Demonstrates control and management of supplies and capital assets. Approves timekeeping, supply orders, and departmental strategic planning. Directs, supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff.

Radiology Administrator

Plans, directs, and coordinates administrative activities of radiology department of hospital medical center: conducts studies and implements changes to improve internal operations of department. Advises staff and supervisors on administrative changes. Assists hospital officials in preparation of department budget. Conducts specified classes and provides training material to assist in student training program. Directs and coordinates personnel activities of department. Recommends cost saving methods and hospital supply changes to effect economy of department operations. Interprets, prepares, and distributes statistical data regarding department operations.

Diagnostic Imaging Administrative Director

Provides leadership in administration, technical direction, and long range planning for the Diagnostic Imaging Department and other imaging services. This is the top non-physician administrative position within diagnostic imaging.: Coordinates and directs the operational, financial and staffing activities of a group of imaging departments and services such as Radiology, Special Procedures, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Angiography and routine diagnostics. Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates outcomes of the department’s strategic plans. Develops strategic initiatives and transforms initiatives into action plans. Performs regular data analysis of internal medical cost reports to identify variances so that areas of focus may be identified and resources may be appropriately deployed. Works closely with the Radiologist (M.D.) to ensure that diagnostic imaging services are provided in an efficient and effective manner. Prepares and manages the departmental budget. Hires, develops and motivates a qualified diagnostic imaging department staff. Develops policies and procedures, directs technicians and non-technical staff, and ensures adequate staffing for the department. This position requires certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with a minimum of five years of management experience in diagnostic imaging.

Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor

Supervises all functions of the Radiology Department and maintains high standards of technical competence in all of general radiology. Maintains efficient work flow and adaptability in accommodating emergency and add-on exams. : Assumes responsibility for all phases of imaging diagnostic procedural support, accreditation, and contract compliance under supervision of CMO and Hospital Administrator. Monitors quality of the Imaging Technologist work, interacts with physicians and consultant radiologists, and serves as a technical resource on diversity of imaging procedures. Assists in performing radiographic and ultrasound procedures. Collaborates with Physicians and Hospital Administrator to negotiate and coordinate imaging services, analyzing work requirements and plans both for short and long-range methods.

Radiology Head

Assists Radiologist (M.D.) in planning, directing, and coordinating administrative activities of radiology department of hospital medical center. Manages and coordinates activities of technicians and lower level employees. Conducts studies and implements changes to improve internal operations of department. : Advises staff and supervisors on administrative changes. Assists hospital officials in preparation of department budget. Conducts specified classes and provides training material to assist in student training program. Directs and coordinates personnel activities of department. Recommends cost saving methods and hospital supply changes to effect economy of department operations. Interprets, prepares, and distributes statistical data regarding department operations. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Radiology Technologist

Operates radiologic equipment to produce radiographs (x-rays) of body for diagnostic purposes, as directed by Radiologist. Typically requires specialized certification.: Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols. Practices radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors, to minimize radiation to patient and staff. May operate mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside. May specialize in production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors.

Radiology Assistant

Performs patient assessments, patient management, and select exam procedures in an out-patient diagnostic imaging environment under direct guidance and supervision of a Radiologist. Generates preliminary image report evaluations, interventional studies, and bone density exams for the supervising Radiologist.: Obtains and reviews accuracy of patient's prescriptions prior to performing exams. Provides courteous and professional fluoroscopy procedures/exams to all incoming patients. Responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes while maintaining appropriate confidentiality about diagnosis. Completes all paperwork associated with technical procedures. Responds to Physician's questions and needs regarding patient procedures. Provides film library and clerical support for the department. Transports patients safely from one area of the hospital to another for diagnostic testing, room transfers, or other needs.

Oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, fluoroscope, ct (computerized tomography) scanner, or mri (magnetic resonance imaging) equipment, evaluates accuracy and quality of images, and provides technical assistance. Demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements. Recommends personnel actions, such as performance evaluations, promotions, and disciplinary measures. Coordinates purchase of supplies and equipment and makes recommendations concerning department operating budget.
