Credit Analyst Clerk

Analyzes paying habits of customers who are delinquent in payment of bills and recommends action: reviews files to select delinquent accounts for collection efforts. Evaluates customer records and recommends that account be closed, credit limit reduced or extended, or collection attempted, based on earnings and savings data, payment history, and purchase activity of customer. Confers with representatives of credit associations and other businesses to exchange information concerning credit ratings and forwarding addresses. Interviews customers in person or by telephone to investigate complaints, verify accuracy of charges, or to correct errors in accounts bill adjuster.

Promotes and develops the involvement of the Credit Control Department in sales and marketing activities. Investigates and reconciles customer accounts using weekly and monthly reports. Inputs daily cash received, ensuring all systems accurately reflect the financial position of the relevant accounts. Manages refunds and credits and sends copy invoices and write-offs where applicable. May visit customers to resolve problems and promote cooperation.

Credit & Collection Manager

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in conducting credit investigations and collecting delinquent accounts of customers. Assigns workers, directly or through subordinate supervisors, responsibility for investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, preparing documents to substantiate findings, and recommending rejection or approval of applications. Assigns responsibility for investigation of fraud cases and possible legal action and collection for worthless checks and delinquent bills. Typically reports to a director and may have supervisors reporting to this position.: Establishes credit limitations on customer account. Reviews collection reports to ascertain status of collections-and-balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures. Audits delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible to ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad-debt status to account. Coordinates with others, including personnel in company branches and credit card companies, to exchange information and update controls. May submit delinquent accounts to attorney or outside agency for collection. May compile and analyze statistical data on fraudulent use of credit cards to develop procedures designed to deter or prevent use of cards. May specialize in credit and collection activities for credit cards.

Typically reports to a director.: Reviews and evaluates applications, substantiated data, and recommendations, in order to determine credit validity. Establishes credit limitations on customer's account. Reviews collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.

Credit Supervisor

Supervises activities of those engaged in conducting credit investigations and collecting delinquent accounts of customers of commercial establishment, department store, bank, or similar establishment. Supervises personnel investigating and verifying financial status and reputation of prospective customers applying for credit, preparing documents to substantiate findings, and recommending rejection or approval of applications. Assigns responsibility for collecting on worthless checks and delinquent bills to specific staff members. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Reviews and evaluates applications, substantiated data, and recommendations in order to determine credit validity. Establishes credit limitations on customer's account. Reviews collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
