Top Labor Relations Officer

Directs and maintains successful labor-management relationships of an organization, formulating and implementing employee programs and company policies and objectives. Represents management in negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements, including terms and conditions such as wages, hours of work, working conditions, and grievance procedures. Works with CEO and Board of Directors, setting the short- and long-term strategic objectives while providing the management necessary to achieve profits, growth, or other goals of the organization. Labor Relations Director

Directs the labor-management relations activities of an organization. Formulates and administers policy for subordinate managers of departments, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, and employee services, according to knowledge of company objectives, government regulations, and labor contract terms. Monitors and ensures adherence to all labor contract provisions. Typically reports to Labor Relations Top Officer and Labor Relations Manager reports to this position.: Writes directives advising department managers of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits. Analyzes wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plan. Studies legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends. Consults legal staff to ensure that policies comply with Federal and State law. Prepares personnel forecast to project employment needs. Writes and delivers presentation to corporate officers or government officials regarding industrial relations policies and practices.

Labor Relations Manager

Manages labor-management relations program of organization. Analyzes collective bargaining agreement to develop interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contract. Advises management and labor/union officials in development, application, and interpretation of labor relations policies and practices, according to policy formulated by upper management. Typically reports to Labor Relations Director and Labor Relations Supervisor or Representative usually reports to this position.: Works with Labor Relations Representative in arranging and scheduling meetings between grieving workers, supervisory and managerial personnel, and a labor/union representative to investigate and resolve grievances. Prepares statistical reports, using records of actions taken concerning grievances, arbitration and mediation cases, and related labor relations activities to identify problem areas. Monitors implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions to ensure compliance with terms of labor contract. Furnishes information, such as reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, prevailing union and management practices, wage and salary surveys, and employee benefits programs, for use in review of current contract provisions and proposed changes. May represent management in labor contract negotiations.

Labor Relations Supervisor

Supervises labor relations program of establishment. Analyzes text of collective bargaining agreement and develops interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contract, to counsel management in development and application of labor relations policies and practices according to policy formulated. Represents management in investigating, answering, and settling grievances by arranging and scheduling grievance meeting between grieving workers and supervisory and managerial personnel. Typically reports to manager level and supervises professional level staff.: Prepares statistical reports of types and frequency of actions taken concerning grievances, arbitration, mediation, and related labor relations activities in order to identify problem areas. Verifies adherence to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions. Represents management in periodic labor contract negotiations or serves as informational resource for such matters as provisions of current contract and significance of proposed changes and by furnishing reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, prevailing union and management practices, wage and salary surveys, and employee benefits programs.

Labor Relations Specialist

Assists management in administration of labor relations policies, and serves as information resource for such matters. Reviews collective bargaining agreements, and participates in contract negotiations. Advises management in investigating, answering, and settling grievances. Verifies adherence to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day application of the Fair Labor Standards Act, Labor Management Relations Act, and other Federal and State legislations. Furnishes reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, prevailing union and management practices, wage and salary surveys, and employee benefits programs. May represent the organization in dealings with Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board.

Appraises automobile or other vehicle damage to determine cost of repair for insurance claim settlement. Examines damaged vehicle to determine extent of structural, body, mechanical, electrical, or interior damage. Estimates cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each item of damage, using standard automotive labor and parts cost and knowledge of automotive repair. : Determines salvage value on total-loss vehicle. Evaluates practicality of repair as opposed to payment of market value of vehicle before accident. Prepares insurance forms to indicate repair-cost estimates and recommendations. Reviews repair-cost estimates with automobile repair shop to secure agreement on cost of repairs. Occasionally arranges to have damage appraised by another appraiser to resolve disagreement with repair shop on repair cost. May secure agreement with automobile repair shop on cost of repair.
