Operations Manager

Manages and coordinates organization, branch, plant, or department operation strategies and activities. Ensures adequate training of staff and employee compliance to organization's policies and practices. Coordinates activities of department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy. Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares department budget. Prepares reports and records on department activities for management. Managers are designated according to functions, activities, or type of department managed. May initiate or authorize employee hire, promotion, discharge, or transfer.

Operations Manager Banking

Manages and coordinates activities of personnel involved in performing internal operations in departments or branch offices of financial institution. Assigns duties to operations personnel to ensure efficient operation of department or branch. Operations typically include but are not limited to security, check processing, bookkeeping, funds transfers, tellers, etc. NOTE--ERI's findings based on asset size.: Conducts staff meetings of operations personnel, or confers with subordinate supervisors and/or personnel to discuss operational problems or explain procedural changes or practices. Compiles required and special reports on operating functions of department or branch. Interviews, selects, and hires new employees. Operations Research Director

Directs and coordinates activities of operations research department, using engineering and scientific research methods to assist engineering, operations, sales, or a major division of an organization in identifying means for attaining improvement, cost reduction, and/or optimization of performance. Reviews analyses of activities, costs, and operations to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives. Assists Top Research Officer in planning, developing, and administering policies, procedures, and objectives of the operations research functions in accordance with organization's objectives. Typically reports Top Research Officer and directly oversees Operation Research Manager.: Confers with Top Research Officer and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions. Directs research surveys and studies and reviews compilation and analysis proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures. Submits proposals considered feasible to management for further consideration and recommends allocation of funds to support them. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project. Prepares reports on progress and recommends the addition, expansion, or discontinuance of projects. Prepares and administers operations research budget. May recruit, hire, and train department staff, evaluate staff performance, and develop goals and objectives for staff. May negotiate contracts with consulting firms to perform research studies.

Operations Research Manager

Manages activities of operations research department of industrial or non-profit firm in accordance with established policies to provide improvement, cost reduction, and/or optimization of performance. Provides guidance and technical assistance in engineering and scientific research methods to staff. First level supervisors and/or Operations Research Analysts typically report to this position.: Monitors research projects through staff's preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences. Reviews and analyzes results of research surveys, studies, or programs, and the compilation and analysis of factors, and submits recommendations to management for approval or action. Plans, develops, and implements new approved programs and ideas and recommends the expansion or discontinuance of current projects or programs. Contributes to the preparation of department budget and schedules, and controls research expenditures within approved limitations. May recruit, hire, and train department staff, evaluate staff performance, and develop goals and objectives for staff.

Operations Research Supervisor

Supervises activities of operations research department of industrial or non-profit firm in accordance with established policies to further achievement of goals, objectives, standards, and profit goals. Provides guidance and technical assistance in engineering and scientific research methods to staff. Typically reports to the Operations Research Manager.: Assists in directing research surveys and studies, compilation, and analysis of factors for presentation to management for approval or action. Assists in planning, developing and implementing new approved programs and ideas. Contributes to the preparation of department operating budget and controls research expenditures within approved limitations. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve department goals. Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.

IT Operations Supervisor

Supervises the activities of an organization's computer operations function. Ensures rapid, accurate, and efficient processing of corporation's computer-based workload. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers operating computers and peripheral equipment. Assigns staff and schedules work to facilitate production. Typically reports to manager level in organization and has shift supervisors or lead computer operators reporting to position.: Trains workers to operate computer and peripheral equipment. Confers with programmers and operates computer to test new and modified programs. Directs operation of computer to execute program, and observes operation to detect error or failure in progress of program. Reads monitor and enters commands to help computer operators identify and correct errors. Revises input data and program to continue operation of program. Notifies programming and maintenance personnel if unable to locate and correct cause of processing error or failure. Revises operation schedule to adjust for delays, or notifies scheduling workers of need to adjust schedule. Prepares or reviews production, operating, and down time records and reports. Recommends changes in programs, routines, and quality control standards to improve computer operating efficiency. Consults with manager about problems, such as equipment performance, output quality, and maintenance schedule. Coordinates flow of work between shifts to ensure continuity.

Information Systems Operations Manager

Manages and coordinates computer operations activity to ensure rapid, accurate, and efficient data processing of organization's workload. Plans and develops policies and procedures for carrying out computer operations. Builds systems capability that reflects the highest state of technical sophistication consistent with the corporation's needs and budget. Ensures security of company's database. Typically reports to a director and may have supervisors reporting to this position.: Meets with subordinates to discuss progress of work, resolve problems, and ensure that standards for quality and quantity of work are met. Creates staff capable of meeting current and future needs, and adjusts hours of work, priorities, and staff assignments to ensure efficient operation, based on workload. Reviews daily logs and reports to detect recurring slowdowns or errors. Consults with software and hardware vendors to solve computer processing problems. Meets with users to determine quality of service and identify needs. Ensures organization makes maximum use of the general system by providing for the education and training of the principal users. Meets with data processing managers to determine impact of proposed changes in hardware or software on computer operations and service to users. Evaluates new software and hardware to determine usefulness and compatibility with existing software and hardware. Evaluates proposed data processing projects to assess adequacy of existing hardware, and recommends purchase of equipment. Develops budget and monitors expenditures. May direct and coordinate activities of tape library.

Electric & Gas Operations Manager

Manages employees and contractors engaged in the operation and maintenance of electric or gas facilities and related equipment. Oversees the safe, reliable, and diligent operation and maintenance of assigned facilities. Manages the human, physical, and monetary resources required to meet customer needs and maximize business, including receiving, processing, transporting, and delivering the required daily volumes of electricity or gas consistent with system demands and customer allocation rates using planned resources.: Oversees assigned employee's cost expenditures to meet capital and operations and maintenance budget requirements and ensures compliance with spending policies. Establishes required training and staffing changes to meet changing safety, environmental, and government regulations, technology, and operations requirements. Reviews and measures employee skills and activities to ensure organized and effective operation and maintenance of assigned facilities.

Slot Operations Manager

Manages and directs the daily operations of the Slot Department. Supervises all slot operations staff and ensures regulatory compliance. Directs and oversees slot machine operations, repair, and maintenance.: Ensures staff is knowledgeable about service expectations, features, attractions, promotions, and special events to better service customers. Collaborates with the Human Resources Manager to ensure adequate staffing for all areas of responsibility. Plans layout of gaming machines and continually reviews placement and profitability of machines. Reviews electronic gaming device reports and adheres to Federal cash reporting requirements. Floor Operations Manager

Directs floor operations of brokerage firm engaged in buying and selling securities at exchange: monitors order flow and transactions that brokerage firm executes on floor of exchange. Reviews reports of securities transactions and price lists, using computer, to analyze market conditions. Informs staff of changes affecting firm or exchange. Calculates profit made by firm and estimates business volume lost to competition. Develops plan to increase firm's market share of business. Negotiates business contracts with exchange officials, and represents firm by membership in various exchange committees. Interviews, selects, and hires employees, such as floor broker and clerical workers. Develops and implements plans to ensure compliance of workers with established programs and procedures. Conducts staff meetings to discuss changes in policy or to propose methods and procedures which could increase profit and trade volume. Monitors employee attendance and takes disciplinary action when regulations are violated. Evaluates employee job performance and promotes or terminates personnel. May place orders with independent trader when additional help is needed to fill orders for brokerage firm. May buy and sell securities on floor of exchange floor broker. May specialize according to type of securities traded at exchange and be designated manager, commodity exchange floor; manager, options exchange floor; manager, stock exchange floor.
