Oversees the Child Life Program in a college or university that prepares students to work with children and families within a healthcare setting or pursue a higher academic education. Directs an academic program that trains students to help patients and families cope with the fear, anxiety, and separation from home and school associated with a child's hospital stay.: Plans, develops, and implements the program to ensure quality educational experiences. Prioritizes, schedules, oversees, and evaluates the work of others in the Child Life Program. Develops and administers the program budget. Provides leadership in teaching, scholarship, and professional practice. Oversees academic planning, ongoing development, and evaluation of the Child Life Program. Develops and maintains Child Life Program relationships both within the department and within the community. Develops and coordinates the use of educational facilities and clinical resources. Recruits faculty for employment and assists with classroom and clinical performance reviews of faculty. Develops, evaluates, and revises student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies. Collaborates with the Chair of the Department to schedule and staff courses as necessary. Assists Child Life Program graduates who are seeking employment and maintains post graduation data about them. May teach assigned classes. May recruit students and participate in the admissions process. May monitor and support students' academic progress throughout the program. May arrange and oversee collaborations with hospitals where students' internships occur.
Plans, develops, and implements Employee Assistance products and services. Manages activities within Employee Assistance Programs which assist employees and their immediate families when personal, social, or environmental difficulties exist which predispose illness or interfere with the employee's job performance. Typically requires a master's degree in social services with five years of employee assistance program experience.: Directs the Employee Assistance Program operation to include hiring, developing, and motivating staff and developing and overseeing the departmental budget. Establishes linkage with community and statewide resources. Develops and markets EAP products and services. Conducts training sessions on a variety of topics including Employee Assistance Programs, chemical dependency/alcoholism, and stress management. Assists in the design and implementation of mechanisms for evaluating utilization of service, client satisfaction, supervisor satisfaction, and program efficacy. Compiles statistical information for monthly and annual reports.
Develops, implements, and promotes various health education and screening programs for employees and the community. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise science, or a related discipline.: Guides and oversees program activities designed to benefit the health and well being of employees and the community. Provides health education in programs to include physical fitness, weight reduction, alternative medicine, stress management, and smoking cessation. Recommends changes or additions to the program to reflect changing needs of employees. Coordinates special events and seminar programs in support of specific life style changes that may affect individual health. Conducts individual consultations and group seminars on health-related issues.
Provides leadership and serves as a primary contact for an assigned program, often as part of a foundation or nonprofit organization. Coordinates and participates in program administration, policy development, program assessment, competition management, financial oversight, and budget management. Reports to the Program Director.: Reviews submitted proposals, evaluating them for soundness of project design and adequacy of program evaluation and sustainability. Develops resources to expand and sustain the program. Identifies policy issues and makes appropriate recommendations to senior management. Prepares assessment reports from archival and operational data. Conducts site visits for program evaluation. Conducts appropriate research, including recruitment and oversight of contractors, for ongoing program evaluation and new program development. Develops new procedures in concert with other departments in response to changes in organizational, departmental, or program needs. Participates in the design and evaluation of program initiatives, surveys, and analyses of program activities, as well as the development and presentation of materials for those evaluating the program. Prepares competition-related publications and web-based materials, including program announcements. Leads the development and administration of financial information systems. Manages the collection and review of financial reports, reviews policy issues raised by expenditures, responds to related queries, and prepares summary reports. Reviews, analyzes, and approves requests for budget amendments and no cost extensions. Collaborates with others in conducting and responding to audits. May develop and implement grant-making strategies.
Interviews, examines, and evaluates qualifications of applicants for teaching positions in public school system, using guidelines established by school district and state education licensing codes: reviews and evaluates construction of written examinations to ensure that questions meet district's testing standards. Confers with other members of staff in order to coordinate district's teacher recruiting efforts. Reviews transcripts and interviews candidates to ascertain qualifications for positions within district. Corrects and scores essay portions of examinations, utilizing knowledge of teaching methods. Authorizes preparation of paper work assigning teaching candidates to positions. Analyzes reports and statistical data on criteria used to select, examine, and recruit teaching staff to ensure that methods conform to predetermined policies, standards, and codes, and recommends procedure revisions as needed. Informs candidates of employment possibilities within district. May evaluate qualifications of candidates applying for other certificated positions within district.
Tests, calibrates, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards, and assists in formulating calibration standards. Companies prefer at least a two-year associate's degree in engineering technology with college courses in science, engineering, mathematics, and courses in field of specialty; however, some companies may accept equivalent education and experience combined.: Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments and equipment, according to blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and other specifications. Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment. Disassembles instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects components for defects. Measures parts for conformity with specifications, using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments. Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts and circuitry. Reassembles and calibrates instruments and equipment. Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations. Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.
Tests ability of gas meters to accurately measure specified volume of gas at maximum and average cubic-feet-per-hour capacity and adjusts meters to correct excessive registration error: connects hoses from prover to meter inlet and outlet and raises prover bell until prover gauge registers zero. Turns valve to allow measured amount of air or gas to pass through meter at specified flow-rate. Closes valve and compares registration on meter gauge. Screws fitting into meter outlet to retard flow of gas and repeats test. Turns setscrews to adjust meter and repeats test until meter registration is within specified limits according to prover and meter gas readings. Analyzes test results to determine cause of persistent registration errors. Segregates meters requiring repair. Records test results and date on meter card. May maintain temperature of oil used as gas seal in prover within specified limits to ensure accurate and uniform test readings. May test ability of flowmeters to accurately measure gas and liquid and be designated flowmeter test and certification technician.
Coordinates activities of amusement park educational department to present educational scripts during animal performances: reviews educational materials to gather information for scripts. Confers with animal trainer to verify format of performance, and writes script to coincide with performance, or reviews scripts prepared by department researchers for suggested changes in format. Prepares brochures containing information, such as time of performances, theme of performances, and map of park facilities. Reads reservation log to determine information, such as name of visiting groups, size of groups, and time of arrival. Greets visitors, passes out brochures, answers questions, and escorts visitors to site of performance. May introduce trainer to audience and present memorized script during performance over speaker system and be designated narrator.
