Provides direct clinical services for psychiatric patients according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the supervising physician. Functions independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations. Obtains patient health histories and completes examinations. Orders, performs and interprets lab and diagnostic imaging studies. Diagnoses and treats acute health problems. Provides health maintenance, screenings and referrals. Provides counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals. Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed. Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient’s family, or staff. Performs approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status. Adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Prescribes, manages, and supervises medication treatment for psychiatric conditions. Provides quality assurance review. Maintains established policies and procedures, safety, and infection control standards. This position typically requires a Master’s degree in nursing, licensure as a Registered Nurse, and graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Post Master’s advanced training and certification in psychiatry is also required. May serve in a teaching capacity or may supervise clinical and support staff in patient care activities. May diagnose, manage treatment and monitor acute or chronic conditions.

Advanced Professional Nurse Practitioner

Under indirect supervision of a physician, provides for the health care needs of patients through advanced assessment, identification of health states including abnormal conditions, diagnosing, treatment and evaluation.: An Advanced Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) who has completed a nurse practitioner educational program and holds national certification as a nurse practitioner from a Board approved certifying body. Functions independently to perform individual assessments, diagnostic functions, specialized risk assessments, and make critical decisions regarding a wide variety of health situations, including high risk and crisis situations. Diagnoses and treats acute health problems such as infections and injuries. Provides health maintenance, screenings and immunizations as well as continuity of care and referrals. Provides preventative health care services and counseling to promote healthy lifestyles and arranges consultations and referrals. Collaborates with physicians and other health care professionals as needed. Documents examination results, noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings and ensures accuracy of notes on patient medical records. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient’s family, or staff. Post Master’s advanced training and certification in a specialty such as Acute Care, Gerontology, Neonatal, Pediatric, Family, Women’s Health or Neuro Oncology is also required. May diagnose, manage treatment and monitor acute or chronic conditions. May serve in a teaching capacity or may supervise clinical and support staff in patient care activities.

Physical Integration Practitioner

Conducts physical integration program to improve client's muscular function and flexibility: determines client's medical history regarding accidents, operations, or chronic health complaints to plan objectives of program, using questionnaire. Photographs client to obtain different views of client's posture to facilitate treatment, using camera. Instructs client to demonstrate arm and leg movement and flexion of spine to evaluate client against established program norms. Determines program treatment procedures and discusses goals of program with client. Applies skin lubricant to section of body specified for treatment and massages muscles to release subclinical adhesions either manually or using hand held tool, utilizing knowledge of anatomy. Demonstrates and directs client's participation in specific exercises designed to fatigue desired muscle groups and release tension. Observes client's progress during program through such factors as increased joint movement, improved posture, or coordination. Records client's treatment, response, and progress.

Medical Family Practitioner

Provides comprehensive medical services for members of family, regardless of age or sex, on a continuing basis. Examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment. Elicits and records information about patient's medical history. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient.: Administers or prescribes treatments and medications. Promotes health by advising patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease. Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases. Provides prenatal care to pregnant women, delivers babies, and provides postnatal care to mothers and infants. Performs surgical procedures commensurate with surgical competency. Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well-being.

Medical General Practitioner

Diagnoses and treats variety of diseases and injuries in general practice. Conducts fitness physical examinations. Examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment. Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnoses condition.: Attends to patients in clinic or hospital, and reexamines disability cases periodically to verify progress. Administers or prescribes treatments and drugs. Inoculates and vaccinates patients to immunize patients from communicable diseases. Inspects and makes recommendations regarding sanitation and elimination of health hazards. Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. Performs minor surgery. May make house and emergency calls to attend to patients unable to visit office or clinic. May conduct physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverage.

Neonatal Nurse Practitioner

Under indirect supervision, provides primary care, assessment, and evaluation to critically and/or chronically ill newborn infants.: Provides direct in-house assessment, evaluation, and primary patient care to critically or chronically ill infants within a specified patient care facility nursery. Provides direct patient management in collaboration with Neonatologists and participates in daily rounds, patient assessment, and care plan development. Provides direct critical patient care during the air and/or ground transport of critically ill infants to the patient care facility from urban and rural hospitals/referral centers. Performs various procedures including intubation, insertion of umbilical lines, arterial sticks, lumber punctures, chest tubes, and venipuncture. Attends high-risk deliveries requiring expertise in delivery room resuscitation and stabilization and counsels families prior to delivery regarding anticipated events. Maintains established policies and procedures, safety, and infection control standards. This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in nursing and graduation from an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. May provide care for critically ill newborns during air and ground transport from urban and rural hospitals. May serve in a teaching capacity or may supervise clinical and support staff in patient care activities.

Observes and evaluates patient, and records condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Evaluates the outcome of patient care. Arranges referrals, consultations, therapeutic services, and confers with other specialist on course of care and treatment. Where state law permits, may engage in independent practice. May direct nursing care through nursing staff. May aid physician during treatments and examination of patients. May refer patients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
