Ambulatory Surgery Director

Directs, administers, and coordinates activities related to administrative and patient care functions of an ambulatory surgery center.: Directs, administers, and coordinates nursing staff activities within the ambulatory surgery center to include pre-op, operating room, recovery room, and recovery care as well as laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy and other services to ensure that appropriate administrative and clinical practices and services are provided. Establishes and maintains liaison between nursing staff and medical and administrative staffs to ensure effective coordination of efforts for optimal patient care. Directs the evaluation and coordination of educational and professional growth activities such as nursing learning experience, continuing education, and other programs to ensure consistency with established objectives. Provides training on new procedures, equipment, and regulatory requirements. Responsible for planning, development and implementation of effective clinical operations, including development of strategic plans, work processes, staffing plans, operating budgets, resource allocation and logistical planning to deliver effective patient care and meet profit contribution targets. Manages and coordinates subordinate staff. Establishes schedules, work assignments and allocation of manpower, space and equipment to ensure effective patient care. Works with ambulatory surgery center physicians to maintain and improve support services. Coordinates activities of various units to provide designated services with minimum delay and optimum efficiency and accuracy. Conducts staff meetings for dissemination of pertinent information. Trains and evaluates performance of supervisory personnel and reviews performance reports prepared on staff. Develops and manages the department budget. Directs the compilation and preparation of operational and financial reports identifying progress, adverse trends and outcomes. Reviews ambulatory surgery facility fees and evaluates cost of procedures. Recommends fiscal requirements for the ambulatory surgery center. Ensures that appropriate levels of supplies and materials are available. This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing plus five years of clinical nursing experience in an operating room or ambulatory surgery center.

Outpatient Surgery Center Head

Directs, administers, and coordinates activities and operations of a major comprehensive ambulatory care or outpatient surgery center(s) to provide professional quality of care.: Organizes and develops short- and long-term planning programs to ascertain facility requirements. Administers fiscal operations such as budget planning and establishing rates for services. Establishes and maintains a clean and safe environment within the operating room suite and patient areas. Monitors care of the operating room suite and equipment to ensure that sterile techniques are used, equipment functions properly, and items are properly positioned. Develops operating schedules for the operating room suite and ensures proper levels of staffing of professional personnel during surgical procedures and post-anesthesia recovery. Monitors the preparation of patients for surgery and immediate post-operative care. Assists in establishing policies and procedures related to pre-operative, operative, and post-operative nursing functions. Oversees ordering of drugs, materials, supplies, solutions, and equipment needed for successful functioning. Ensures timeliness of surgical procedures by providing and controlling material, staffing, supplies, and equipment needed for procedures. Organizes and develops short- and long-term planning programs to ascertain requirements. Analyzes, implements programs, and evaluates the financial, operational and delivery aspects of outpatient surgery programs. Ensures compliance with all regulations and license requirements. Plans and manages capital needs for the surgery center. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. This position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a field of health and a minimum of five years of related experience. This position is not a Medical Doctor.

Surgery Scheduler

Schedules patients for surgery and advises patients of surgical and financial preoperative requirements. Coordinates and schedules appointments for surgeries for physicians at the clinic, ambulatory surgery center, or hospital. Typically requires two years of experience in a medical setting with knowledge of medical terminology. : Provides patient with generic preoperative information sheets and advises patients of preoperative surgical and financial requirements. Coordinates arrangements for surgical assistants, special equipment, and surgical materials. Ensures that Physicians' orders are received. Verifies insurance and collects payments. Obtains authorization for surgery from patient's insurance company. May schedule diagnostic therapy and other treatments.

Human Resources Scheduler

Compiles daily and weekly personnel assignment schedules. Studies schedules and staffing requests to ascertain personnel requirements. Studies worker availability and worker skill sets. Matches worker skill sets with staffing requests.: Determines and records work assignments. Assignment may require consideration of availability, duration of assignment, union contracts, skill sets, seniority, job classification, shift and preferences. Compiles work schedule. Adjusts schedules to meet emergencies caused by extended leave or increased manpower demands. May compile annual seniority lists. May approve leave requests.

IT Processing Scheduler

Develops processing schedule using job scheduling software and monitors execution of schedule. Reviews completed schedule to detect conflicts and ensure availability of memory and other computer resources. Reviews computer processing job requests received from programmers and computer users and determines processing requirements, such as computer time and memory required, and priority. : Talks with programmers and users to resolve conflicts in schedule. Enters commands to ensure that new processing jobs do not hinder computer operation, following programmers' specifications. Monitors computer terminal display to detect problem and to ensure that data entered is correct and that jobs will run as scheduled. Corrects problem, such as failure of program to run or program running incorrect sequence. May establish guidelines for scheduling work. May train other workers in use of scheduling software.

Contacts garage to verify availability of facilities. Notifies parking garage workers to deliver specified vehicles. Maintains file of requests for services.

Gas Scheduler

Coordinates flow of natural gas throughout distribution system of public utility or pipeline to ensure volume and pressure of gas required for consumers demands: monitors telemetering panelboard to determine gas pressure and volume, and records instrument readings in log. Reviews correlating data, such as gas quality, pressure and temperature with variables affecting consumer demand, such as weather conditions and time of day to forecast load adjustments. Adjusts controls to regulate gas flow and pressure through system or telephones gas-compressor operator to increase or decrease pressure in pipelines according to forecast. Directs gas-pumping-station operator to pump gas from holding station into distribution system and return according to supply and demand. Informs station personnel to regulate flow of gas from wells into system to maintain specified pressure and volume in pipelines. Records data, such as gas pressure and volume from outlying stations. Observes colorimeter to detect deviations in mixture of natural gas with manufactured gas according to specified btu rating. Notifies mixing station personnel when deviations occur. May discontinue gas service to specified areas when emergencies or gas shortages exist.

Scheduler Vehicle Maintenance
