Evaluates proposed data processing projects to assess adequacy of existing hardware, and recommends purchase of equipment. Develops budget and monitors expenditures. May direct and coordinate activities of tape library.

IT Manager Applications

Manages and coordinates the development, creation, installation, and maintenance of computer programs to process data using business and scientific applications. IT Manager Software Design

Manages and coordinates software engineering function in the research, design, and development of computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Assigns, coordinates, and reviews work of software engineering supervisors. The manager level is typically the second level of management; however, in smaller companies the manager may be a first level supervisor over subordinate staff.: Designs programs considering factors, such as computer storage capacity and speed, extent of peripheral equipment, and intended use of output data. Administers personnel functions including recruiting, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, and selection and placement of personnel. Quality Control Manager

Manages, plans, coordinates, and directs quality control program designed to ensure continuous production/service consistent with established standards. Manages the development and analysis of statistical data and specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy. This is typically the second level of supervision and a Quality Control Supervisor/Administrator may report to this position; however, in smaller organizations, this position may be the first level of supervision.: Formulates and maintains quality control objectives, and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize quality and reliability and to minimize costs. Manages, through intermediate personnel, workers engaged in activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, services, and products. Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to quality and reliability. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy and practices. May investigate customer complaints regarding quality and make appropriate adjustments.

Order Processing Manager

Manages, plans, organizes, and controls the activities of personnel in order-writing department who write and process master orders used by production, shipping, invoicing, advertising, cost, and estimating departments. Plans and develops order-writing procedures, systems, and methods using knowledge of company products, pricing methods, and discount classifications. The manager level is typically the second level of management and may have first level supervisors reporting to this position; however, in smaller companies the manager may be directly over subordinate staff.: Directs the establishment and maintenance of customer order records, such as discount classifications, cost basis, special routing, and transportation information. Communicates with appropriate department managers to coordinate and resolve customer order problems. Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares department budget. Prepares reports and records on department activities for management. Ensures adequate training of staff and employee compliance to organization's policies and practices. Cost Estimating Manager

Manages and coordinates, through subordinate personnel, employees engaged in estimating the cost of the design, tooling, manufacture, and modification of products or projects. Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes. Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness. Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions. Typically reports to a director and may have supervisory level personnel reporting to this position.: Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Develops and implements methods, such as preparation of records of expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status of work activities. Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists. Prepares department budget, identifying budget needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budget's funds. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Confers with administrative personnel, and reviews activity, operating, and sales reports to determine changes in estimates. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. May specialize according to particular service performed, type of product manufactured, or phase of work involved, such as tool and fixture costs, production costs, construction costs, or material costs.

Marketing Administration Manager

Manages marketing and/or sales administration. Ensures marketing/selling activities are in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures. Directs and coordinates personnel who provide administrative sales and marketing support. Typically reports to a director.: Updates the status of sales orders and coordinates deliveries from the point of production and distribution. Directs personnel program. Coordinates, confers, and negotiates with managers from the company's business units, internal departments, and web development staff. Provides leadership for the website development staff. Provides marketing advice to organizational units. Makes forecasts on anticipated market sales. Promotes satisfactory customer relations. Monitors and reviews website visitor access patterns and trends, adjusting strategies and plans as appropriate. Works closely with design and content teams to ensure site meets marketing objectives. Tracks current and emerging e-commerce trends.
