Top Engineering Officer

Plans, develops, directs, and oversees all planning and implementation of practices, policies, programs, procedures, and personnel activities of an organization's engineering efforts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, design, modify, and improve company products and/or services; design testing and maintenance of production processes, machinery, and/or equipment; design and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and physical layout; reliability improvements; cost engineering; construction and engineering project management; and other related activities. Reviews, approves, and coordinates product and process changes to maintain or improve cost/benefit ratio. Assesses working conditions to ensure compliance with all regulations and safety standards.

Administrative Engineering Director

Directs administrative engineering staff, scheduling, coordinating, and planning. Organizes and coordinates various sections of engineering. Directs planning and establishing of engineering schedules and follows up performance against estimates. Typically reports to Engineering Top Officer and Administrative Engineering Manager reports to this position.: Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary. Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements. Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project, such as technical studies, design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and testing, in accordance with engineering disciplines of staff. The manager level is typically the second level of management and may have first level supervisors reporting to this position; however, in smaller companies the manager may be a first level supervisor over subordinate staff.: Reviews plans for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. Directs integration of technical activities and products. Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget. Prepares interim and completion project reports.

Construction Engineer

Leads the development of construction engineering projects. Supports the construction engineering projects throughout the organization. Performs tasks including client/project development, resource management, and supervision management of construction administration activities including construction inspection, testing, and contract administration.: Collaborates on construction projects throughout the organization as part of construction engineering teams consisting of surveyors, inspectors, material tester, and support personnel. Designs protocols for the necessary work and peer review for quality control purposes. Works with necessary agencies for acquiring needed permits and approvals. Assists in the development of corporate design standards. Assists in managing and coordinating preliminary sites or building analysis for construction projects. Applies advanced construction engineering techniques and plans, organizes, and supervises the construction management work of construction projects. Manages the General Contractor, subcontractor, Architect, testing agency, and other project participants in the successful execution of design, schedule, cost, and quality aspects of construction projects. Uses CAD and other personal computer software packages typically associated with construction projects. Communicates with upper management and customers to ensure timely coordination and proper status of assigned construction projects. Works with the Construction Engineering Director and Manager to identify resources needed to address project issues and to interface with program and/or planning personnel in transitioning management responsibility for projects that are leaving the design phase and entering the construction phase. Exercises technical expertise in the construction engineering field and monitors project activities related to site work. Employs exceptional construction engineering knowledge with possible specialization in mechanical and electrical equipment and instrumentation.

Construction Foreman

Coordinates and oversees activities of workers engaged in construction, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures. Examines blueprints to determine dimensions of structure. Lays out floor plan and cabinetwork, using rule, framing square, and calipers. Selects materials and structural units and inspects them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code and local ordinance. Determines sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure. Assigns workers to such tasks as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring. This is typically a first level supervisory position and requires previous experience as a craft worker.: Inspects work performed by subcontractors, including ductwork, wiring, and pipe installations, to ensure conformance with specifications. Installs doors, builds stairs, and lays hardwood floors.
