Works assignments ranging from one to fifty-two weeks, based on the employer and the assignment needs, moving to different facilities in areas of their choosing after each travel assignment is finished.: Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. Reviews Physician's referral (prescription) and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required. Provides physical therapy services to patients under the appropriate guidelines established by the facility. Conducts patient screening/evaluations to determine need for intervention and treatment planning. Interprets and communicates evaluation findings to patients, family, and other team members. Establishes individual patient schedules in conjunction with other team members. Develops treatment plans by identifying a problem list, including short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals. Implements and conducts treatment as outlined in treatment plan. Monitors patient’s response to intervention and modifies treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with Physician orders. Develops appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance the performance of the patient in his or her own environment. Supervises and directs PTA's in the implementation of the treatment plan, when applicable.

Evaluates effects of treatments at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Administers massage, applying knowledge of massage techniques and body physiology. Administers traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment. Records treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer. Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home. Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices, and recommends modification to Orthotist. Confers with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's health care.
