Marketing Media Director

Plans and administers media programs in advertising department. Media Manager

Confers with advertising agents or media representatives to select specific programs and negotiate advertising to ensure optimum use of budgeted funds and long-term contracts. Typically reports to Media Marketing Director and may direct media supervisors.: Adjusts broadcasting schedules due to program cancellations. Studies demographic data and consumer profiles to identify target audiences of media advertising. Reads trade journals and professional literature to stay informed of trends, innovations, and changes that affect media planning.

Social Service and Activity Director

Manages a department responsible for planning, implementation, scope, and emphasis of a long-term care facility's activity and social service program to encourage and stimulate residents to achieve fuller and richer lives. Manages social services programs in accordance with accepted medical social work practices. Works with physicians, staff, residents, and their families to assess patient social needs and facilitate progress of medical treatment. Typically requires a master's degree in social work and four years of professional social work job experience.: Assists in the development of policies regarding facility planning for health and welfare services. Plans, recommends, and administers departmental budget and physical and staff requirements within established policies, practices, and procedures. Plans, evaluates, and interprets statistical, narrative, and analytical reports to reveal department's services and needs. Hires, trains, and motivates a qualified Social Worker and Social Aide staff. Participates in community planning regarding health and social services relative to departmental program and promotes coordination and cooperation of other agencies and local officials. Provides professional counseling services to residents and families regarding programs, procedures, qualifications, and treatment for social-legal problems. Provides counseling and guidance to patients in applying for financial or medical assistance.

Policy Analyst Social Policy

Provides analytical support and conducts quantitative and qualitative research, working on the broad range of topics covered under social policy initiatives that cover each sector of society, including Federal, State, and local government, employers, individuals, and civil society. Conducts critical research on various approaches to social policy in developing entities from organizations to countries. Evaluates academic literature and economic data. Performs analyses of policy proposals, and participates in policy design efforts, organizing principles and detailed policy proposals. Consults with and assists congressional committees, members, staff, and/or other policy makers with consideration of legislative social policy issues by providing information and analysis and applying professional subject-area knowledge.: Participates in planning, organizing, and coordinating group research and analysis efforts. Participates in professional conferences, seminars, workshops, and/or outreach programs. Locates and provides requested information. Prepares a variety of descriptive and background reports, memoranda, and/or written materials on Federal, State, and local social policy issues. Provides detailed comments and feedback on draft research reports. Assists in editing research papers and preparing them for publication and assists in the drafting of new research proposals. Authors or co-authors research papers on topics relevant to the program with which they are associated. Identifies potential researchers who might collaborate with the program. Informs and shapes key social policy debates that figure into the elections of top government officials, as well as in the newest congress and administration, in policy areas such as education, health care, economic security, retirement security, asset ownership, education reform, work and family, fundamental tax reform, budget policy, and workforce and family programs. Briefs members of congress, congressional staff, administration officials, regulators, and other policymakers. Assists in pubic education and outreach efforts that focus on opinion leaders and policymakers. Demonstrates ability to accurately and concisely summarize complex information to multiple audiences, and communicates policy ideas and legislative proposals concisely and effectively to diverse audiences.

Media Buyer

Negotiates purchases of advertising media time and space for client, following media plan: Reviews media plan specifications detailing budget, type of media, and desired time schedule for advertisement placement. Reviews rating services statistics on different factors, such as audience numbers in different time slots, viewing or reading patterns based on geographic differences, and demographic characteristics of audiences to deliver guaranteed audience ratings. Enters specified data onto computer work sheet to develop media schedule, including list of media where ads are to appear; dates of insertion, airing, or posting; space, time, or other units to be used; and cost. Reviews charges for selected media, such as television, radio, newspaper, billboard, transit, shopping center, signage, banner towing by plane, and bus shelters. Reviews discount structures, special buying opportunities, and other factors influencing cost of advertising. Determines most effective and efficient ways to spend client's money to achieve maximum ad exposure for lowest cost. Calls media representatives and negotiates price of advertisement placement, applying knowledge of supply and demand statistics. Analyzes ratings of actual versus estimated audiences. Performs post performance analysis of ads to verify that ads ran as specified. Calls media representative to negotiate additional time due for preemptions or audience deficiency. Reviews invoices for discrepancies. Contacts media representative or MEDIA PLANNER (business ser.) 164.117-022 to resolve invoice discrepancies. May authorize payment to media for advertising. May perform duties of MEDIA PLANNER (business ser.) in small establishments and be designated Media Planner-Buyer (business ser.).

Media Supervisor

Supervises media programs in advertising department. Confers with representatives of advertising agencies, product managers, and corporate advertising staff to establish media goals, objectives, and strategies within corporate advertising budget. Confers with advertising agents or media representatives to select specific programs and negotiate advertising to ensure optimum use of budgeted funds and long-term contracts. Typically reports to Media Manager and is the first level of supervision.: Adjusts broadcasting schedules due to program cancellations. Studies demographic data and consumer profiles to identify target audiences of media advertising. Reads trade journals and professional literature to stay informed of trends, innovations, and changes that affect media planning.

Social Group Worker

Develops program content, organizes, and leads activities planned to enhance social development of individual members and accomplishment of group goals: interviews individual members to assess social and emotional capabilities and plans group composition in relation to personal and social compatibility of members. Selects program appropriate to particular group goals, level of development, needs, capacities, and interests of group members. Involves members in planning and assuming responsibility for activities. Helps members through group experience to develop attitudes and social skills for improved family relations and community responsibility. May secure supplementary information, such as medical records and school reports. May work in collaboration with other professional disciplines. Refers members, when indicated, to community resources and other organizations. Employed in agencies, such as community center, settlement house, youth serving organization, institution for children or aged, hospital, or penal institution. Usually required to have skills acquired through degree program at school of social work.

Social Worker Delinquency Prevention

Works through community action programs to ameliorate social conditions tending to cause juvenile delinquency and provides counseling and guidance to juveniles: aids civil authorities to plan urban, suburban, and rural development to ensure provisions for meeting social needs of youth. Works with individuals and groups in danger of becoming delinquent, through individual and group guidance and through use of community resources. Refers juveniles to community agencies, such as settlement houses, child guidance clinics, and health clinics, for mental, physical, and social rehabilitation. Works closely with law enforcement agencies, schools, employers, health, welfare, and recreation agencies. Usually attached to public agency.

Social Service Caseworker

Counsels and aids individuals and families requiring assistance of social service agency: interviews clients with problems, such as personal and family adjustments, finances, employment, food, clothing, housing, and physical and mental impairments to determine nature and degree of problem. Secures information, such as medical, psychological, and social factors contributing to client's situation, and evaluates these and client's capacities. Counsels client individually, in family, or in other small groups regarding plans for meeting needs, and aids client to mobilize inner capacities and environmental resources to improve social functioning. Helps client to modify attitudes and patterns of behavior by increasing understanding of self, personal problems, and client's part in creating them. Refers clients to community resources and other organizations. Compiles records and prepares reports. Reviews service plan and performs follow-up to determine quantity and quality of service provided client and status of client's case. Accesses and records client and community resource information, manually or using computer equipped with keyboard, to input and retrieve information. May secure supplementary information, such as employment, medical records, or school reports. May specialize in providing, monitoring, and evaluating services provided to older adults. May determine client's eligibility for financial assistance. May work in collaboration with other professional disciplines. May be required to visit clients in their homes or in institutions. Usually required to have knowledge and skill in case work method acquired through degree program at school of social work. May be required to possess state license or certificate.

Media Art Director

Design special exhibits and movie, television, and theater sets. May study scripts, confer with directors, and conduct research to determine appropriate architectural styles.
