Auditing Director

Oversees and directs the management, delivery, and provision of audits to ensure that all business risks are anticipated, recognized, and appropriately managed before they can adversely affect the organization. Reviews business processes and financial practices organization-wide to ensure the use of compliant Best Practices, procedural efficiency, and accuracy. Identifies risks or weaknesses within the business unit being reviewed and develops recommendations.: Prepares reports of audit findings for managers, recommends changes, and participates consultatively in implementing changes. Leads discussions with senior management regarding audit planning and reviews. Serves as a liaison to external auditors. Interacts with regulatory agencies by providing information on internal audit issues and procedures. May serve as high-level technical expert or lead a team to conduct selected audits.

Auditing Manager Internal

Manages auditors conducting independent protective and constructive audits for management to review effectiveness of controls, financial records, and operations. Participates in the design and implementation of company audit procedures. Establishes systems and standards for conducting audits. Reviews records of functions audited to ensure proper recording of transactions and compliance with applicable laws. Typically reports to director level or above and may have supervisors reporting to this position.: Inspects accounting systems to determine their accuracy, efficiency, and protective value. Reviews records pertaining to material assets, such as equipment, buildings, or manpower to determine degree to which they are utilized. Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud, or lack of compliance with management's established policies or procedures. Develops audit programs for specific audits. Conducts special studies for management. Prepares reports of findings and makes recommendations to upper management.

Auditor Top

Develops, directs, and administers the organization's internal audit program system and procedures to determine the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of records, and efficiency of operations. Monitors company operations and each financial system and evaluates their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with internal corporate policies and procedures and external laws and government regulations. Typically reports to Financial Top Officer or Operations Top Officer and supervises directors and/or managers.: Measures and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of business practices and operations, the reliability of financial reporting, the process for deterring and investigating fraud, and the safeguarding of company assets. Examines and evaluates the organization's financial and information systems, management procedures, and managerial and internal controls to ensure records and controls are accurate. Analyzes and recommends business improvements and ways to better execute the organization's responsibilities. Recommends controls for organization's computer system to ensure reliability of the system and integrity of the data. Provides counsel and advice to management regarding implications of audit findings, and recommends appropriate corrective measures.

Internal Auditing Manager

Compiles and maintains medical records of patients of health care delivery system to document patient condition and treatment. Reviews medical records for completeness and to abstract and code clinical data, such as diseases, operations, procedures, and therapies, using standard classification systems. : Compiles medical care and census data for statistical reports on types of diseases treated, surgery performed, and use of hospital beds, in response to inquiries from law firms, insurance companies, and government agencies. Maintains and utilizes variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems. Operates computer to process, store, and retrieve health information. Assists Medical Records Administrator in special studies or research as needed. May code medical records for reimbursement purposes.

Compliance and Coding Specialist

Monitors and implements compliance procedures covering the privacy of access to patient health information. Reviews medical records for completeness and to abstract and code clinical data, such as diseases, operations, procedures, and therapies, using standard classification systems. Typically exists in a health plan or within a medical facility or institution. Typically requires the equivalent of an associate's degree and two to three years of related compliance experience and training in CPT and ICD-9 coding.: Coordinates all internal and external changes associated with products or services to assure legal compliance with regulatory guidelines. Conducts regular compliance audits and investigates/resolves complex compliance issues. Compiles medical care and census data for statistical reports on types of diseases treated, surgery performed, and use of hospital beds, in response to inquiries. Develops and maintains an organized, methodical documentation system for communicating, implementing, and managing new and existing regulatory requirements. Establishes and administers a process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on complaints concerning privacy policies and fraud concerns. Organizes and maintains files of contracts, records, and correspondence. Maintains and utilizes variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems. Operates computer to process, store, and retrieve health information. Prepares, proofreads, and distributes reports, correspondence, forms, etc., of a specialized and confidential nature. May assist in the development of contracts and procedures to ensure compliance. May also develop, implement, coordinate, and monitor a fraud and abuse compliance program. May deal with patient/client files and other patient/client specific information of a confidential nature.

Coding File Clerk

Classifies materials according to subject matter and assigns numbers or symbols from predetermined coding system to facilitate accurate filing and reference: scans correspondence, reports, drawings, and other materials to be filed to determine subject matter. Ascertains specified number or symbol, using code book or chart, and marks or stamps code on material. Assigns cross-indexing numbers if subject matter should be classified and filed under more than one heading. May revise coding system to improve code usage.

Control Clerk Auditing

Maintains audit-control files, assigns insurance cases to field auditors, and compiles reports of audits accomplished: assigns insurance cases to field auditors for investigation or settlement according to designated territory and type of audit, following established procedures. Maintains card control files to indicate location and status of audits. Reviews audit reports and compares reports with data in files to compile production reports, using calculator and typewriter.
