Occupational Health-Workers Comp Director

Plans, directs, implements, and administers ongoing improvement of occupational health and worker's compensation services in a health plan. Manages the Occupational Health-Worker's Compensation staff and implements strategies relative to the development and management of related services. Designs and implements programs to maintain positive relationships between the health plan, physicians, providers, and practice managers. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in occupational health with seven years of related health plan experience.: Participates in weekly patient case conferences with Medical Director, Occupational Health, and Worker's Compensation providers. Manages and coordinates placement and periodic health reviews, return to work assessments, fitness for duty assessments, and confidential medical record maintenance. Monitors the management of on the job injuries or illnesses and health consultations including assessment, treatment and referral to appropriate resources as required. Responsible for hiring, developing and managing a qualified management staff concerned with the maintenance and expansion of assigned services within the health plan. Prepares, manages, and monitors the departmental budget. Ensures that the plan has an adequate number of participating providers in the network to meet business objectives.

Occupational Health-Workers Comp Manager

Oversees and manages the delivery of patient care for Occupational Health Services/Employee Health, ensuring that patient care is provided according to established standards of care and practice. Consults with physicians regarding patient assessments, care provided, new services, and other relevant information.: Leads and manages the Occupational Health team including providing direction and guidance to the Medical Director. Develops and coordinates regional internal and external occupational health resources. Collaborates with others to anticipate and control occupational health risks and meet OSHA regulatory and governance requirements. Serves as technical expert and supports the Disability Management, Workers' Compensation, and Human Resources efforts in ADA, FMLA, return-to-work, and other medical issues. Evaluates management systems in occupational and non-occupational areas, such as return-to-work, pre- and post-offer screening, work hardening, and health risk management. Partners with the wellness, health benefits, local medical provider networks, and the contract medical director in defining risk-based processes for health management. Facilitates strategic vendor partnerships for organization's Occupational Health management systems. Develops and reports quality assurance, quality control, and performance metrics to demonstrate positive outcomes for both corporate and regional occupational health programs.

Therapy Assistant Occupational

Assists Occupational Therapist in administering occupational therapy program in hospital, related facility, or community setting for physically, developmentally, mentally disabled, or emotionally disabled clients. Assists in evaluation of clients' daily living skills and capacities to determine extent of abilities and limitations. Assists in planning and implementing educational, vocational, and recreational programs and activities established by registered Occupational Therapist, designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance task performances, diminish or correct pathology, and to promote and maintain health and self-sufficiency. May require certification.: Designs and adapts equipment and working-living environment. Fabricates splints and other assistant devices. Reports information and observations to supervisor. May teach basic living skills to institutionalized, developmentally disabled adults. May assist social worker or psychologist in administering situational or diagnostic tests to measure client's abilities or progress.

Recreational Therapist

Plans, organizes, and directs medically approved recreation program for patients in hospitals and other institutions. Directs and organizes such activities as sports, dramatics, games, and arts and crafts to assist patients to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to develop confidence needed to participate in group activities. Regulates content of program in accordance with patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Instructs patients in relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, concentration, and other activities, to reduce stress and tension. Instructs patients in calisthenics, stretching and limbering exercises. : Counsels and encourages patients to develop leisure activities. Organizes and coordinates special outings and accompanies patients on outings, such as ball games, sightseeing, or picnics to make patients aware of available recreational resources. Prepares progress charts and periodic reports for medical staff and other members of treatment team, reflecting patients' reactions and evidence of progress or regression. May supervise and conduct in-service training of other staff members, review their assessments and program goals, and consult with them on selected cases. May train groups of volunteers and students in techniques of recreation therapy. May serve as consultant to employers, educational institutions, and community health programs. May prepare and submit requisition for needed supplies.

Teaches individual skills and techniques required for participation in activities, and evaluates individual's progress. Designs and constructs special equipment for individual, and suggests adaptation of individual's work-living environment. Requisitions supplies and equipment. Lays out materials for individual's use, and cleans and repairs tools at end of sessions.

Nurse Supervisor of Occupational Health

Directs employee health services of industrial organization. Interprets plant and departmental health policies and regulations to nursing staff and employees. Coordinates activities of personnel rendering assistance to physician and nursing care to employees. Trains nursing staff in techniques of industrial nursing. Requires RN license.: Participates in planning and executing health information programs designed to improve efficiency and reduce absentee and accident rates. Assists in the planning, direction, implementation and evaluation of the health program for employees. Provides testing, evaluation and referral to employees with medical conditions within the hospital, organization, medical facility or clinical office. Gives allergy injections and sponsored immunizations to employees. Evaluates employees with medical conditions and provides appropriate referral for medical services. Actively initiates and coordinates programs and provides corrective measure to promote wellness and protect the health of employees. Administers tuberculosis testing. Ensures compliance with various agency requirements pertaining to occupational health and safety. May conduct pre-employment and scheduled drug screening. Typically requires licensure as a Registered Nurse with two years of clinical experience.

Clinical Therapist

Counsels individuals or groups regarding psychological or emotional problems, such as stress, substance abuse, or family situations, using evaluative techniques, and develops and implements therapeutic treatment plans in medical setting. Consults with medical doctor or other specialists concerning treatment plans and amends plans as directed. Typically requires advanced study in field of specialty.: Discusses progress toward goals with client, such as controlling weight, stress, or substance abuse. Conducts relaxation exercises, peer counseling groups, and family counseling during clinical therapy sessions. Interviews patient to obtain information concerning medical history or other pertinent information. Observes client to detect indications of abnormal physical or mental behavior. Selects and administers various tests, such as psychological tests, personality inventories, and intelligence quotient tests, to identify behavioral or personality traits and intelligence levels, and records results. Reviews results of tests to evaluate client needs. Plans and administers therapeutic treatment, such as behavior modification and stress management therapy, using biofeedback equipment, to assist patient in controlling disorders and other problems. Changes method and degree of therapy when indicated by client reactions. Refers client to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling. May conduct research in treatment and test validation. May develop evaluative studies of therapy and therapy outcome.

Physical Therapist

Plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability. Reviews physician's referral (prescription) and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required. Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records findings to develop or revise treatment programs. Plans and prepares written treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data. Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain function. Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities, such as nonmanual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistant and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses. Must comply with State requirement for license.: Administers treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment such as hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines. Evaluates effects of treatments at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Administers massage, applying knowledge of massage techniques and body physiology. Administers traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment. Records treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer. Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home. Evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices, and recommends modification to Orthotist. Confers with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's health care. Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of assistants, aides, and students. May plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students, and community groups. May plan and develop physical therapy research programs and participate in conducting research. May write technical articles and reports for publications. May teach physical therapy techniques and procedures in educational institutions. May limit treatment to specific patient group or disability or specialize in conducting physical therapy research. In facilities where assistants are also employed, may primarily administer complex treatment, such as certain types of manual exercises and functional training, and monitor administration of other treatments. May plan, direct, and coordinate physical therapy program.
