Reviews application forms and completes pre-admission assessment forms to determine appropriateness for admission. Contacts insurance representatives to confirm authorization. Coordinates hospital returns. Maintains liaison with insurance companies, health maintenance organizations, managed care contract companies and other third parties to obtain insurance verification data and pre-certification approval for admissions. Responsible for records of admission, transfer, discharges, patient's necessary personal and financial data, and occupancy-census data. Medical Coder

Compiles and maintains medical records of patients of health care delivery system to document patient condition and treatment. Reviews medical records for completeness and to abstract and code clinical data, such as diseases, operations, procedures, and therapies, using standard classification systems. : Compiles medical care and census data for statistical reports on types of diseases treated, surgery performed, and use of hospital beds, in response to inquiries from law firms, insurance companies, and government agencies. Maintains and utilizes variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems. Operates computer to process, store, and retrieve health information. Assists Medical Records Administrator in special studies or research as needed. May code medical records for reimbursement purposes.

Medical Writer

Researches, writes, and edits clinical and statistical reports and study protocols.: Performs research and writes clinical reports. Edits clinical and statistical reports and protocols. Summarizes data from clinical studies. Initiates and maintains communication with relevant departments and agencies. Provides reference, instruction and information services to staff as requested. Provides consultation services on research strategies, tactics and tools. Delivers diverse scientific, medical, technical and business research/reference services. Reviews books, journals, technical reports and electronic media relevant to health care needs. This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree and three of technical or medical writing experience. An advanced degree may be required.

Medical Biller

Perform secretarial duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, or laboratory procedures. Duties include scheduling appointments, billing patients, and compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
