Warehouse Director

Plans and directs warehousing activities for a commercial or industrial establishment. Establishes strategic direction for warehousing activities of the organization. Typically reports to Warehouse Director and may have supervisors reporting to this position.: Ensures products, parts, or supplies are shipped, distributed, or received in an efficient manner. Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment and prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment. Works with director in ensuring coordination of warehouse activities such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing departments. Takes precautions to secure warehouse contents against loss. Evaluates inventory on hand. Prepares or reviews distribution documents. Manages salvage of damaged or used material. Screens, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action for warehouse personnel. May participate in planning personnel-safety and plant-protection activities.

Distribution Warehouse Manager

Directs and coordinates activities of wholesaler's distribution warehouse: reviews bills of lading for incoming merchandise and customer orders in order to plan work activities. Assigns workers to specific duties, such as verifying amounts of and storing incoming merchandise and assembling customer orders for delivery. Establishes operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, and keeping of warehouse inventory. Coordinates activities of distribution warehouse with activities of sales, record control, and purchasing departments to ensure availability of merchandise. Directs reclamation of damaged merchandise.

Tobacco Warehouse Manager

Manages tobacco warehouse: oversees auction sale of consigned tobacco to wholesale buyers. Ascertains eligibility of each purchaser before completing sale. Supervises workers engaged in collecting payment from buyers and paying growers for tobacco sold. Directs advertisement of firm through printed matter and subordinates who contact prospective customers.

Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Manages work assignments in staffing, scheduling, coordinating, and planning of personnel engaged in manufacturing engineering activities. Organizes and coordinates sections of the engineering department. Plans and establishes engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates. Supervises assembly of cost control and statistical data. Supervises development of material selection standards. Supervisory engineering level positions may report to this manager level. This position is distinguished by the complexity of work that requires a degree in engineering.: Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary. Manufacturing Manager

Coordinates work of various departments to coordinate the manufacturing for an organization. Coordinates production at a single facility or in some cases production of several smaller facilities. Assigns duties and coordinate activities of supervisors and/or employees engaged in production. Typically reports to Head of Manufacturing or a division manager and may have supervisors or managers of lower level departments reporting to this position.: Ensures manufacture of products on schedule, in accordance with quality standards, and at the lowest possible cost with the highest quality. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. Warehouse Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates daily activities of workers engaged in materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling, shipping, and maintaining stock in a storeroom or warehouse. Reviews shipping or receiving orders and requests for movement of materials and products, prepares work schedules, gives work assignments to subordinates. This position typically reports to the Warehouse Manager and is the first level of supervision.: Jobs supervised include storing items in bins, on floors, or on shelves in storeroom or warehouse for removal, marking or tagging articles for identification purposes, maintaining records of inventory, filling orders, issuing materials to office or production areas, and submitting requisitions for replacement stock. Assists with design and implementation of work methods and operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current. Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment, prepares work order for repairs, and requisitions for replacement of equipment. Reviews work processes, recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product or service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Supervises salvage of damaged or used material. Keeps accurate records, and prepares and submits required paperwork. Screens and provides input on hiring warehouse personnel. May train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Warehouse Traffic Supervisor

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in unloading and placing tobacco on auction warehouse floor and directs traffic to and from warehouse: directs drivers of loaded vehicles to unloading site, and empty vehicles to exits, to expedite unloading of vehicles and avoid traffic congestion. Directs workers to place loads of tobacco in designated areas on warehouse floor. May estimate amount of floor space available to prevent overcrowding of warehouse floor. Performs other duties as described under supervisor.
