Works with the CEO and Board of Directors, setting the short- and long-term strategic objectives while providing the management necessary to achieve profits, growth, or other goals of the organization. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Reviews and determines methods and procedures to be used for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project. Ensures organization remains up-to-date in terms of technological changes, and communicates that information to appropriate directors and managers throughout the organization.
