Mechanical Engineering Manager

Manages and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the design and development of new or modified products. Coordinates the creation of blueprints and other engineering data. Mechanical Engineering Technician

Assists mechanical engineers in the design, development, testing, and manufacturing of machinery, consumer products, and other equipment, applying knowledge of mechanical engineering technology, under direction of engineering and scientific staff. Work is more limited in scope and more practically oriented than that of scientists and engineers.: Assists in product tests. Makes sketches and rough layouts, records data, makes computations, analyzes results, and writes reports. Prepares layouts and drawings of the assembly process and of parts to be manufactured. Estimates labor costs, equipment life, and plant space. Reviews project instructions and blueprints to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions, such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies. Drafts detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet metal or wood shops. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products, such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, servo systems, machine tools, and measuring instruments. Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control. Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives, and modifies or adjusts equipment to meet specifications. Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method. May test and inspect machines and equipment in manufacturing departments or work with engineers to eliminate production problems.

Mechanical Engineering Design Technologist

Apply theory and principles of mechanical engineering to modify, develop, and test machinery and equipment under direction of engineering staff or physical scientists.

Vice President Engineering

Plans, develops, directs, and oversees all planning and implementation of practices, policies, programs, procedures, and personnel activities of an organization's engineering efforts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, design, modify, and improve company products and/or services; design testing and maintenance of production processes, machinery, and/or equipment; design and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and physical layout; reliability improvements; cost engineering; construction and engineering project management; and other related activities. Directs engineering management in formulating plans, designs, cost estimates, and specifications. Reviews, approves, and coordinates product and process changes to maintain or improve cost/benefit ratio. Assesses working conditions to ensure compliance with all regulations and safety standards.

Administrative Engineering Director

Directs administrative engineering staff, scheduling, coordinating, and planning. Organizes and coordinates various sections of engineering. Directs planning and establishing of engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates. Typically reports to Engineering Top Officer and Administrative Engineering Manager reports to this position.: Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary. Directs assembly of cost control and statistical data and the development of material selection standards. Approves process specification and design standards. Oversees preparation and control of departmental annual budget.

Building Maintenance Supervisor Mechanical

Supervises and coordinates activities of skilled trades workers engaged in maintaining and repairing equipment, structures, utility systems, buildings, and grounds. Prepares work schedules and gives work assignments to subordinates. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Directs workers engaged in major painting projects; performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings; and maintaining and repairing building utility systems, such as electrical wiring and controls, heating and ventilating systems. Supervises workers engaged in installing, servicing, and repairing mechanical equipment. Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies. Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy and practices. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. Performs related work as required. May supervise security to protect employees and property. May direct workers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, raking and disposing of leaves and refuse, and snow removal. May supervise custodial services. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Engineering Manager

Manages and trains an engineering team and coordinates activities of engineering department to design, process, project, and develop, produce, improve, and test components, products, systems, and services. Works on or serves as a resource on projects requiring advanced knowledge of a particular field of specialization. Provides planning, direction, and coordination for all technical activities while achieving optimum use of workers, equipment, materials, and facilities. Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects. Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Recommends and implements new policies and procedures as directed. Initiates cost reduction proposals from other sources, compiles appropriate information, makes recommendations for action, and checks on results obtained. Prepares and controls department budget, forecasts operating costs of department, and directs preparation of budget requests.
