Warehouse Manager

Manages and controls storage and distribution activities of the company to ensure maximum utilization of facilities. Administers operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current. Typically reports to Warehouse Director and may have supervisors reporting to this position.: Ensures products, parts, or supplies are shipped, distributed, or received in an efficient manner. Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment and prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment. Works with director in ensuring coordination of warehouse activities such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing departments. Takes precautions to secure warehouse contents against loss. Evaluates inventory on hand. Prepares or reviews distribution documents. Manages salvage of damaged or used material. Screens, hires, trains staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action for warehouse personnel. May participate in planning personnel-safety and plant-protection activities.

Supervisor Warehouse

Supervises and coordinates daily activities of workers engaged in materials movement or handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, stacking, order filling, shipping, and maintaining stock in a storeroom or warehouse. Reviews shipping or receiving orders and requests for movement of materials and products, prepares work schedules, gives work assignments to subordinates. This position typically reports to the Warehouse Manager and is the first level of supervision.: Jobs supervised include storing items in bins, on floors, or on shelves in storeroom or warehouse for removal, marking or tagging articles for identification purposes, maintaining records of inventory, filling orders, issuing materials to office or production areas, and submitting requisitions for replacement stock. Assists with design and implementation of work methods and operational procedures for activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current. Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment, prepares work order for repairs, and requisitions for replacement of equipment. Reviews work processes, recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product or service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Supervises salvage of damaged or used material. Keeps accurate records, and prepares and submits required paperwork. Screens and provides input on hiring warehouse personnel. May train, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.

Warehouse Lead

Coordinates and verifies order shipments and maintains daily operations within the shipping office. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, preparing items for receipt, shipment, and storage.: Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies appropriate personnel for repair. Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. Participates in inventory record accuracy program. Maintains area in accordance with all internal and external regulatory guidelines, i.e., OSHA, FDA, PDA, DOT, etc. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Prepares parcels for mailing. Loads and unloads trailers of palletized and non-palletized products. Utilizes manual and automated material handling equipment. Assists with cycle count inventory of all merchandise by recording counts on cycle count sheets and adjusting inventory in system accordingly. Delivers to stores and other warehouses as needed. Orders materials and supplies as needed. May train newly assigned personnel.

Warehouse Materials Handler

Performs a variety of duties in loading, unloading, and moving materials within warehouse.: Reads work order or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, clawhammer, or other hand tools. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools. Conveys materials to or from storage or worksites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, wheelbarrow, or other device. Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers. Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher. Clamps sections of portable conveyor together or places conveyor sections on blocks or boxes to facilitate movement of materials or products. Assembles crates to contain products, such as machines or vehicles, using hand tools and precut lumber. Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers, such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels. May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

Warehouse Laborer

Loads and unloads materials in warehouse.: Reads work order, shipping order, or follows verbal instructions. Loads and unloads materials into or from vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, wheelbarrow, or other device. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers. Maintains and compiles records as required. May occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

Warehouse Worker

Performs a combination of tasks to receive, store, and distribute material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments.: Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas by hand, hand truck, or electric hand truck. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerated rooms. Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line. Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department. Marks materials with identifying information, using stencil, crayon, or other marking device. Opens bales, crates, and other containers, using hand tools. Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards. Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers. May use computer to enter records. May compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications. May drive vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment. May complete requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments. May prepare parcels for mailing. May maintain inventory records. May restock aircraft commissary supplies, such as linens, glasses, emergency kits, and beverages.

Associate General Counsel
