Apply theory and principles of environmental engineering to modify, test, and operate equipment and devices used in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental pollution, including waste treatment and site remediation. Environmental Planner

Collaborates with technical experts on a variety of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and specific State environmental quality acts, policies, or practices-related documents for organizations involved in urban in-fill, transit oriented development, transportation and public works, water resources, power projects, etc., that will improve the quality of life in a specific state or area. Prepares and manages environmental documents. Assumes responsibility for due diligence studies, opportunities and constraint analysis and supporting technical studies, public outreach and presentations to public entities, as well as project organization and submittals and coordination with sub consultants. Works out compliance and permitting and ensures environmental compliance and safety.: Works on a full range of environmental planning services, including resource assessments and management plans, environmental impact statements, environmental assessments, categorical exclusions, and environmental overviews. Scopes critical issues and at-risk resources, clearly defines a project's purpose and need, identifies and evaluates a feasible range of alternatives, discloses potential impacts, provides adequate and reasonable mitigation measures, and participates with the public in decision-making processes. Prepares all levels of NEPA studies, and natural, social, and cultural resource planning documents. Displays strong working relationships with Federal, State, tribal, and local resource and regulatory agencies.

Environmental Chemist

Environmental Manager

Environmental Analyst

Conducts research to identify and abate or eliminate sources of pollutants that affect people, wildlife, and their environments. Analyzes and reports measurements and observations of air, water, soil, and other sources to make recommendations on how best to clean and preserve the environment. Designs and monitors waste disposal sites, preserves water supplies, and reclaims contaminated land and water. Usual requirement is minimum of a bachelor's degree in the field of scientific and/or engineering disciplines. Excludes paraprofessional positions.: Plans and conducts environmental research studies to develop methods or theories of abating or controlling sources of environmental pollutants, utilizing knowledge of principles and concepts of various scientific and engineering disciplines. Requires advanced study in the field of research in environmental sciences. Determines data collection methods to be employed in research projects and surveys. Plans and develops research models, using knowledge of mathematical, statistical, and physical science concepts and approaches. Identifies and analyzes sources of pollution to determine their effects. Collects and synthesizes data derived from pollution emission measurements, atmospheric monitoring, meteorological and mineralogical information, and soil or water samples. Prepares graphs, charts, and statistical models from synthesized data, using knowledge of mathematical, statistical, and engineering analysis techniques. Analyzes data to assess pollution problems, establishes standards, and develops approaches for control of pollution.

Environmental Director

Directs and oversees activities related to environmental control including staffing, scheduling, coordinating, and planning. Develops and maintains new and current programs and policies to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local environmental and safety and health regulations and files required reports. Identifies all current and potential environmental risks and takes appropriate measures to eliminate or control them. Directs planning and establishing of department schedules and follows up performance against estimates. Typically reports to the Top Environmental Officer and supervises manager level employees.: Responsible for business development, quality improvement, human resources management, and recruiting and training of department staff. Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary. Oversees preparation and control of departmental annual budget. May represent company in dealings with governmental officials enforcing environmental and safety regulations.
