Oncology Executive

Provides leadership in administration, technical direction, and long range planning for the Radiation Oncology Department. This is the top non-physician administrative position within oncology.: Manages the delivery of all radiation oncology services to hospital patients. Coordinates and directs the operational, financial and staffing activities of oncology units. Ensures that quality oncology services are provided in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates outcomes of the department’s strategic plans. Performs regular data analysis of departmental cost reports to identify variances so that areas of focus may be identified and resources may be appropriately deployed. Works closely with the Radiologist (M.D.) to ensure that oncology services are provided in an efficient and effective manner. Prepares and manages the departmental budget. Hires, develops and motivates a qualified department staff. Develops policies and procedures, directs technologists and non-technical staff, and ensures adequate staffing for the department. This position requires certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with a minimum of five years of management experience in radiation oncology.

Oncology Nurse

Provides assistance to physician or surgeon in the examination of oncology patient. Provides professional patient care during biopsies. Monitors patients after operations. Requires RN license.: Handles outpatient record keeping. Evaluates, plans, and documents the oncology patient nursing process.

Nurse Oncology

Provides assistance to physician or surgeon in the examination of oncology patient. Provides professional patient care during biopsies. Monitors patients after operations. Requires RN license.: Handles outpatient record keeping. Evaluates, plans, and documents the oncology patient nursing process.

Medical Nurse Oncology

Provides assistance to physician or surgeon in the examination of oncology patient. Provides professional patient care during biopsies. Monitors patients after operations. Requires RN license.: Handles outpatient record keeping. Evaluates, plans, and documents the oncology patient nursing process.

Lactation RN

Develops, implements and educates patients, families, and staff on proper breast feeding techniques and lactation.: Provides consultation and instruction in basic breast feeding routines and techniques to new mothers, both inpatient and outpatient. Provides support and problem solving to patients experiencing feeding difficulty with infants. This position typically requires a valid license as a Registered Nurse and is typically certified by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). Provides instruction, written information and demonstration of the use of various types of breast pumps and other devices. Schedules outpatient visits and provides consultation for breast feeding problems following discharge. Documents nursing interventions, patient response, effectiveness and complications. Prepares equipment and educates patient and family in proper use. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents. Documents treatments and assessments in the patient’s medical record. May conduct breast-feeding education classes to the community.

Director Volunteer Services

Directs activities of volunteers and workers offering their services to hospitals, social service, and community agencies. Assigns workers to various services with hospital or agency. Typically this position is the first level of supervision over subordinate staff.: Confers with administrative staff to plan volunteer program consistent with needs of institution or agency. Recommends establishment of policies and procedures for in-service training, work hours, and types of service to be performed by volunteers. Secures services of volunteer workers. Organizes classes of instruction for volunteers to teach procedures and techniques. Suggests and directs projects to be carried out by volunteer workers. Conducts surveys to evaluate effectiveness of volunteer service program. Arranges for recognition of volunteers for their services.

Medical Ambulatory Services Director

Directs the programs and staff of the ambulatory services department, which administers health services to individuals who do not require hospitalization or institutionalization. Responsible for business development, budget, quality improvement, human resource management, and recruiting and training of department staff. This position typically requires a four-year college degree plus additional job-related training and/or experience.: Establishes and implements approved standards and guidelines. Keeps current on innovations and trends in ambulatory services. Monitors patient progress and working relationships with physicians and community agencies.

Director Medical

Directs, plans, and coordinates activities of employees engaged in medical services. Position requires extensive experience as a medical doctor. Typically reports to Hospital Administrator and advises Hospital Administrator on matters related to medical services.: Interprets company policy to employees and enforces medical services and safety regulations. Advises staff and supervisors on administrative changes. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of medical service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency. Assists medical officials in preparation of department budget. Conducts specified classes and provides training material to assist in student training program. Interprets, prepares, and distributes statistical data regarding department operations. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
