Dental Laboratory Manager

Industrial Hygienist

Conducts health program in industrial plant or governmental organization to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards and diseases. Collects samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis. Investigates adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that may affect employee health, comfort, or efficiency. Conducts evaluations of exposure to ionized and nonionized radiation and to noise, and recommends measures to ensure maximum employee protection. Work requires completion of four-year college degree in the field of industrial hygiene.: Collaborates with Industrial Health Engineer and Occupational Physician to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and equipment. Registered Health Information Technician

Reviews the medical record documentation to assure specificity of diagnoses, procedures, and appropriate/optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges and accurately codes and sequences the primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9 and CPT coding conventions. Typically requires a college degree in medical health records and CCS certification by the American Health Information Management Association or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).: Coordinates and reviews the work of designated employees to ensure quality and quantity of work performed through regular audits. Assists with research and development and presentation of continuing education programs on areas of specialization. Abstracts and compiles data from medical records for optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges. Consults with and educates physicians on coding practices and conventions. Maintains reporting documentation for certain procedures in compliance with regulation. Performs medical record audits. Compiles medical care and census data for statistical reports on types of diseases treated, surgery performed, and use of hospital beds, in response to inquiries from law firms, insurance companies, and government agencies. Conducts special studies and research.

Provides general nursing care to patients in hospital, nursing home, infirmary, or similar health care facility. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Requires RN license.: Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of patient. May prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and hand items to Surgeon, Obstetrician, or other medical practitioner. May make beds, bathe, and feed patients. May serve as leader for group of personnel rendering nursing care to number of patients.

Performs a variety of tasks to fabricate and repair dental appliances, according to Dentist's prescription, using hand tools, molding equipment, and bench fabricating machines. Creates orthodontic appliances and splints to help straighten and protect teeth working with materials such as waxes, plastics, precious and non-precious alloys, stainless steel, a variety of porcelains and composites, or polymer glass combinations. Produces dental appliances such as a removable prosthesis, including dentures and Orthodontic appliances, and fixed prostheses, such as bridges, partials, dentures, veneers, and crowns. Manipulates gold and other precious metals, dental porcelain, and acrylics in order to custom manufacture dental appliances and indirect restorations that will exactly fit a patient. : Reads prescription and examines dental models and impressions to determine type of denture to be made or repaired applying knowledge of dental laboratory techniques. Fabricates full or partial dentures, using wax, plastic, and plaster models, articulators, grinders, and polishers. Casts plastic or plaster models of dentures to be repaired. Selects and mounts replacement teeth in model to match color and shape of natural or adjacent teeth, using tooth color scales and tooth illustrations. Molds wax over denture setup to form contours of gums, using knives and spatula. Removes excess plastic and polishes surfaces of cast dentures, using grinding and polishing tools and ultrasonic equipment. Rebuilds denture linings to duplicate original thickness, contour, and color according to specifications. Tests repaired dentures for accuracy of occlusion. Bends and solders gold and platinum wire to construct wire frames for dentures. May prepare dental materials and medications, expose and process dental x-ray films, render emergency dental first aid, and instruct patients in oral hygiene. May perform dental administrative work, maintain treatment records and reports, and assist Dentist or Dental Hygienist with patient.
