Develops a plan of care that is individualized for the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner. Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as established by individualized plan of care for the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient and his/her family. Provides individualized patient/family education customized to the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient and his/her family. Documents patient assessment findings, physical or psychosocial responses to nursing intervention, and progress towards problem resolution. Initiates emergency resuscitative measures according to pediatric resuscitation protocols. Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and determines progress of patient. Organizes and updates the patient medical record. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatments and examinations of patients. Calls pharmacy to authorize prescription refills. This position requires license as a Registered Nurse and previous pediatric medical surgical nursing experience. May prepare rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies, and hand items to physician.

Catheterization Cardiac Technologist

Performs various tests of multiple blood samples obtained through catheterization or other means from specific areas within the patient's heart or lungs. A degree in health sciences is required for this position.: Determines the concentration of gases through catheterization process or other means. Monitors and records blood pressure and electrocardiogram (EKG) data. Studies the effects of cardiovascular drugs and diseases. Prepares required written documentation such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and related reports.

Answers calls for assistance from patients and inquiries concerning patients from medical staff, using intercom and call director. Prepares documentation regarding evaluation results, progress reports, and personalized treatment plans. May perform duties as described under Electrocardiograph Technician.

Special Procedures Technologist Cardiac Catheterization

Operates diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of heart and cardiovascular system (angiocardiograms), during cardiac catheterization, to aid physician in diagnostic evaluation and treatment: positions and immobilizes patient on examining table, using head and shoulder braces and following specified protocols. Enters technical factors determined by protocol such as amount and quality of radiation beam, and specified filming sequence, into computer. Raises and lowers examining table and manipulates and positions x-ray tube in response to instructions from physician. Starts automatic injection of contrast medium into blood vessels of patient. Activates fluoroscope and 35 mm motion picture camera (cinefluorography) to produce images that assist physician in guiding catheter through cardiovascular system of patient. Observes gauges, recorder, and video screens of multichannel data analysis system that indicates blood pressure, cardiac output, and respiration, during imaging of cardiovascular system. Alerts physician to changes in patient responses. May assist physician in interventional procedures, such as instilling enzymes or inserting balloon in blood vessels to remove plaque or other blockage.
