Physician Practices Executive

Directs and oversees the physician practices operations. Creates and executes strategic plans and provides business development around physician services in particular. Assesses the various physician practices and designs and implements programs to increase revenue and improve and enhance physician services overall. Monitors and manages compliance issues and budget variances. Oversees a large staff, including Medical Secretaries, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, Office Managers, and others.: Completes the annual operating and capital budgets with the Executive Director and the Budget Manager. Formulates long-term strategic plans and business development programs for operational needs. Organizes, directs and controls the operations of an integrated physician/hospital network that provides contracting opportunities for managed care payers.: Organizes, directs and controls the entire provider network function including network development, contracting, credentialing, provider relations, and provider services. Establishes physician and hospital recruitment priorities, determines compensation methodologies and negotiates contracts. Ensures a comprehensive, cost-effective, and accessible provider network. Negotiates, administers, extends, terminates, and renegotiates contracts. Formulates and coordinates proposals. Coordinates activities of workers engaged in formulating bid proposals. Evaluates or monitors health outcome and contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations. Physician Recruitment Director

Responsible for developing and implementing an integrated network of affiliated Physicians for the organization. Establishes Physician recruitment priorities, determines compensation methodologies, and negotiates Physician contracts. Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a health related field and five years of experience in health care.: Identifies, develops, and maintains recruitment sources. Maintains current knowledge of national and regional compensation trends for various Physician specialties. Develops staffing plans and projections. Develops and maintains a network of relationships with leaders involved in the integrated network of Physicians. Hires, develops, and motivates Physician Recruiters. Develops, monitors, and maintains the departmental budget.

Hospitalist

Provides direct patient care and manages medical conditions of non-surgical hospitalized patients from admission to discharge. Provides assessment and treatment of patients by working closely with medical assistants, nurses, physicians, and others involved with in-patient care. Requires licensure as a Medical Doctor in internal medicine. Specialized training may be required.: Provides inpatient and outpatient consultation in internal medicine and participates in outpatient clinics. Provides prompt and professional contact and medical assessment of patients. Attends staff and department meetings and participates in applicable quality improvement programs. Prescribes medication and recommends dietary and activity program as indicated by diagnosis.

Head of Physician Relations

Directs, implements and manages public relations programs to ensure maintenance of effective relationships with physicians within the community.: Directs and oversees programs designed to foster positive relations between physicians and the hospital or healthcare system. Actively promotes the organization among members of the medical community to establish partnerships and affiliations. Works with hospital leadership to establish short- and long-term strategic objectives that will achieve profits, growth, or other goals of the organization. Identifies strategic objectives for physician relations and communicates those objectives to subordinate management and staff. Uses knowledge of hospital/physician practice industry trends and related strategies to enhance the competitive position of the Hospital or healthcare system and its affiliated physician practices. Leverages positive change to enhance physician recruitment and retention. Develops strong, close working relationships with key physician stakeholders to positively influence stakeholders toward positive change in light of strategic imperatives. Develops strategic plans, market assessment, facility/site planning to support the Hospital or healthcare system in its strategy for continued expansion of primary care and other key specialties within the patient service area. This position may require experience in physician contracting, reimbursement and incentive models to promote goal congruence among physicians and other key stakeholders as well as physician satisfaction. Achieves desired results through the use of budgets, proper contracts, and efficient decision making. This position typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and at least 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Occupational Medicine Physician

Specializes in the treatment of work-related diseases and injuries that occurred at work.: Develops and implements an occupational health program at a hospital or clinic setting or within established clinical groups. Examines patient and develops a patient care plan based on evaluation. Reviews reports of patient's general physical condition, reactions to medications, and medical history. Conducts physical examinations, program design, health promotion, epidemiologic studies, and hazard consultation. Provides treatment of injuries and communication of the return-to-work status to the client industry. Services may expand to the full range of occupational and environmental health services. This position requires a licensed Medical Doctor in internal medicine with specialized training in occupational medicine. May serve as a consultant to industry.

Nuclear Medicine Physician

Uses radioactive materials to diagnose and treat disease.: Nuclear medicine differs from radiography in that studies the physiologic and metabolic processes of the body. Performs diagnostic studies of blood and urine, including radioimmunoassay, volume and dilution studies. Interviews and examines patients and records supplementary data. Interprets images and data and collaborates with medical and/or dental staff regarding the diagnoses of cases. Monitors quality control of radionuclide preparation, administration and disposition to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Provides instruction to Nuclear Medicine Technologists regarding desired dosages, techniques, positions and projections. Serves as a consultant in the diagnostic and therapeutic use of radioactive pharmaceuticals. This position requires a Medical Doctor with completion of a residency program in nuclear medicine. May participate in the delivery of graduate medical education in nuclear medicine.

Critical Care Physician

Diagnoses and treats all aspects of acute and emergency care for the critically ill or injured patient.: Examines patient to determine medical problem, using physical findings, diagnostic images, laboratory test results, and patient's statements as diagnostic aids. Refers patient to surgeon or other specialist when need for further medical assistance is indicated. Provides direct clinical services for critically ill patients with multi-organ trauma or multi-system failure, according to established protocols. Obtains patient health histories and completes physical examinations. Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient’s family, staff, and healthcare learners. Performs therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status. Documents patient preparation and response to procedure(s). Formulates and implements treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s). Documents all prescriptions in patient’s medical record. Assesses patient for change in status and institutes appropriate interventions. Initiates necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient. This position requires a licensed Medical Doctor with specialized training in critical care.

Orthopedic Sports Medicine Physician

Specializes in the non-operative medical treatment of musculoskeletal sports conditions but, as an Orthopedist, also provides operative treatment of these conditions.: Promotes lifelong fitness and wellness and encourages prevention of illness and injury. Provides care for patients with musculoskeletal and muscular problems. Examines patient to identify prognosis and plan of treatment. Verifies medical necessity of surgery, estimates possible risk to patient, and determines best operational procedure. Utilizes surgical, medical and physical methodologies to treat bone, muscle, and joint problems. Performs surgery, such as arthroscopy or joint replacement, to correct deformities, repair injuries, and improve function in patient. Reviews reports of patient's general physical condition, reactions to medications, and medical history. Examines instruments, equipment and surgical setup to ensure that antiseptic and aseptic methods have been followed. Performs operations, using variety of surgical instruments and employing established surgical techniques appropriate for specific procedures. This position requires a licensed Medical Doctor with completion of an orthopedic residency and completion of a one year fellowship in a sub-specialty to focus on sports medicine.

Physician

Diagnoses and treats variety of diseases and injuries in general practice. Conducts fitness physical examinations. Examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition.: Attends to patients in clinic or hospital, and reexamines disability cases periodically to verify progress. Oversees maintenance of case histories, health examination reports, and other medical records. Formulates and administers health programs. Inspects and makes recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards. Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. Performs minor surgery. May make house and emergency calls to attend to patients unable to visit office or clinic. May conduct physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.
