Aide Physical Therapy

Prepares patients for physical therapy treatments, assists Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant during administration of treatments, and provides routine treatments. Assists patients to dress, undress, and put on and remove supportive devices, such as braces, splints, and slings, before and after treatments. Secures patients into or onto therapy equipment.: Safeguards, motivates, and assists patients practicing exercises and functional activities under direction of professional staff. Provides routine treatments, such as hydrotherapy, hot and cold packs, and paraffin bath. Transports patients to and from treatment area. Cleans work area and equipment after treatment. May record treatment given and equipment used. May inventory and requisition supplies and equipment. May adjust fit of supportive devices for patients, as instructed. May be assigned to specific type of treatment or patient service.

Technician Respiratory Therapy

Assists personnel in the Respiratory Therapy Department. Assists in providing respiratory therapy as directed by Respiratory Therapist and prescribed by physician.: Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes equipment used in administration of respiratory therapy. Examines equipment to detect worn tubes, loose connections, or other indications of disrepair, and notifies supervisor of need for maintenance. Starts equipment and observes gauges measuring pressure, rate of flow, and continuity to test equipment, and notifies supervisor of malfunctions. Assists in preparation of inventory records. Delivers oxygen tanks and other equipment and supplies to specified hospital locations.

Respiratory Therapy Director

Plans, directs, and monitors operations, functions, and resources of the Respiratory Therapy Department to assure optimal and safe patient care in the delivery of respiratory care services. Directs and evaluates diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures. Typically requires a bachelor's degree, registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, and five years of experience in providing respiratory care.: Ensures compliance with regulatory and professional guidelines associated with the delivery of respiratory care services. Directs and monitors the allocation of staffing and technical support to assure compliance with safety standards and labor and productivity targets. Directs the development of educational programs and profession scope of practice. Hires, trains, evaluates, and motivates a qualified Respiratory Therapy staff. Determines fiscal requirements for the department and prepares expense and revenue budgets. Evaluates capital purchase requirements and justification. Analyzes operational reports to establish departmental progress and adverse trends. Develops professional standards and outcome measurements to assure sound clinical practice and adherence to regulatory agency standards. Serves as a liaison between medical staff and administration. Evaluates patient care plans. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet service levels. Prepares and monitors the departmental budget.

Physical Therapy Director

Directs the programs and staff of the Physical Therapy Department that treats disabled, injured, or diseased patients to improve or restore physical functioning, relieve pain, and prevent physical dysfunction. Assesses, plans, organizes, and participates in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy, a current license, and five years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist.: Establishes standards for therapy and patient participation. Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the physical therapy clinic service delivery system within assigned area. Monitors treatment and patient progress. Plans and develops staff in-service training and conducts orientation for new personnel. Plans and schedules work for assigned areas, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space, and facilities for performance of duties. Develops recommendations for appropriate care and coordinates implementation of those recommendations. Prepares reports and presents appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Hires, motivates, and develops a qualified physical therapy staff. Prepares and manages the departmental budget. Monitors resources utilized in the service delivery process and oversees procurement of required equipment and supplies.

Recreational Therapy Director

Plans, implements, and monitors recreational therapy programs for patients. Directs the programs and staff of the recreational therapy department. Typically requires an advanced degree in a related field and five years of recreational therapy experience. Certification may be required.: Establishes and implements guidelines for recreational therapy programs in areas of theater, games, and music. Determines the extent and nature of recreation therapy services needed, identifies methods and resources for implementing services, and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the recreational service delivery system. Monitors and evaluates service activities. Plans and develops staff in-service training and conducts orientation for new personnel. Plans and schedules work for the department, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space, and facilities for performance of duties. Prepares reports and presents appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Hires, manages, and motivates a qualified recreational therapy staff. Prepares and manages the departmental budget.

Director Occupational Therapy

Plans, directs, organizes, and coordinates subordinate staff and occupational therapy program in hospital, institution, or community setting to facilitate development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled. To carry out responsibilities at this level typically requires a four-year degree.: Plans program involving activities, such as manual arts and crafts; practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, and homemaking skills, and activities of daily living; and participation in sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients or disabled people develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities. Consults with other members of rehabilitation team to select activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of individual and to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities. Selects constructive activities suited to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, prepare individual for return to employment, assist in restoration of functions, and aid in adjustment to disability. Teaches individuals skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates individual's progress. Designs and constructs special equipment for individual and suggests adaptation of individual's work-living environment. Requisitions supplies and equipment. May conduct training programs or participate in training medical and nursing students and other workers in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

Physical Facilities Director

Develops and implements programs to maximize the utilization of facility assets. Develops short- and long-range facility utilization plans for facilities. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a technical area such as architecture, engineering, or related field and five years of related management experience.: Establishes policies, procedures, programs, and budgets to assure effective maintenance of the facility in accordance with regulatory requirements. Serves as a liaison between the end user and the principle processes of operations and maintenance, engineering, energy, and physical safety. Manages and oversees design development for remodeling or build out space with consultants and internal resources. Plans and oversees moves and ensures correct code compliance. Ensures that new or remodeled office spaces are complete with appropriate phone service and furniture and that janitorial services are adequate. Assists with lease acquisition and/or negotiation. Develops and implements policies and building standards for external resources assisting with projects. Maintains space and furniture/equipment inventories. Reviews and recommends space standards. Hires, trains, and motivates a qualified maintenance staff.
