Top Product Development Officer

Oversees all activities and directs staff of supervisory, professional, and support personnel concerned with planning, research, and development of new or improvement of existing products, processes, and services, and new ventures. Plans, develops, and establishes policies, procedures, and objectives of all the organization's research and development functions in accordance with organization's objectives. Typically reports to the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Operating Officer and the Research & Development Director reports directly to this position.: Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if strategic benefits are derived and if possible applications justify expenditures. Reviews and decides upon research and development proposals to be presented to top management. Approves and monitors research and development budget. Reviews and determines methods and procedures to be used for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project. Ensures organization remains up-to-date in terms of technological changes, and communicates that information to appropriate directors and managers throughout the organization.

Product Development Specialist

Researches, develops, and implements new products to effectively compete in the market. Manages projects from the concept phase through the development lifecycle to successful production launch. Provides analytical and tactical support in development of product plans. : Conducts research preparing for new product development. Contributes technical expertise to the product design and development. Evaluates internal and external market trends and makes recommendations for existing product enhancements and new product development. Assists in requirements analysis and the definition of functional specifications for the development group. Collaborates with Product Managers, design, development, and testing groups, and Marketing, Manufacturing, Legal, and other departments to bring products to market. Produces workflows and prototypes. Provides accurate time estimates on projects and identifies risks with each alternative. Supports the quality control department from a technical perspective. Assists in trouble-shooting. May provide product training to internal and external customers. May assist in the authoring of product documentation.

Product Marketing Engineer

Develops new product ideas and drives them through the development process, including inception, justification, development, product launch, and maturity. Leads the creation of the product business case based on interactions with customers in the consumer market.: Identifies, quantifies, and justifies new product ideas and potential markets. Contributes to the product roadmap and business strategy, and collaborates with others on the company's long-term vision. Creates comprehensive new product business cases that communicate customer needs and key new product parameters to the product development team, while also justifying the financial investment and working to create products that exploit the advantages of the company. Creates new product launch plans that detail the sales collateral and press engagement. Creates sales tools and conducts sales and distributor trainings. Identifies and engages with key customers to drive product adoption. Manages outside resources to create and publish press releases, advertisements, white papers, and conference materials. Forecasts and is accountable for new product revenue, pricing strategies, and end-of-life activities.

Director Product Development

Directs, coordinates, and administers the planning, research, and development function improving existing or creating new products, processes, services, ideologies, territorial expansion, and/or development of new ventures for an organization. Plans and formulates aspects of research and development proposals, such as objective or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, and equipment and human resource requirements. This position typically reports to the Research Top Officer or Product Development Top Officer, and the Research and Development Manager normally reports to this position.: Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures. Submits proposals considered feasible to management for further consideration and recommends allocation of funds to support them. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project. Conducts testing and pilot runs for new or improved products or services. Prepares reports on progress and recommends the addition, expansion, or discontinuance of projects. Prepares and administers research and development budget. May recruit, hire, and train department staff, evaluate staff performance, and develop goals and objectives for staff. May negotiate contracts with consulting firms to perform research studies.

Chief Internet Creative Executive

Heads and oversees the overall quality, innovation, and creative vision of the Internet portion of an organization's business. Plans, develops, and establishes objectives, policies, and programs for the Internet marketing and sales activities of the organization. Heads the overall organizational effort and provides leadership and guidance in the development and management of concepts, strategies, planning, implementation, and coordination of Internet design and marketing projects.: Oversees lower management and designers in developing and executing website designs and e-mail marketing designs and projects. Provides input to designing web interfaces using techniques based on usability theory, navigational structure, and concepts related to creating visual flow. Develops and maintains solid client relations, plans leading-edge Internet strategies, and communicates and justifies concepts. Provides direction and leadership to freelance resources where appropriate. Reads trade journals and periodicals to remain up-to-date on current and emerging trends and technologies in the area of e-commerce.

Internet Traffic Analyst

Tracks and analyzes number and quality of visitors to gauge effectiveness of the website. Monitors, compiles, analyzes, and evaluates incoming website traffic. Typically requires a four-year degree or related experience.: Generates reports on web traffic and trends and patterns including revenue, conversion, and marketing campaign performance. Coordinates marketing objectives with web developers based on system capabilities. Tracks time spent at site. Researches, evaluates, and makes recommendations for purchase of web analysis software. May recommend changes to website and provides cost/benefit analysis of such changes. May work with marketing department to increase site's stickiness and reduce shopping cart abandonment rate.

Analyst Internet Traffic

Increases generation of inbound web leads. : Tracks and measures online advertising programs and creates test strategies to optimize results. Participates in e-mail marketing campaigns including testing, mailing strategies, copy, design, file size growth, and results analysis. Develops messaging strategies for banner ads. Creates online promotions encouraging site registration and sales. Creates and distributes reports highlighting the latest results in e-mail, affiliate, search, and overall Internet marketing. Serves as a liaison with call center and operations regarding marketing, promotions, merchandising, and customer service communications as they pertain to the e-commerce website(s). Develops and maintains processes, tools, and schedules for Internet marketing.

Product Designer

Designs plans, prototypes, and creates patterns of new products according to specifications. Writes specifications for materials, taking into account cost and production limitations. : Stays abreast of product and design trends, as well as new development processes. May work with computer-assisted drafting or design programs.

Product Assembler (Machine)

Assembles products according to customer's needs, following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications. Plans assembly procedures, following specifications and using knowledge gained by experience. This position is viewed as skilled and is distinguished from the Product Assembler (Bench) as it requires more training and experience, generally one to two years, to perform the activities. May require some vocational school training.: Operates production line equipment of a level of complexity requiring the specified training or assembling products, units, machines, equipment, and/or subassemblies that are larger, heavier, and/or more complex than those assembled by Product Assembler (Bench). Mounts and connects auxiliary, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic or hydraulic equipment; cuts and fits pipe and tubing. Removes small quantities of metal, using hand files or portable grinders, to clean parts or to produce close fit between parts. Drills, taps, or reams holes, using drill press or portable drill. Aligns components, and bolts, screws, or rivets them together, using hand tools or portable powered tools. Installs moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and works them to test free movement. May bend and install pipe for hydraulic systems. May align and mesh gears in gearbox to assemble system of gears. May operate drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly operation. May test or assist in testing operation of completed product.
