recreation and nonrecreation personnel. Works under direction of recreation supervisor.

Information Center Representative

Analyzes and troubleshoots computer support problems and applies understanding of computer software and hardware products and services to resolve problems of users. Receives telephone calls and e-mails from users having problems using computer software and hardware or inquiring how to use specific software, programming languages, electronic mail, or operating systems. Ascertains from computer user the nature of problem, determines whether problem is caused by hardware such as modem, printer, cables, or telephone, formulates diagnosis, and assists users through problem solving steps. Trains users on software and hardware on-site or in classroom, or recommends outside contractors to provide training.

Information Center Specialist

Provides technical assistance, support, and advice to end users for hardware, software, and systems. Investigates and resolves computer software and hardware problems of users. Serves as a contact for users having problems using computer software, hardware, and operating systems. Determines whether problem is caused by hardware, software, or system. Answers questions, applying knowledge of computer software, hardware, systems, and procedures. May work as in-house consultant and research alternate approaches to existing software and hardware when standardized approaches cannot be applied. Typically requires a four-year college degree in field of specialty; however, some organizations may accept equivalent education and experience combined.: Talks with co-workers to research problem and find solution. Asks user with problem to use telephone and participate in diagnostic procedures, using diagnostic software or by listening to and following instructions. Talks to programmers to explain software errors or to recommend changes to programs. Calls software and hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products. Reads trade magazines and attends computer trade shows to obtain current information about computers. May test software and hardware to evaluate ease of use and whether product will aid user in performing work. May write software and hardware evaluation and recommendation for management review. May write or revise user-training manuals and procedures. May develop training materials, such as exercises and visual displays. May train users on software and hardware on-site or in classroom, or recommend outside contractors to provide training. May install microcomputers, software, and peripheral equipment, following procedures and using hand tools. May conduct office automation feasibility studies, including work flow analysis, space design, and cost comparison analysis. May specialize by type of software, computer language, or computer operating system.

Center Machine Operator

Sets up and operates machine that extrudes soft candy, such as fondant, to form centers of specified size and shape for bonbons and chocolates: inserts die plate in machine and tightens thumbscrews to secure plate. Examines and feels candy for specified consistency. Dumps candy into machine hopper. Starts machine that automatically feeds candy through openings in die plate and cuts off and deposits formed pieces on conveyor, or moves control to force candy through openings in die plate and moves wires that cut extruded candy to specified thickness. Weighs formed pieces at random to determine adherence to specifications. Adjusts wire or knife that cuts extruded candy to specified dimensions. When making cream centers to be coated with chocolate, may synchronize speed of center machine with enrobing machine. May be designated by product formed as fondant-puff maker; marshmallow runner.

Call Center Registered Nurse

Provides telephone triage to member of the health plan. Advises and instructs callers on proper health care after assessing the urgency of symptoms or complaints.: Answers telephone inquiries, assesses symptoms and provides assistance to members of the health plan in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols. Provides clinical nursing evaluation and assessment and instructs callers to seek appropriate medical care. Notifies physician on call with pertinent medical information or if consultation is deemed necessary by nurse. Provides nursing referral to appropriate and available resources, including affiliated services, affiliated medical practice or community resource. Enters data into a computerized database and forwards facsimiles to appropriate health providers. Consults and facilitates after hours communication with physicians, nurses, hospital staff and outside agencies. Communicates with pharmacies and providers to refill medications or to clarify prescriptions. Typically requires graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse with two years of hospital or public health nursing experience. May provide health insurance eligibility, pharmacy benefits, provider information, and other information to callers.

Registered Nurse

Provides general nursing care to patients in hospital, nursing home, infirmary, or similar health care facility. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Requires RN license.: Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of patient. May prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and hand items to Surgeon, Obstetrician, or other medical practitioner. May make beds, bathe, and feed patients. May serve as leader for group of personnel rendering nursing care to number of patients.

Acute Dialysis Registered Nurse

Plans and provides acute dialysis patient care, related procedures, and treatments. Initiates, monitors, evaluates, and administers acute dialysis procedures and medications needed for the patient. Communicates and documents the necessary patient care plans.: Performs patient assessments, administers medications, and ensures the implementation of physician orders. Analyzes patient data including status of vascular accesses, lab work, and patient assessments and makes recommendations to the Physician. Develops short- and long-term treatment plans involving assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and education. Communicates with the Physician and other members of the healthcare team to interpret, adjust, and complete age-specific care for the dialysis patient to achieve treatment outcomes in keeping with established patient care standards. Collaborates with a team of Nurses to plan and deliver dialysis treatments to patients and provide patient education.

Telemetry Registered Nurse

Provides nursing care to telemetry patients in assigned care unit or department. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate telemetry patient care.: Demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability and uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor, including establishing priorities. Performs focused interviews to identify specific patient’s needs. Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses. Documents the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions. Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements. Monitors consistency between patient plan of care and actions of medical staff. Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, hospital or medical facility policies, and patient care outcome standard. Provides a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic patient environment. Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education. Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective and/or ineffective nursing interventions. Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment. Performs according to nursing standards, and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.
