Computer Programmer Lead

Leads in the adherence to planning, policies, practices, and personnel while overseeing a computer programming project or group of programmers. Assigns, coordinates, and reviews work of programming personnel. Usually reports to a supervisor of programming. Position is distinguished from a supervisor as position does not have full responsibility for recruiting, hiring, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions. Typically requires a four-year college degree in field of specialty; however, some companies may accept equivalent education and experience combined.: Plans, schedules, and directs preparation of programs to process data and solve problems by use of computers. Consults with managerial and systems analysis personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, suggest changes, and determine extent of programming and coding required. Develops programs from workflow charts or diagrams, considering factors, such as computer storage capacity and speed, extent of peripheral equipment, and intended use of output data. Converts workflow charts to language that can be processed by computer. Enters program codes into computer. Enters test data into computer. Analyzes test runs on computer to correct or direct correction of coded program and input data. Revises or directs revision of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Compiles documentation of program development and subsequent revisions. Trains subordinates in programming and program coding. Prescribes standards for terms and symbols used to simplify interpretation of programs. Collaborates with computer manufacturers and other users to develop new programming methods. Prepares records and reports.

Software Developer Lead

Serves as a technical expert in the design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of new software or complex enhancements to existing software. Leads and coordinates a team of Software Developers on a particular project.: Works with technical staff to understand and develop resolution of software problems. Resolves customer complaints with software, and responds to suggestions for software modifications or enhancements. Assists in the training of less experienced software development staff. Instructs, directs, assigns tasks to, and monitors the performance of assigned Software Developers working on the project. Assists in the scheduling and coordinating of projects and participates in the design phase of the project. May participate in the development of software user manuals.

Union Business Representative

Manages business affairs of labor union. Coordinates and directs such union functions as promoting local membership, placing union members on jobs, arranging local meetings, and maintaining relations between union and employers and press representatives. : Visits work sites to ensure management and labor employees adhere to union contract specifications. May assist in developing plant production and safety and health measures. May negotiate with management on hours, wages, individual grievances, and other work-related matters affecting employees.

Business Broker

Buys and sells business enterprises or investment property on speculative or commission basis. Must be licensed by state.: Reviews trade journals, business opportunity advertisements, or other publications to ascertain business enterprises or investment property up for sale. Investigates financial rating of business, customer appeal for type of merchandise, and desirability of location for type of business or condition and location of investment property. Estimates cost of improving business or property and potential market value to determine resale value. Purchases business or property on speculative basis or on commission basis for client. Repairs, remodels, or redecorates building; purchases competitive merchandise; and installs sound management practices to improve value of property or business acquisition. Contacts prospective clients through newspaper advertisements or mailing lists. Describes to client selling points of property or business, emphasizing such factors as improvements made and profit potential. Sells business or property to buyer and makes arrangements for escrow and title change.

Business Services Analyst

Formulates and defines the scope and objectives of business systems based on both user needs and an understanding of information technology, business processes, and industry requirements. Applies extensive knowledge of the customer's business and industry to develop project specifications. Analyzes business and user needs, documents requirements, and translates into proper system requirements specifications.: Researches, identifies, and develops solutions to problems. Advises on methods to improve business processes. Coordinates and participates in proposals, feasibility studies, implementations, and new business development. Considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. May lead the training of customers and peers.

e-Commerce Business Analyst

Plans and performs analysis of e-commerce activities and/or functions and guides the subsequent design and implementation or improvement of existing e-commerce applications. Utilizes available personnel and computer system resources to analyze, design, and modify information, applications, methods, systems, and procedures related to e-commerce to determine the most useful solutions for the company. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science, in addition to some practical experience.: Determines the most effective ways in which information should be collected and processed. Tests, debugs, investigates, and corrects program-related problems, and creates and provides effective and reliable documentation. Analyzes, interprets, and makes recommendations based on gathered data, in the form of formal proposals and/or presentations to upper management. Depending on experience, may lead, train, and guide the work of less senior analysts. May perform proactive activities related to the completion and implementation of a project.

Business Systems Analyst

Analyzes business processes, functions, and procedures to determine the most effective business systems software to meet the needs of the organization. Establishes systems specifications and objectives, based on business requirements and cost effectiveness, and provides recommendations to management personnel. Participates in systems development and design, including software programming and table, report, and panel design. Formulates test plans and coordinates and performs software testing. This job typically requires a four-year degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.: Coordinates implementation of the system software, including conversion of data to the new system, and works with application support personnel to resolve system problems. Documents system specifications and notes any changes in procedure. Acts as liaison between systems software development staff, management, and system end-users to determine requirements and obtain sign-off. Provides training and technical support to system end-users.

Systems Analyst Lead

Leads professional-level systems analysts engaged in the activities of solving computer problems and enabling computer technology to meet the needs of the organization. Business Intelligence Analyst

Analyzes historical, current, and predictive views of business operations, most often using data already gathered into a data warehouse or a data mart and occasionally working from operational data. Relies on skills, knowledge, technologies, applications, quality, risks, security issues, and practices used to help the business acquire a better understanding of market behavior and commercial context. Assists in the collection, extraction, integration, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and reporting of business information.: Analyzes business performance, which may include, production, financial, and many other sources of business data for purposes that include business performance management. Teams with program managers to produce timely customer deliverables and define reporting and data requirements. Collaborates with clients to define business rules associated with data input and tracking and to understand and define their business objectives and goals. Designs and leads program strategy based on nature of customer data, processes, and needs. Works with other Business Analysts to define requirements and design, develop, and implement automated solutions and processes across all managed programs. Performs analysis to validate the accuracy of data being reported and provides trend and early-warning analysis. Monitors, tracks, and understands industry trends and the factors that drive them.

Technical Business Analyst

Provides support to technical professionals with regard to a variety of administrative, systems, and business operations problems, and participates in related system development projects of the most complex nature. Determines and defines system specifications, process improvement, quality assurance, interaction with customers and technical staff, problem resolution, and project-lead activities.: Plans and performs technical analysis of company functions, processes, and activities to improve business applications for the most effective use of money, materials, equipment, and people. Utilizes available computer systems resources and personnel to carry out technical analysis in support of management's performance improvement goals. Analyzes information, forecasts, methods, schedules, systems, processes, and procedures to determine most useful business solutions for the company. Proposes alternative solutions to management as to courses of action that best meet the organization's goals. Works closely with senior managers to identify and solve a variety of computer-based business system problems. Analyzes requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing technical business systems. Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures and identify problems. Solicits from management symptoms of problem, formally defines the problem, breaks problem into component parts, and gathers information about each of these parts from a variety of sources. Selects the most appropriate analytical technique.
