Inventory Control Manager

The manager level is typically the second level of management and may have first level supervisors reporting to this position; however, in smaller organizations the manager may be a first level supervisor over subordinate staff.: Responsible for managing a variety of activities including replenishing inventory as required by production schedules and/or customer orders while minimizing inventory and carrying cost; comparing inventories taken by other workers with office records or computes figures from sales, equipment, shipping, production, purchase, or stock records to obtain current theoretical inventory; verifying clerical computations against physical count of stock and adjusting errors in computation or count, or investigating and reporting reasons for discrepancies. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces safety regulations. Recruits, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Inventory Control Supervisor

Supervises inventory personnel who compile records of amount, kind, and value of merchandise, material, or stock on hand. Verifies employee computations against physical count of inventory and adjusts errors in computation or count, or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies. Prepares work schedules, and gives work assignments to subordinates. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Supervises employees engaged in counting stock, material, or merchandise on hand and posting totals to computerized inventory records; comparing inventories with office records or computing figures from sales, equipment, shipping, production, purchase, or stock records to obtain current theoretical inventory; compiling information on receipt or disbursement of goods and computes inventory balance, price, and costs; and preparing reports of inventory balance, prices, shortages. May hire, train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Inventory Analyst

Collects, evaluates, and reports data in order to manage inventory. Analyzes inventory records. Interprets results of overall inventory. Collects sales records and trends and evaluates performance measured against inventory budgets. Conducts statistical and financial analysis, and recommends levels of inventory required by production schedules and/or customer orders while minimizing inventory and carrying costs. Excludes paraprofessional positions.: May evaluate current economic conditions and prepares forecasts.

Works with other departments, such as sales and purchasing, to ensure optimization of inventory level. Works with shipping department to certify accuracy of shipping records and to ensure customer satisfaction. Monitors variations in forecasts, and performs corrective actions as needed. Identifies and eliminates obsolete and excess inventory.
