Medical Top Professional Services Executive

Directs activities of multiple professional services units of a hospital. Organizational units may include but are not limited to three or more of the following professional areas: clinical divisions, pharmacy, social services, diagnostic imaging, laboratories, etc. Typically reports directly to the Hospital Administrator.: Coordinates activities with those of other hospital departments. Medical Informatics Executive

Directs and manages the development and implementation of clinical programs in health care informatics.: Develops and directs programs to provide clinical information to improve the work flow of patient care. Coordinates analytical support to include profiling, health economics, and business analytics or performance metrics for medical management. Provides leadership and strategic direction for medical informatics programs for patient services and related projects. Conducts assessments of medical informatics environments, synthesizes pertinent information, and identifies implications for planning and development of clinical services and educational programs. Works with administration and medical staff to identify the need for computer education, training, programs, and services for patient care, quality management, utilization management, clinical resource management, and performance improvement initiatives. Conducts ongoing technology assessments of medical information systems and products related to identifying and meeting patient needs. Responsible for overall planning, development, and implementation of health care informatics programs, products and services to address the clinical needs of patients and to support the practice of clinical staff. Prepares and manages the departmental budget. Hires, develops and motivates a qualified department staff. An advanced degree in a field of health and five years of related medical informatics experience are typically required for this position. The position requires strong clinical and quality improvement knowledge.

Reimbursement Head Medical

Directs and coordinates activities of employees engaged in reimbursement activities including conducting credit investigations and collecting delinquent accounts of customers. Reviews collection reports to ascertain status of collections-and-balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures. Assigns employees, directly or through subordinate supervisors, responsibility for notifying or locating customers with delinquent accounts and attempting to secure payment, using postal services, telephone, or personal visit; mailing form letters to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts; conferring with customers by telephone in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment; auditing delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible to ensure that maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad-debt status to accounts; coordinating with others, including personnel in credit card companies, to exchange information and update controls. Supervisors may report to this position.: Prepares and controls departmental annual budget. May negotiate major claims with insurance companies or other third party payers. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. May submit delinquent accounts to attorney or outside agency for collection.

Top Support/Ancillary Executive Medical

Directs activities of multiple supporting units of a hospital. Organizational units may include but are not limited to three or more of the following supporting areas: central supply, engineering, dietary, housekeeping, laundry, security, pharmacy, respiratory, physical, recreational, occupational therapy, medical records, etc. Typically reports directly to the Hospital Administrator.: Coordinates activities with those of other hospital departments. Establishes policies and procedures in cooperation with other hospital officials. Interprets and administers personnel policies and provides for training program. Reviews activities and recommends changes in, or better utilization of, facilities, services, and staff. Establishes and maintains work schedules and assignments of staff members. Authorizes purchase of supplies and equipment. Prepares and submits budget, records, reports, and statistical data.

Medical Staff Coordinator

Coordinates administrative support services for medical staff and medical staff officers. Coordinates processing of applications and appointments of medical staff and allied health professionals. Typically requires business or vocational training and related experience.: Oversees orientation of new medical staff members to hospital protocols and services. Coordinates communication of information between medical staff departments and administration. Coordinates and facilitates activities of medical staff committee meetings. Performs executive secretarial and office services for medical staff officers. Oversees billing, collection, and deposit of medical staff dues, including maintenance of related accounting records. May perform credentialing functions in smaller organizations.

Head of Medical Contracting

Negotiates to draw up contracts for managed care services related to physician groups. Negotiates, administers, extends, terminates, and renegotiates contracts. Formulates and coordinates proposals. Coordinates activities of workers engaged in formulating bid proposals. May report to Top Managed Care Executive, Chief Executive Officer, or Chief Financial Officer in organization.: Evaluates or monitors health outcome and contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations. Approves or rejects requests for deviations from contract specifications. Arbitrates claims or complaints occurring in performance of contracts. May serve as liaison officer to ensure fulfillment of obligations by contractors.

Medical Laser Technician

Operates a variety of surgical and cosmetic lasers and other equipment to treat different pathologies in operating rooms and/or doctor's offices. Operates various medical lasers and related equipment at the direction of Physician to provide safe, effective patient treatment. Typically requires previous health care experience and training in use of medical laser equipment.: Sets up various medical lasers and equipment in operating rooms and ensures that all equipment is properly processed and available for use. Interacts with operating room personnel in an efficient manner and maintains awareness of principles of sterility and asepsis. Complies with all JCAHO, HIPAA, OSHA, FDA, and all other regulatory standards. Assists Physician in the preparation of routine microbiological specimens and in various research studies. Performs preliminary screening examinations for Physician review. Trains and guides less experienced Medical Laboratory Technicians. Maintains detailed records of tests performed and reports laboratory test results to appropriate personnel. Calibrates and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning. Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware and instruments.

Medical Laboratory Assistant

Performs a variety of routine non-technical duties in assisting technical and professional personnel in clinical and research laboratories. Labels and delivers laboratory specimens to the appropriate department of the hospital or medical facility.: Accesses lab specimens for use in analytical studies. Answers telephones and greets patients visiting the department. Cleans and sterilizes equipment, instruments, and glassware. Sterilizes biohazardous waste, specimens, and media. Inventories linens, lab coats, and personal protection equipment. Orders, sorts, organizes, and stores laboratory supplies. Searches for and locates missing specimens and investigates inappropriately labeled specimens. Maintains assigned work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Maintains departmental records and performs general administrative duties. May run errands and pick up supplies.

Medical Claims Review Nurse

Resolves, audits, and processes claims for clinically related issues to ensure accuracy of claims payment, supporting the Claims Administration Department. Maintains contact with community hospitals and providers, reviewing, processing, and auditing claims for payment and appropriateness of charges and pursues adjustments as warranted. Typically requires licensure as a Registered Nurse and at least one year of experience in utilization review or a managed care setting.: Screens, audits, and processes claims of specific criteria for appropriate payment. Establishes effective ongoing relationships with community hospitals and providers. Participates in educational, provider relations, and contracting meetings with providers to address medical claims payment issues. Visits the providers as necessary to compare billed charges to the medical record. Provides support to the Accounting Department in determining financial liability for out-of-plan medical services. Performs special projects, reconciliations, research, and analysis relating to the utilization and cost of medical services. Works closely with various departments to coordinate the flow of information involving payment of medical bills and analyses of financial liability. Ensures compliance with contractual obligations on claims payments. Documents findings and writes follow-up reports. Recommends and implements innovative strategies to retain members, contain medical costs, and improve efficiency.
