Fleet Manager

Manages and coordinates operation and maintenance activities of fleet/automotive equipment department and storage and repair facilities of an establishment. Coordinates inspection of and evaluates automobiles and equipment and schedules needed repair or service work. Typically reports to a director and may have supervisors reporting to this position.: Procures State-required certificates of title and arranges for registrations and State inspections. Obtains vehicle and equipment replacement costs, and prepares specifications for purchase of new vehicles and equipment. Prepares and controls department budget, directs recording of expenses, and analyzes purchase and repair costs to control expenditures. Recommends procedures to improve efficiency. Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations. May plan and direct safety campaigns. May arrange for insurance coverage on vehicles. May negotiate with vendors to purchase automobiles, equipment, materials, and supplies. May assign trucks and passenger cars for use.

Fleet Supervisor

Supervises activities of fleet of vehicles required for the operations of an organization. Recommends vehicles for transfer or replacement and inspects new vehicles. Recommends changes, purchases, and divestitures of equipment. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Assigns, schedules, and coordinates activities of personnel. Keeps records of work in process and completed along with employee time and materials. Issues purchase requisitions for materials and parts necessary to perform work. Reviews department operations and recommends changes for improvement to manager. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy and practices. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Performs related work as required.

Supervisor Telephone Operators

Supervises and coordinates activities of telephone operators performing activities such as switchboard operation, helping customers make telephone calls, local directory assistance, long distance directory assistance, telephone answering and message service, and/or telephone call completion. A combination of over one year of directly related training and/or experience is typically required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job.: Prepares work schedules, trains new employees, and keeps attendance records. Notifies equipment vendor's service department of equipment operational difficulties. May compile organization's phone directory, arrange for distribution to designated personnel, and keep record of directories distributed. Performs other supervisory duties. May relieve operators.

Restaurant Owner

Owns and manages a restaurant, cafeteria, independent fast food franchise, wholesale-prepared food establishment, or food services operation of a hotel, institutional food facility, or similar establishment. Formulates administrative and operational policies and procedures. Directs and coordinates, often through subordinate managerial personnel, activities of operations to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.: Participates in daily and seasonal menu development. Reviews and analyzes expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine requirements for food services. Projects sales and leads strategic planning. Approves requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies. Manages plans for construction , remodeling, or redesigning the restaurant, including storage, equipment, refrigeration, employee's area, plumbing, sanitizing, lighting, pest control, garbage areas, ventilation, etc. Directs and oversees preparation of, and cooking, serving, wrapping, or packing types of, food served or prepared by establishment, collecting of monies from in-house or take-out customers, or assembling food orders for wholesale customers. Manages activities of workers engaged in keeping business records, collecting and paying accounts, ordering or purchasing supplies, and delivery of foodstuffs to wholesale or retail customers. Enforces compliance of personnel with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations. Establishes and communicates safety guidelines and emergency procedures. Manages purchasing, receiving, storage, cooking, packaging, cleaning and sanitizing, equipment maintenance, etc., in order to ensure food safety and improve operational procedures. Recruits, hires, trains, and motivates staff. May negotiate contracts with equipment and materials suppliers.

Small Business Owner

Owns and manages the activities of a small business, including business planning, finance, marketing, human resources management, operations, and sales and services. Evaluates status of business, forms strategic alliances, and defines, implements, updates, and follows up on business plan.: Develops and implements budget, monitors accounting procedures, and uses cash flow statement. Conducts market research, and updates and implements action plan. Advertises products and/or services, produces and distributes promotional materials, participates in industry shows, and conducts public relations activities. Monitors administrative functions, implements policies and procedures, and maintains records system. Administers payroll and benefits program, monitors cash control procedures, and administers accounts receivable/payable procedures and petty cash/payout system. Works with financial institutions and researches and applies for funding. Ensures compliance with legal, licensing, and insurance requirements. Develops risk management plan, prepares for and responds to emergencies, and maintains facility and equipment. Purchases materials, products, and services from suppliers and establishes inventory and receiving procedures. Defines and negotiates contracts, develops proposals, and manages projects. Establishes pricing, displays and provides information about products, provides customer service, handles client concerns, and develops quotes. Sells and delivers products and contracted services. Manages human resources plan, including developing job descriptions and employment application and interview forms. Defines components of employee handbook, conducts orientation for new employees, plans training for staff, and encourages ongoing professional development. Manages employee performance by maintaining personnel files, planning and conducting staff meetings, supervising staff, motivating employees, and conducting performance appraisals. Solicits, screens, interviews, and hires applicants and terminates employees as needed.

Owner Operator

Operates an independently-owned truck, which may be light or heavy, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads.: Prepares receipts for load picked up. Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges. May maintain truck log, according to State and Federal regulations. May maintain telephone or radio contact with Supervisor to receive delivery instructions. May load and unload own truck. May inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. May position blocks and tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
