Wage & Salary Manager

Manages compensation program, which may include incentive and executive compensation. Directs development and application of techniques of job analysis, job descriptions, evaluations, grading, and pricing in order to determine and convert relative job worth into monetary values to be administered according to pay-scale guidelines and policy. May report to Director of Compensation and Compensation Supervisor may report to this position.: Prepares and approves incentives and incentive plan formats. Works with management to achieve corporate goals. Analyzes company compensation policies, government regulations concerning payment of minimum wages and overtime pay, prevailing rates in similar organizations and industries, and agreements with labor unions, in order to comply with legal requirements and to establish competitive rates designed to attract, retain, and motivate employees. Recommends compensation adjustments according to findings, utilizing knowledge of prevailing rates of straight-time pay, types of wage incentive systems, and special compensation programs for professional, technical, sales, supervisory, managerial, and executive personnel. Approves merit increases permitted within budgetary limits and according to pay policies.

Wage & Salary Analyst

Collects, analyzes, and prepares wage and salary data to facilitate compensation and management functions of organization. Consults with management to determine type, scope, and purpose of analyses. Evaluates executive and non-executive positions. Responsibilities are of a professional level, typically requiring a four-year degree and an understanding of both compensation theory and practice. Excludes paraprofessional positions.: Works with computer or other analytic tools. Prepares reports and analyses. Works with other analysts and supervisors to complete assigned project work. Studies current organizational wage and salary data, and compiles reports, organization and flowcharts, and other information. Collects and analyzes occupational data, such as physical, mental, and training requirements of jobs and workers and develops written summaries, such as job descriptions, job specifications, and lines of career movement. Audits and recommends changes to salary structures and position classifications. Utilizes developed occupational data to evaluate or improve methods and techniques for recruiting, selecting, promoting, evaluating, and training workers, and administration of related personnel programs. Reviews wage and salary adjustments for conformance to policy. May observe jobs and interview workers and supervisory personnel to determine job and worker requirements.

Files correspondence, claims, and other records associated with employee group insurance and benefits. Reads incoming material and sorts according to file system. Uses computer to track movement of records.: Places material in file cabinet, drawers, boxes, in special filing cases, or electronic files. Locates and removes material from files when requested. Keeps records of material removed, stamps material received, traces missing file, and maintains indexing information. Answers questions about records and files. Maintains database by editing information, adding new material, creating new files, and putting new filing systems into place when necessary. May utilize microfilm storage and retrieval system.

Supervises and coordinates activities of sales training for an organization. Develops training materials. Conducts training sessions to present and discuss sales techniques, ethics, and methods of maintaining sales quotas. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Accompanies sales agents and clients to observe sales methods utilized, and counsels regarding matters, such as professionalism, financing, and sales closings.

Office Furniture Sales Representative

Sells all types of office furniture in a store or to prospective clients and businesses in an assigned area or territory. Communicates directly with new and existing customers or clients to explain features and merits of office furniture. Contacts prospects and demonstrates and explains features and merits of products offered, utilizing persuasive sales techniques. Answers all questions concerning office furniture, with appropriate referrals where required. Closes transactions and takes orders. Estimates date of delivery to customers, based on knowledge of own firm's installation and delivery schedules.: Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet websites, and other sources. Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders. Developing relationships with space planners, designers, and office management teams. Calculates and quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained. Coordinates customer training if required. Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts. Investigates and resolves customer problems with warranties or other issues to ensure resolution within organization policies. Analyzes and interprets records of present and past sales, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenue, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred for management. Prepares reports of business transactions and submits time and expense reports to management. Attends trade shows as requested.

Sales Training Representative

Develops, implements, and administers sales training programs to help ensure the effectiveness of sales trainees and sales personnel. : Teaches sales trainees how to develop prospective client lists. Schedules and introduces presentations by internal or outside lecturers, motivational speakers, and sales or product specialists. Reports on individual progress of sales trainees and personnel under guidance during training period. Studies and develops skill in use of better teaching and training methods. Keeps informed on new methods, techniques, and developments in the training and sales field. May assist in developing new training courses associated with the introduction of new products or services.

Sales Training Director
