Planner Inventory Control

Coordinates distribution of goods to ensure that current inventory levels are within set parameters to meet customer demands. Plans and forecasts for future inventory levels based on sales forecast, current inventory levels, and outstanding purchase orders. This position typically requires a four-year degree or related experience.: Establishes appropriate inventory levels and determines reorder points. Works with other departments, such as sales and purchasing, to ensure optimization of inventory level. Works with shipping department to certify accuracy of shipping records and to ensure customer satisfaction. Monitors variations in forecasts, and performs corrective actions as needed. Identifies and eliminates obsolete and excess inventory.

Clerk Inventory Control

Compiles and maintains records of quantity, type, and value of material, property, equipment, merchandise, or supplies. Counts material, property, equipment, merchandise, or supplies and posts totals to inventory/property records. Verifies record computations against physical count of inventory and adjusts errors in computation or count, or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.: Compares inventories to office records, or computes figures from records, such as sales orders, production records, or purchase invoices to obtain current inventory. Compiles information on receipt or disbursement of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies, and computes inventory balance, price, and cost. Prepares reports, such as inventory balance, price lists, and shortages. Prepares list of depleted items and recommends survey of defective or unusable items. May operate various office machines. May stock and issue materials or merchandise.
