Clinical Pharmacist

Responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services support for formulary development and maintenance, pull-through development and drug information services.: This position requires completion of Pharmacy D. degree or BS degree in pharmacy and clinical training and experience. Writes, coordinates and presents evaluations of drugs. Reviews prescriptions issued by physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed. Provides clinical support for updating the formulary’s clinical guideline sections. Creates formulary groupings and new charts and graphs for the clinical and drug listing sections. Prepares, reviews and revises physician reference sheets. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Performs literature searches and analyzes data to answer questions surrounding drug therapy. Provides clinical material for newsletter, including formulary notification items. Presents and coordinates educational programs. Ensures that pharmacotherapy treatment recommendations in the disease management program are consistent with formulary initiatives. May instruct interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy, or teach in college of pharmacy.

Clinical Research Nurse

Coordinates and participates in clinical research studies conducted by physicians. Plans, coordinates, evaluates and manages nursing care of participants and data for assigned research projects. Follows study-specific protocol guidelines and communicates and interacts with investigators, hospital staff, sponsoring agencies, and others to effectively perform clinical research and coordinate research activities. : Ensures that patient treatment provided by primary care personnel and data collected adhere to study protocol. Screens patients for inclusion in study based on pre-determined criteria. Maintains inventory of unique drugs and supplies needed for study. Provides basic patient care and treatment as requested by Physician. Obtains patient blood samples, cultures, tissues, and other specimens for laboratory analysis. Initiates drug orders and laboratory studies for patients based on standing protocol orders. Provides direction and training to nursing staff on techniques for mixing and administering new drugs and other forms of patient care and treatment unique to the study being conducted. Maintains interface with nursing and other professional staff to interpret protocol application for patient and to answer questions about the study in progress. Confers with patient and attending Physician to explain purpose of study and obtain written consent for patient to participate. Explains diagnostic procedures and method of treatment to alleviate patient and family concern. Collects information and data from patient charts and records, patient interviews, and other sources. Evaluates and interprets collected data and prepares protocol summary forms, statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Confers with Physician in developing plans and protocols for clinical research studies and to discuss the interpretation of results and the preparation of manuscripts for publication. Reviews journals, abstracts, and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments and to obtain information regarding previous studies to aid in the planning of new studies.

Clinical Psychologist

Administers programs of treatment to mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals to help them with adjustments to their lives; helps medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries; assists in treating rehabilitation patients; and treats individuals in times of personal crisis, such as a divorce or death of a loved one. Interviews patients and studies medical and social case histories. Diagnoses or evaluates mental and emotional disorders of individuals, and administers programs of treatment. Typically requires a doctoral degree in field of specialty.: Observes patients and selects, administers, and interprets intelligence, achievement, interest, personality, and other psychological tests to diagnose disorders and formulate plans of treatment. Treats psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing various psychological techniques, such as milieu therapy, psychodrama, play therapy, and hypnosis. Selects approach to use in individual therapy, such as directive, non-directive, and supportive therapy, and plans frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy. May collaborate with Psychiatrist and other specialists in developing treatment programs for patients. May instruct and direct students serving psychological internships in hospitals and clinics. May develop experimental designs and conduct research in the fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders. May serve as a consultant to industrial, social, educational, welfare, and other agencies on individual cases or in evaluation, planning, and development of mental health programs. May specialize in behavior problems and therapy, crime and delinquency, group therapy, individual diagnosis and therapy, mental deficiency, objective tests, projective techniques, or speech pathology.

Clinical Systems Specialist

Develops and identifies solutions for database systems and plans their implementation. Determines database development and maintenance for research projects from a data architecture standpoint and coordinates the provision of data and programming support. Contributes to the design aspects of data collection, management, and analysis.: Reviews project proposals for errors and/or omissions and suggests alternative solutions. Determines feasibility of programming requests and evaluates systems overhead of proposed development. Recommends changes to improve system efficiency and lower costs. Performs data integrity and statistical analyses on databases. Performs quality control checks on databases. Plans, programs, and performs procedures for electronic capture of data. Researches and recommends hardware, software, and network solutions by tracking industry developments. Develops procedures and maintains up-to-date documentation of information system for technical personnel. Coordinates and plans efforts of data/systems support staff. Trains other staff members as needed.

Supervisor Clinical Engineering

Oversees planning, implementing, directing, and controlling activities, operations, and programs in the Clinical Engineering department. Typically requires a college degree and technical proficiency/knowledge of concepts, operation, repairs, and clinical equipment maintenance that may be acquired through three years of related clinical engineering experience.: Develops routine periodic maintenance, quality assurance testing, calibration, performance criteria, and emergency service response that will ensure safe and proper use of clinical equipment. Provides clinical engineering training and monitors employee work to ensure proper maintenance and of clinical equipment. Plans, organizes, and distributes the department work assignments. May order supplies and maintain supply inventory

OB/GYN Clinical Nurse

Provides professional nursing care for patients in the obstetrical and gynecological departments. Performs total patient care in the labor room, delivery room, postpartum unit, and nursery. Requires RN license.: Administers prescribed medications. Maintains patients' medical records. Assists physician during treatments, examinations, and surgical procedures. Evaluates, plans, and documents the delivery room nursing process as needed.

Clinical Nurse Specialist

Advises hospitals, schools of nursing, industrial organizations, or public health groups on problems related to nursing activities and health services. Position is a clinical specialist or consultant requiring comprehensive specialized health and medical care knowledge. This position typically requires advanced study in the field of nursing or health sciences. Requires RN license.: Reviews and suggests changes in nursing organization and administrative procedures. May have broad hospital-wide activities. May aid schools in planning nursing curriculums. May aid hospitals and public health nursing services in developing and carrying out staff education programs.

Skilled Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant

Assists nurses by performing various basic care activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients in a skilled nursing facility. Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care in a skilled nursing facility by performing the following functions for patients: dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, taking vital signs, providing oral care, providing nail care, providing catheter care, answering call lights, assisting patients in wheel chairs, transporting patients, turning bedridden patients, reporting patient changes, filling linens, and taking out trash. This position typically requires completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Certification program.: Assists nurses by performing various basic care activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients in a skilled nursing facility. Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care in a skilled nursing facility by performing the following functions for patients: dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, taking vital signs, providing oral care, providing nail care, providing catheter care, answering call lights, assisting patients in wheel chairs, transporting patients, turning bedridden patients, reporting patient changes, and filling linens. This position typically requires completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Certification program. Promptly answers patient call bells. Bathes and dresses bed patients, combs hair, and otherwise attends to their comfort and personal appearance. Cleans room and changes bed linen. Takes and records temperature, pulse, and respiration rate. Gives medication as directed by Physician or Nurse and makes notation of amount and time given. Gives enemas, douches, massages, and alcohol rubs. Applies hot and cold compresses and hot water bottles. Sterilizes equipment and supplies, using germicides, sterilizer, or autoclave and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Observes patients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel. Prepares food trays, feeds patients, and records food and liquid intake and output. May give injections.
