Commanding Officer Radio Division Communications Officer

Directs and coordinates various activities of personnel engaged in installing and maintaining municipal emergency and business radio communications equipment, and in operating police, fire, or other municipal radio transmitters: ensures that government regulations concerning installation and operation of municipal radio stations are complied with. Participates in operation, testing, and development of all types of police, fire, or other municipal communication systems. Submits required reports to designated authorities concerning communications equipment status, such as nature of business transacted over radio station, character of radio repairs made or needed, and general condition of municipal communications system. Confers with municipal authorities for approval of major capital investments needed in establishing and maintaining system. Cooperates with fire, weather station, and civil defense authorities to originate or relay emergency messages. In communities where equipment is used primarily for police broadcasts, may be a police officer and be designated according to rank as radio-division captain; radio-division lieutenant.

Security Systems Consultant

Plans, directs, and oversees implementation of comprehensive security systems for protection of individuals, homes, and business, commercial, and industrial organizations, and investigates various crimes against client. Inspects premises to determine security needs. Depending on client, may have subordinate personnel reporting to this position.: Studies physical conditions, observes activities, and confers with client's staff to obtain data regarding internal operations. Analyzes compiled data and plans and directs installation of electronic security systems, such as closed circuit surveillance, entry controls, burglar alarms, ultrasonic motion detectors, electric eyes, and outdoor perimeter and microwave alarms. Directs installation and checks operation of electronic security equipment. Plans and directs personal security and safety of individual, family, or group for contracted period. Provides bulletproof limousine and bodyguards to ensure client protection during trips and outings. Suggests wearing bulletproof vest when appropriate. Plans and reviews client travel itinerary, mode of transportation, and accommodations. Travels with client and directs security operations. Investigates crimes committed against client, such as fraud, robbery, arson, and patent infringement. Reviews personnel records of client staff and conducts background investigation of selected members to obtain personal histories, character references, and financial status. Conducts or directs surveillance of suspects and premises to apprehend culprits. Notifies client of security weaknesses and implements procedures for handling, storing, safekeeping, and destroying classified materials. Reports criminal information to authorities and testifies in court.

Security Guard Security Service

Observes and reports activities at client's site assigned by security contract service. Provides security and safety for client's property and personnel. Controls access to site by ensuring proper identification of employees or visitors and prepares security logs. Assists visitors with legitimate need to gain entry to facility. Monitors entrances and exits to facility, either at guard station, or by closed-circuit television, and acts to prevent unapproved or unlawful entry. Makes periodic walking tours of buildings and grounds to check doors, windows, and other entries to ensure they are properly secured. Reports any observed irregularities, such as presence of unauthorized people, fire hazards, leaking pipes, unsecured entries, and faulty equipment.: Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors and premises. Investigates disturbances, and in the event of emergency, maintains order and safety of personnel; serves as liaison with emergency response units. Sounds alarm and/or calls police, fire, or emergency personnel by telephone in case of fire, difficulty with unauthorized people, or medical emergencies.

Airline Security Representative

Screens passengers for weapons, explosives, or other forbidden articles to prevent articles from being carried into restricted area of air terminal. Greets passengers desiring to enter restricted area and informs them that they must be screened prior to entry. Asks individuals to empty contents of pockets into tray. Examines contents of tray for forbidden articles and directs individuals to pass through metal-detecting device. Asks individuals to remove metal articles from person if metal detector signals presence of metal, or uses hand held metal detector to locate metal item on person. Places carry-on baggage or other containers onto x-ray device, actuates device controls, and monitors screen to detect forbidden articles. Requests owner to open baggage or containers when x-ray shows questionable contents. Returns baggage and tray contents to individuals if no forbidden articles are detected. Notifies Security Guard if forbidden articles are discovered or detector equipment indicates further search is needed.: May turn on power and make adjustments to equipment. May perform duties of Security Guard. May screen boarding passengers against Federal Aviation Administration approved profile of aircraft hijackers. May make reports.

Chief Security Officer

Directs the planning and implementation of IT systems, business operation, and facility defenses against breech and vulnerability issues. Audits existing systems and directs the administration of security policies, activities, and standards. Leads and oversees all ongoing activities that serve to provide appropriate access to and protect the confidentiality and integrity of information in compliance with organization policies and standards. Plans, directs, trains, and manages the staff and operations of the Security Services Department.: Creates, documents, and implements security policies and procedures. Initiates activities to create information security awareness within the organization. Performs information security risk assessments and internal audits. Controls building access and oversees patrol and control room activities and monitoring of all security systems including alarm and CCTV operations. Coordinates disaster planning and response. Develops and administers departmental budget and establishes appropriate staffing levels. Provides direct training and oversight to all employees, contractors, or other third parties with information security clearance on the information security policies and procedures. Ensures that all security personnel are regularly evaluated. Serves as an internal Information Security Consultant to the organization.

Security Officer

Plans and establishes adequate security procedures for company. Studies security regulations and restrictions relative to company operations. Directs activities of personnel in developing company security measures that comply with regulations. Consults with local, district, or other Federal representatives for interpretation or application of particular regulations applying to company operations. Consults internally with company personnel and departments to assure adequate security. May have supervisory level positions reporting to this job.: Prepares security manual outlining and establishing measures and procedures for handling, storing, safekeeping, and destroying classified records and documents, and for granting company personnel or visitors access to classified material or entry into restricted areas.
