Medical Practice Administrator

Directs the overall operation and provides executive leadership in a medical group/physician practice.: Responsible for the overall direction of the medical group to include patient care, physician employment, strategic planning, marketing, and financial performance. Establishes strategic plans and guides implementation. Confers with executive management to plan operational objectives, to develop policies and procedures, to coordinate functions and operations between divisions, departments and satellite locations, and to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives. Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions. Directs and coordinates formulation of financial programs to provide funding for new or continuing operations and guides changes needed to reach financial goals. Represents the organization to major external authorities and constituencies. Plans and develops policies designed to improve the organization's image and relations with patients, providers, employees, and the general public. Selects and evaluates performance of executive staff for compliance with established policies and objectives and contributions in attaining objectives. An advanced degree in a field of health or business is typically required for this position.

Administrator School (Primary/High School)

Directs administration of elementary or secondary school within authority of governing board. Develops or expands programs or services. Administers fiscal operations such as budget planning and accounting. Directs hiring and training of personnel. A master's degree in education plus experience is typically required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job. May be required to have certification from State.: Negotiates for improvement of and additions to school buildings and equipment. Directs and coordinates activities of teaching and administrative staffs and services. Develops policies and procedures for various school activities.

Medical Practice Manager

Oversees the daily operations of the medical practice, including hiring, terminations, training, managing employees, handling the revenue cycle, credentialing, and contract negotiations. Serves as the overall business manager and liaison to the physicians. : Troubleshoots problems and develops recommendations for resolution. Monitors staff performance and facilitates effective teamwork. Manages new and existing managed care contracts. Prepares and analyzes financial and practice activity reports. Assists in marketing and expansion related issues. Performs, supervises, coordinates, and/or monitors the work activity related to patient injuries, self-pay collections, and payment posting. Oversees the annual operating budget and develops business goals. Approves vendor lists and processes procurement items for the physician office. Acts as liaison with landlord and real estate services resolving issues/concerns with property/facility. Submits accurate and timely payroll information. Processes all accounts payable information. Performs administrative duties to ensure the efficiency of the office practice. Identifies, establishes, and evaluates quality assurance and compliance within the office practice, in keeping with the hospital policy and procedures.

Practice Manager

Manages and oversees the clinical, financial, and administrative functions of a medical practice. Manages general administrative and clinical responsibilities of the office and directs work of the clerical and nursing staff, assigning specific tasks and responsibilities as needed. Plans, manages, and evaluates the daily operations and resources of the practice in a manner that is fiscally responsible, in accordance with policies and standards, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.: Anticipates personnel needs, and recruits and effectively employs part-time and contractual personnel as needed. Implements new programs and procedures to improve services, operations, and efficiency and to respond to changes within the institution and the external environment. Oversees the financial and clerical functions of the office in conjunction with hospital and medical policy. Oversees the coordination of clinical and clerical integration in conjunction with the practice providers and mid-level providers. Identifies and assists in efficient resolution of problems. Assumes responsibility for maintaining quality service, financial stability, public relations, and widening the base of the program. Participates in the development and implementation of business information policies and budget management processes.

Social Worker Healthcare

Assists patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose illness or interfere with obtaining maximum benefits from medical care: works in close collaboration with physicians and other health care personnel in patient evaluation and treatment to further their understanding of significant social and emotional factors underlying patient's health problem. Helps patient and family through individual or group conferences to understand, accept, and follow medical recommendations. Provides service planned to restore patient to optimum social and health adjustment within patient's capacity. Utilizes community resources to assist patient to resume life in community or to learn to live within limits of disability. Prepares patient histories, service plans, and reports. Participates in planning for improving health services by interpreting social factors pertinent to development of program. Provides general direction and supervision to workers engaged in clinic home service program activities. Works in general hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, drug and alcohol abuse centers, or related health programs. May be employed as consultant in other agencies. Usually required to have knowledge and skill in casework methods acquired through degree program at school of social work.

Family Practice Physician

Provides comprehensive medical services for members of family, regardless of age or sex, on a continuing basis. Examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment. Elicits and records information about patient's medical history. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient.: Administers or prescribes treatments and medications. Promotes health by advising patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease. Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases. Provides prenatal care to pregnant women, delivers babies, and provides postnatal care to mothers and infants. Performs surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency. Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well-being.

Physician General Practice

Diagnoses and treats variety of diseases and injuries in general practice. Conducts fitness physical examinations. Examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition.: Attends to patients in clinic or hospital, and reexamines disability cases periodically to verify progress. Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs. Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases. Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease. Provides prenatal care to pregnant women, delivers babies, and provides postnatal care to mother and infant. Oversees maintenance of case histories, health examination reports, and other medical records. Formulates and administers health programs. Inspects and makes recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards. Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. Performs minor surgery. May make house and emergency calls to attend to patients unable to visit office or clinic. May conduct physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.

Healthcare Manager

Plans and participates in medical care or research program in hospital, clinic, or other public medical facility: provides medical care for eligible persons, and institutes program of preventive health care in county, city, or other government or civic division. Gives vaccinations, imposes quarantines, and establishes standards for hospitals, restaurants, and other areas of possible danger. May conduct research in particular areas of medicine to aid in cure and control of disease. May be designated medical officer.

Primary School Teacher

Teaches elementary school students academic, social, and motor skills in public or private schools. Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school. Lectures, demonstrates, and uses audiovisual teaching aids to present subject matter to class. A bachelor's degree in education is required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job. Teaches rules of conduct. Maintains order in classroom and on playground. Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise. Discusses pupils' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents. Keeps attendance and grade records as required by school. May coordinate class field trips. May teach combined grade classes. May specialize by subject taught, such as math, science, or social studies.

Physician Practices Executive

Directs and oversees the physician practices operations. Creates and executes strategic plans and provides business development around physician services in particular. Assesses the various physician practices and designs and implements programs to increase revenue and improve and enhance physician services overall. Monitors and manages compliance issues and budget variances. Oversees a large staff, including Medical Secretaries, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, Office Managers, and others.: Completes the annual operating and capital budgets with the Executive Director and the Budget Manager. Formulates long-term strategic plans and business development programs for operational needs. Evaluates practice efficiency, including all personnel (physicians and clinical and administrative support staff), utilizing accepted quality measures, productivity standards, skill mix comparisons, and patient satisfaction survey data. Participates in physician recruitment activities, physician compensation models, and contract negotiations, as needed. Collaborates with Physicians and clinical staff to address and respond to patient care needs and issues. Implements new operational models and structures to reduce costs, improve quality, and enhance service to patients. Participates in committees, as assigned. Provides leadership to the Operations Team.
