Care for mentally impaired or emotionally disturbed individuals, following physician instructions and hospital procedures. Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being and report to medical staff. May participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs, help with personal hygiene, and administer oral medications and hypodermic injections.

Regional Director Behavioral Health

Responsible for administration, planning and management of a regional behavioral health program for the treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders.: Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for behavioral health services and programs for a specific region to ensure quality care to patients. Assists in the design, planning, promotion, execution and evaluation of behavioral health programs. Prepares budget and develop procedures for monitoring and justifying expenditures. Processes referrals, appointments, admission calls and program plans for patients. Provides case management services to patients and recommends appropriate treatment plan. Develops program objectives, identifies discrepancies, and implements recommendations. Coordinates work schedules for support staff. Serves as facilitator to discuss problems, initiate patient groups and answer patient questions. Maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. Develops, maintains and implements policies and procedures. Confers and cooperates with management personnel in formulating administrative and operational policies and procedures. Reviews and analyzes expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine requirements for behavioral health services. Approves requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies. This position typically requires a Master's degree or PhD and seven years of experience in the field or in a related area. Certification may also be required.

Home Health Head

Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the delivery of home health services. Develops standards and procedures for providing home health care and for evaluating service. Scope of services include, but are not limited to, registered nurses, license practical nurses, nurses' aides, companions, and housekeeping services. Requires RN license.: Provides orientation, teaching, and guidance to staff to improve quality and quantity of service. Evaluates performance of personnel, and interprets home health care and nursing standards to staff, advisory boards, nursing committees, and community groups. Recommends duty assignment of personnel and coordinates services with other health and social agencies to render program more effective. Reviews, evaluates, and interprets nursing records, vital statistics, and other data affecting home health service in order to assess community needs and to plan and implement programs to meet these needs. Cooperates with families, community agencies, and medical personnel to arrange for convalescent and rehabilitative care of sick or injured people. Prepares budget and plans and participates in field research related to home health care services. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Nurse Supervisor of Occupational Health

Directs employee health services of industrial organization. Interprets plant and departmental health policies and regulations to nursing staff and employees. Coordinates activities of personnel rendering assistance to physician and nursing care to employees. Trains nursing staff in techniques of industrial nursing. Requires RN license.: Participates in planning and executing health information programs designed to improve efficiency and reduce absentee and accident rates. Assists workers in securing medical or other aid. Establishes work schedules for nursing staff and requisitions supplies. May conduct classes in first aid and home nursing for employees. May recommend appointment of nursing personnel.

Critical Care Physician

Diagnoses and treats all aspects of acute and emergency care for the critically ill or injured patient.: Examines patient to determine medical problem, using physical findings, diagnostic images, laboratory test results, and patient's statements as diagnostic aids. Refers patient to surgeon or other specialist when need for further medical assistance is indicated. Provides direct clinical services for critically ill patients with multi-organ trauma or multi-system failure, according to established protocols. Obtains patient health histories and completes physical examinations. Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient’s family, staff, and healthcare learners. Performs therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon patient’s clinical status. Documents patient preparation and response to procedure(s). Formulates and implements treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and/or attending back-up physician(s). Documents all prescriptions in patient’s medical record. Assesses patient for change in status and institutes appropriate interventions. Initiates necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patient. This position requires a licensed Medical Doctor with specialized training in critical care.

Home Care Team Leader

Coordinates services provided to home care patients including care assessment, treatment, and training. Coordinates case load distribution for a multidisciplinary team to ensure that quality home care services are delivered. Typically requires Registered Nurse licensure with four years of experience in a clinical setting.: Develops schedules and coordinates referrals to appropriate team members considering geographic location, skill levels of staff, and caseload. Acts as a clinical resource for the home care team. Assists in the evaluation of all home care team staff for conformity to organization policies and procedures, regulations, and professional standards. Makes regular visits to home care patients to audit level of care and make appropriate changes to the care plan.

Resident Care Coordinator RN

Coordinates the work of all disciplines involved in completing Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments and resident care plans according to regulatory requirements and guidelines. Provides assistance to the Nursing Director by providing in-service to staff, assessing competencies, and evaluating nursing staff. Plans, supervises, and evaluates the delivery of resident care and activities. Provides nursing care and ensures that nursing procedures are followed. Reviews resident care plans and conducts interdisciplinary care plan conferences. Typically requires completion of a nursing program at an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse and a minimum of three years of nursing experience in a long-term care setting working with MDS. A valid nursing license is required.: Ensures that medical supplies and equipment are maintained on each unit. Oversees documentation to comply with Medicare or state reimbursement rules. Monitors medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that they are properly administered. Interprets resident charts to accurately complete sections of the MDS. Performs quality improvement audits and assists in the implementation of quality assurance measures. Reviews resident charts for contradictions in information and researches any contradictions to determine what is valid. Reviews and investigates complaints and incident reports.

Public Health Microbiologist

Conducts experiments to detect presence of harmful or pathogenic bacteria in water, food supply, or general environment of community and to control or eliminate sources of possible pollution or contagion: makes periodic laboratory counts of bacteria in water supply. Analyzes samples of sewage for harmful micro-organisms and for rate of sludge purification by aerobic bacteria. Examines milk, shellfish, and other food items for micro-organisms constituting menace to public health. Cooperates with hospitals and clinical laboratories in identifying micro-organisms taken from diseased persons to determine presence of bacteria causing contagious or epidemic diseases. May inoculate members of community against contagious diseases.

Pastoral Care Head

Directs and develops the delivery of pastoral services to patients, family, and staff at a hospital or other health-care facility. Coordinates pastoral activities with clergy of other faiths. Plans and coordinates religious services for the facility. Typically this position requires a four-year degree plus related experience.: Ensures that the pastoral care meets the goals, objectives, and philosophies of the department and facility management. May serve as chaplain and perform duties such as counseling and visiting patients and families.

Health Data Analyst

Develops and maintains clinical software applications. Designs, produces, and analyzes health data reports. Typically requires a college degree and two years of experience with clinical computer information systems.: Analyzes, develops, and maintains computer applications, procedures, and other systems that satisfy the needs of the clinical user departments. Analyzes and develops necessary design work, including testing and documentation. Reviews, evaluates, and implements requests from clinical user departments. Performs data validation studies. Designs, produces, and analyzes health data reports. Interprets changes in data trends and serves as the impetus for further investigation. Cross-trains other analysts. Oversees computer applications to ensure proper use and security. Analyzes problems, determines causes, and initiates corrective action. Develops clear and concise documentation and instruction manuals. Provides in-service training and other forms of continuing education of software and hardware to users. Coordinates and installs new software applications with user departments. Maintains a high level of interaction with all clinical areas to continually enhance and improve patient care.
