Outpatient Surgery Center Head

Directs, administers, and coordinates activities and operations of a major comprehensive ambulatory care or outpatient surgery center(s) to provide professional quality of care.: Organizes and develops short- and long-term planning programs to ascertain facility requirements. Administers fiscal operations such as budget planning and establishing rates for services. Establishes and maintains a clean and safe environment within the operating room suite and patient areas. Monitors care of the operating room suite and equipment to ensure that sterile techniques are used, equipment functions properly, and items are properly positioned. Develops operating schedules for the operating room suite and ensures proper levels of staffing of professional personnel during surgical procedures and post-anesthesia recovery. Monitors the preparation of patients for surgery and immediate post-operative care. Assists in establishing policies and procedures related to pre-operative, operative, and post-operative nursing functions. Oversees ordering of drugs, materials, supplies, solutions, and equipment needed for successful functioning. Ensures timeliness of surgical procedures by providing and controlling material, staffing, supplies, and equipment needed for procedures. Organizes and develops short- and long-term planning programs to ascertain requirements. Analyzes, implements programs, and evaluates the financial, operational and delivery aspects of outpatient surgery programs. Ensures compliance with all regulations and license requirements. Plans and manages capital needs for the surgery center. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a field of health and a minimum of five years of related experience. This position is not a Medical Doctor.

Physical Facilities Director

Develops and implements programs to maximize the utilization of facility assets. Develops short- and long-range facility utilization plans for facilities. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a technical area such as architecture, engineering, or related field and five years of related management experience.: Establishes policies, procedures, programs, and budgets to assure effective maintenance of the facility in accordance with regulatory requirements. Serves as a liaison between the end user and the principle processes of operations and maintenance, engineering, energy, and physical safety. Manages and oversees design development for remodeling or build out space with consultants and internal resources. Plans and oversees moves and ensures correct code compliance. Ensures that new or remodeled office spaces are complete with appropriate phone service and furniture and that janitorial services are adequate. Assists with lease acquisition and/or negotiation. Develops and implements policies and building standards for external resources assisting with projects. Maintains space and furniture/equipment inventories. Reviews and recommends space standards. Hires, trains, and motivates a qualified maintenance staff.

Physical Fitness Supervisor

Develops and promotes a wellness recreation program in private health club or gymnasium to improve health and physical fitness of individuals and improve fitness and to reduce the incidents of illness and disease. Typically reports to a manager and coordinates activities of recreation service personnel. To carry out the responsibilities at this level typically requires a degree in physical education.: Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment. Explains and demonstrates principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body, hands, or feet to achieve proficiency in activity. Observes participants during workout to detect and correct mistakes. Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations. Teaches and demonstrates to individuals or groups beginning or advanced calisthenics and reducing or corrective exercises evaluating abilities of individual to determine suitable training program. Adapts recreation programs to meet needs of individual sponsor agency or institution. Introduces new program activities, equipment, and materials to staff. Trains personnel and evaluates performance. Interprets recreation services in meetings and organizational planning. May work in team with administrative or other professional personnel, such as those engaged in medicine, benefits, nursing, psychology, and therapy, to ensure that recreation is well balanced, coordinated, and integrated with special services.

Outpatient Services Director

Directs outpatient clinic activities and coordinates activities of clinic with those of other hospital departments. Oversees operation of clinic and recommends procedures, treatments, or other course of action to assist medical staff. Establishes and administers clinic policies and procedures in cooperation with other hospital officials and administrative personnel. : Interprets and administers personnel policies and provides for training program. Reviews clinic activities and recommends changes in, or better utilization of, facilities, services, and staff. Establishes and maintains work schedules and assignments of resident professional staff members. Authorizes purchase of supplies and equipment. Prepares and submits budget, records, reports, and statistical data to administrator of health care facility. Works with accounts department, exchanging information needed to process records. Meets with personnel of other local institutions and organizations to promote public health and educational services. May supervise emergency room personnel.

Outpatient Department Manager

Manages and coordinates outpatient clinic operations, and coordinates activities of clinic with those of other hospital departments. Provides input in developing, evaluating, and implementing clinic policies, practices, procedures, and attainment of operating goals. Assigns, or delegates responsibility for, specified work or functional activities and disseminates policies and objectives to staff. Establishes and maintains work schedules and assignments of resident professional staff members. : Organizes resources to ensure efficiency of services. Interprets and administers personnel policies and ensures employee compliance to organization's policies and programs. Ensures adequate training of staff. Reviews clinic activities and recommends changes in, or better utilization of, facilities, services, and staff. Assists in preparation of clinic budget. Prepares required records, reports, and statistical data for hospital administrator.

Outpatient Admitting Clerk

Interviews new outpatients at hospital or clinic and records data on medical charts. Obtains specific information from patient and enters information onto prescribed forms. Information may include, but is not limited to, name, address, age, medical history, symptoms, present medications, previous hospitalizations, religion, person to notify in case of emergency, attending physician, insurance coverage, and party responsible for payment.: Places completed records in order and files in patient's file. Schedules appointments for examinations according to nature of illness. Gives general information about outpatient care and answers telephone. May tally number of outpatients entering each day or week. May give first aid.

Outpatient Coordinator

Coordinates and participates in a variety of activities associated with registering patients, maintaining various financial records, assigning payment classifications, making financial arrangements, reviewing accounts, collecting payments, and providing assistance with third-party sponsorship. Typically requires three years of experience in a related patient accounting position.: Reviews charges to ensure that patients are billed according to current rates. Assists in the supervision of the proper coding and distribution of clinic visit documentation. Coordinates the assignment of patients to specific clinic locations and assigns priorities to patients requiring emergency care. Compiles financial reports and statements to reflect total patient revenue, charges and cash flow, charges generated, receipts, and deposits. Maintains interface with departmental personnel to obtain information to verify and support records. Prepares correspondence and answers inquiries regarding account information.

Aide Physical Therapy

Provides routine treatments, such as hydrotherapy, hot and cold packs, and paraffin bath. Transports patients to and from treatment area. Cleans work area and equipment after treatment. May record treatment given and equipment used. May inventory and requisition supplies and equipment. May adjust fit of supportive devices for patients, as instructed. May be assigned to specific type of treatment or patient service.
