Analyst Operations Research

Conducts analyses of management and operational problems using engineering and scientific methods like mathematical modeling, statistics, and algorithms to help with decision-making in complex problems which are concerned with coordination and execution of the operations within an organization, in order to improve or optimize the performance of the organization. Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in field of specialty. Positions covered by this definition are characterized by the inclusion of work that requires an understanding of both theories and principles. Excludes paraprofessional positions.: Provides research support for specific projects and programs. Projects may involve collecting and analyzing data to formulate recommendations, policies, or solutions. Projects may involve mathematical or simulation models of problem for solution by computers or other methods. Analyzes problem in terms of information and conceptualizes and defines problem. Studies information and selects plan from competitive proposals that afford maximum probability of profit or effectiveness in relation to cost or risk. Prepares model of problem in form of one or several equations that relates constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters. Defines data requirements and gathers and validates information applying judgment and statistical tests. Specifies manipulative or computational methods to be applied to model. Performs validation and testing of model to ensure adequacy, or determines need for reformulation. Prepares reports to management defining problem, evaluation, and possible solution. Evaluates implementation and effectiveness of research. Projects may involve collecting and analyzing data to formulate recommendations, policies, or solutions. May involve mathematical or simulation models of problem for solution by computers or other methods. May design, conduct, and evaluate experimental operational models where insufficient data exists to formulate model. May specialize in research and preparation of contract proposals specifying competence of organization to perform research, development, or production work. May develop and apply time and cost networks, such as Program Evaluation and Review Techniques (PERT), to plan and control large projects. May work in association with engineers, scientists, and management personnel in business, government, health, transportation, energy, manufacturing, environmental sciences, or other technologies.

Operations Associate

Ensures the effective functioning of administrative and financial operations and systems in support of office management. Assists with the reporting and management of the organization's daily accounting activities.: Supports accounts payable management including data entry of invoices, check disbursements, monthly reporting, and vendor file maintenance. Assists with accounts payable archiving and reconciliation of bank statements and merchant credit accounts. Prepares cash receipts and deposits, batches, and data base reports. Supports accounts receivable reconciliation, monthly reporting, and monitoring overdue accounts. Coordinates the reporting and data entry of advertising sales revenue. Assists with annual IRS filing and maintains tax documentation. Assists with the preparation of annual audit schedules. Provides administrative and accounting support for annual conference. Interacts with the organization's membership community, if applicable, and supports members dues payments, preparing bank deposits and handling wire transfers. Assists in the development and preparation of the annual budgets. Prepares presentations, membership materials, financial reports, and other necessary documents. Assists in the recruitment and hiring of new personnel, including preparation of position descriptions, position description advertisement, collection of respondent resumes, and coordination of interviews, document and record interview results, and personnel actions. Assists in the orientation of new personnel to corporate policies, procedures, and benefits. Supports front desk operations.

Processing Equipment Operations Supervisor

Oversees operation of complex processing environment. Supervises employees who operate assigned stations along a processing line. Monitors processes and identifies and corrects any error as it occurs throughout the processing procedure. Ensures compliance with all specified procedures and regulations.: Conducts physical inspection of equipment and processing system components. Troubleshoots operational and maintenance problems and directs the correction and repair of operational and/or equipment problems. Reads and interprets plans, specifications, blueprints, and schematics. Implements new technology when appropriate. Coordinates processing activities with other departments. Monitors operation for effective processing to maximize profitability without compromising quality. Schedules and utilizes labor effectively to assure adequate personnel are available and overtime is minimized. Develops productivity improvement and cost reduction strategies. Prepares and submits operational data and reports as required and requested, including providing necessary monitoring information to appropriate State and Federal agencies for compliance with environmental laws and regulations. Implements policies, procedures, technical manual guidelines, and other instructions pertaining to processing. Conducts employee meetings. Ensures accuracy of all employee documentation, such as timecards, attendance counseling, etc. Provides employee training on safety and equipment operation.

Electric & Gas Operations Supervisor

Supervises employees and contractors engaged in the operation and maintenance of electric or gas facilities and related equipment. Monitors and inspects job sites and databases to ensure compliance with company procedures and all applicable local, State, and Federal regulatory requirements.: Plans and schedules activities of personnel to effectively utilize manpower and complete tasks within the time schedules established. Develops, implements, and monitors budgets for Organization and Methods (O&M) and Capital Projects. Communicates across varied disciplines to complete tasks and resolve issues with landowners, regulatory personnel, partnership companies, contractors, and company employees. Administers and adheres to company policies and any union contracts. Trains employees on operational methods and practices. Ensures that all employees satisfy and meet all job responsibilities and obligations, including operator qualification compliance. Trains and coaches direct reports to enhance performance and perform all required tasks following safe work procedures.

Operations Supervisor

Supervises the operating activities of an organization, branch, plant, or department. Provides input on the development and implementation of organization's policies, practices, procedures, and attainment of operating goals. Supervises and coordinates activities of subordinate operations staff. Typically reports to Operations Manager.: Interprets company policies to workers and enforces company policy and practices. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules. Computer Programmer Operations Supervisor

Supervises activities of operating systems computer programmers and related staff engaged in the development, installation, maintenance, modification, testing, and control of computer operating system software. Supervises and coordinates activities of operating systems computer programmers and related staff. Supervises activities involving analyzing performance indicators, such as system's response time, number of transactions per second, and number of programs being processed at once, to ensure that system is operating efficiently. Typically reports to manager level in the organization and is a first line supervisor.: Changes system software so that system performance will meet objectives. Reviews computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested changes to operating system are possible. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring work activities, such as preparation of records of expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status or work activities. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Operations Supervisor Nuclear Power Plant

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operation and control of thermonuclear reactor, turbine generator, and auxiliary equipment at electric generating station: devises and writes operating procedures for reactor, turbine generator, and auxiliary equipment, based on review and interpretation of government regulations, technical manuals, and conferences with manufacturer's representatives. Oversees activities of workers, reviews status reports of station operations, and monitors and analyzes readings of instrumentation systems to ensure that reactor and auxiliary equipment are operated safely and in accordance with nuclear regulatory commission regulations. Confers with supervisory personnel to coordinate activities of operations and maintenance workers engaged in performance of routine and emergency shutdowns and maintenance of equipment and machinery. Prepares training outlines and instructs workers in such subjects as mathematics, reactor physics, and electrical theory, according to federal regulatory requirements. Performs other duties as described under supervisor.

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in strip or pit mining or in quarrying: studies contour maps and aerial photographs to determine locations for roads and cuts. Supervises road construction crew and lays out blast pattern. Supervises drilling and shooting crews in drilling blast holes and detonation of charges. Plans location of spoil pile (dump area) to allow maximum room for stripping. Coordinates stripping, drilling, blasting, quarrying, and loading activities, and assists workers with faulty equipment. Determines property lines and legal limits of operations in order to comply with rights of adjoining property owners and mining laws. Schedules running and major repair work on drilling machine and stripping and loading shovels. Requisitions supplies, such as explosives, lubricants, bits, and machine parts. Observes mining operation to detect violation of safety regulations and compiles safety and production records. May supervise crushing operations. May train new workers. May be designated according to specific work performed as supervisor, drilling and shooting; supervisor, blasting. Performs other duties as described under supervisor.
