Home Health Aide

Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care in caring for elderly, convalescent, or disabled people in patient's home.: Changes bed linens, washes and irons patient's laundry, and cleans patient's quarters. Purchases, prepares, and serves food for patient and other members of family, following special prescribed diets. Assists patients into and out of bed, automobile, or wheelchair, to lavatory, and up and down stairs. Assists patient to dress, bathe, and groom self. Massages patient and applies preparations and treatments, such as liniment or alcohol rubs and heat-lamp stimulation. Administers prescribed oral medications under written direction of physician or as directed by home care nurse. Accompanies ambulatory patients outside home, serving as guide, companion, and aide. Entertains patient, reads aloud, and plays cards or other games with patient. Performs variety of miscellaneous duties as requested, such as obtaining household supplies and running errands. May maintain records of services performed and of apparent condition of patient. May visit several households to provide daily health care to patients.

Home Economist

Organizes and conducts consumer education service or research program for equipment, food, textile, or utility company, utilizing principles of home economics. Advises homemakers in selection and utilization of household equipment, food, and clothing, and interprets homemakers' needs to manufacturers of household products. : Writes advertising copy and articles of interest to homemakers, tests recipes, equipment, and new household products, conducts radio and television homemakers' programs, and performs other public relations and promotion work for business firms, newspapers, magazines, and radio and television stations. Advises individuals and families on home management practices, such as budget planning, meal preparation, and energy conservation. Teaches improved homemaking practices to homemakers and youths through educational programs, demonstrations, discussions, and home visits. May engage in research in government, private industry, and colleges and universities to explore family relations or child development, develop new products for home, discover facts on food nutrition, and test serviceability of new materials. May specialize in specific area of home economics and be designated according to specialization.

Home Health Head

Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the delivery of home health services. Develops standards and procedures for providing home health care and for evaluating service. Scope of services include, but are not limited to, registered nurses, license practical nurses, nurses' aides, companions, and housekeeping services. Home Care Team Leader

Coordinates services provided to home care patients including care assessment, treatment, and training. Coordinates case load distribution for a multidisciplinary team to ensure that quality home care services are delivered. Housekeeping CCRC or Nursing Home Director

Directs institutional housekeeping programs within a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) or nursing home facility to ensure consistent quality and service in cleaning functions.: Manages and coordinates housekeeping functions for a nursing home, CCRC, long-term care facility or other patient care facility to ensure consistent and quality cleaning services to support infection control standards and meet regulatory standards. Plans schedules and programs to provide adequate staffing, supplies and equipment for the performance of duties. Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff, and plans work schedules to ensure adequate service. Develops and monitors quality control standards, performs inspections and provides technical guidance and direction to staff involved in cleaning activities. Ensures that adequate precautions are taken for controlling cross infections. Evaluates and make recommendations concerning cleaning products and equipment. Ensures that a sufficient inventory of supplies and equipment are ordered and maintained. Determines fiscal requirements and prepares and monitors the department budget. Maintains records and prepares periodic reports and analyses showing progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations. Periodically inventories supplies and equipment and evaluates product selection and contract services. Organizes and directs departmental training programs, resolves personnel problems, hires new employees, and evaluates employee performance and working relationships. Coordinates activities with those of other departments. Responds to complaints regarding the quality of housekeeping services. This position typically requires a minimum of five years of experience in the management of housekeeping or environmental services within a patient care facility.

Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor CCRC or Nursing Home

Supervises work activities of cleaning and laundry personnel in a continuing care facility. Supervises a variety of activities in housekeeping and laundry to keep the facility clean and sanitary and provides a sufficient supply of linens. : Manages laundry operations to provide residents with laundered clothing. Regulates work flow, assigns duties to workers, and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness. Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies. Issues supplies and equipment to workers. Hires, trains, and motivates qualified workers for housekeeping and laundry departments.
