Responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services support for formulary development and maintenance, pull-through development and drug information services.: This position requires completion of Pharmacy D. degree or BS degree in pharmacy and clinical training and experience. Writes, coordinates and presents evaluations of drugs. Reviews prescriptions issued by physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed. Provides clinical support for updating the formulary’s clinical guideline sections. Creates formulary groupings and new charts and graphs for the clinical and drug listing sections. Presents and coordinates educational programs. Ensures that pharmacotherapy treatment recommendations in the disease management program are consistent with formulary initiatives. May instruct interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy, or teach in college of pharmacy.

Medical Pharmacist

Dispenses and compounds prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care, according to professional standards and State and Federal legal requirements. Reviews prescriptions issued by physician, or other authorized prescriber, to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed. : Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes, such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals. Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Enters data, such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory. May assay medications to determine identity, purity, and strength. May instruct interns and other medical personnel on matters pertaining to pharmacy, or teach in college of pharmacy. May work in hospital pharmacy.

Medical Clinical Specialist

Interprets and implements quality assurance standards in clinical area or hospital to ensure quality care to patients. Ensures appropriate care is provided to patients. Reviews quality assurance standards, studies existing policies and procedures, and interviews personnel and patients to evaluate effectiveness of quality assurance program. May report to Quality Assurance Head Hospital or a similar high-level position. Position typically requires a bachelor's degree in the field of nursing.: Serves as a professional resource to nursing staff. Writes quality assurance policies and procedures. Reviews and evaluates patients' medical records, applying quality assurance criteria. Selects specific topics for review, such as problem procedures, drugs, high volume cases, high risk cases, or other factors. Compiles statistical data and writes narrative reports summarizing quality assurance findings. May review patient records, applying utilization review criteria, to determine need for admission and continued stay in hospital. May oversee personnel engaged in quality assurance review of medical records.

Nuclear Pharmacist

Dispenses and compounds prescribed radioactive materials for use in nuclear medicine procedures, according to professional standards and state and federal regulatory requirements.: Obtains the desired radioactive material, either from a manufacturer, or from an in house generator system. Dispenses radioactive materials to a hospital, specialty clinic, or other nuclear medicine departments where the radiopharmaceutical will be administered to the patient. Provides drug information to other health professionals to aid the nuclear medicine staff in the selection of products and to assist in the interpretation of unusual studies. Uses procedures that minimize radiation exposure to themselves and to others. Reviews and monitors medication therapy and orders written by appropriate caregivers for safety and effectiveness considering specific patient conditions and health status. Maintains appropriate records of dispensing and oversees and maintains the systems that charge or credit for medications and medication treatments. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Ensures that proper documentation is completed for all medications. Maintains all equipment and systems used in the preparation, oversight and dispensing of medications. Ensures that appropriate medications are available, ordered, prepared, stored and maintained. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, certification or completion of an accredited clinical residency program, a current license, and training on the various radiopharmaceuticals that are used as well as training on the safe handling of radioactive materials. This position may be found in various work settings to include hospital, medical clinic, retail pharmacy, or mail order pharmacy.

Pharmacist Assistant

Mixes and dispenses prescribed medicines and pharmaceutical preparations in absence of or under supervision of pharmacist: compounds preparations according to prescriptions issued by medical, dental, or veterinary officers. Pours, weighs, or measures dosages and grinds, heats, filters, or dissolves and mixes liquid or soluble drugs and chemicals. Procures, stores, and issues pharmaceutical materials and supplies. Maintains files and records and submits required pharmacy reports.

Staff Pharmacist Retail-Satellite

Dispenses and compounds prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care, according to professional standards and state and federal legal requirements in a retail or satellite pharmacy.: Reviews and monitors medication therapy and orders written by appropriate caregivers for safety and effectiveness considering specific patient conditions and health status. Prepares labels and dispenses medications for patients in accordance with physicians' prescriptions and in compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulations pertaining to the dispensing of drugs and narcotics and the maintenance of required records. Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes, such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Maintains appropriate records of dispensing and oversees and maintains the systems that charge or credit for medications and medication treatments. Supervises pharmacy workers who assist in mixing, packaging, labeling and dispensing pharmaceuticals. Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Provides drug information and educates caregivers and patients regarding medications and their proper use and monitoring. Monitors all aspects of the medication process, collects data and presents reports and recommendations regarding issues with medication systems. Ensures that proper documentation is completed for all medications, with particular attention on controlled substances. Maintains all equipment and systems used in the preparation, oversight and dispensing of medications. Ensures that appropriate medications are available, ordered, prepared, stored and maintained. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and certification or completion of an accredited clinical residency program. A current license is also required. May analyze medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.

OB/GYN Clinical Nurse

Provides professional nursing care for patients in the obstetrical and gynecological departments. Performs total patient care in the labor room, delivery room, postpartum unit, and nursery. Requires RN license.: Administers prescribed medications. Maintains patients' medical records. Assists physician during treatments, examinations, and surgical procedures. Evaluates, plans, and documents the delivery room nursing process as needed.

Psychologist Clinical

Administers programs of treatment to mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals to help them with adjustments to their lives; helps medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries; assists in treating rehabilitation patients; and treats individuals in times of personal crisis, such as a divorce or death of a loved one. Treats psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing various psychological techniques, such as milieu therapy, psychodrama, play therapy, and hypnosis. Selects approach to use in individual therapy, such as directive, non-directive, and supportive therapy, and plans frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy. May collaborate with Psychiatrist and other specialists in developing treatment programs for patients. May instruct and direct students serving psychological internships in hospitals and clinics. May develop experimental designs and conduct research in the fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders. May serve as a consultant to industrial, social, educational, welfare, and other agencies on individual cases or in evaluation, planning, and development of mental health programs. May specialize in behavior problems and therapy, crime and delinquency, group therapy, individual diagnosis and therapy, mental deficiency, objective tests, projective techniques, or speech pathology.

Chief Clinical Dietitian

Coordinates all phases of nutritional care and supervises the clinical dietitian staff to provide nutrition services. Coordinates and manages nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education and counseling of hospitalized patients and outpatients in a variety of settings. A degree in nutrition and registration with the American Dietetic Association as a Clinical Dietitian is required for this position with three years of experience as a Clinical Dietitian.: Plans and supervises Clinical Dietitians engaged in providing professional advice on diet therapies, instructing patients and families on nutrition, and evaluating patients' responses to diets. Consults with physician and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patients. Ensures ongoing patient care plans, patient education, and diet instruction. Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical condition of patients and integrates patient's menus with basic institutional menus. Hires, develops, and motivates a qualified clinical dietitian staff. Inspects meals served for conformance to prescribed diets and for standards of palatability and appearance. Instructs patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation. Develops, implements, and maintains department policies and procedures. Plans and coordinates work schedules and daily work load of the clinical dietitians and dietetic interns. May teach nutrition and diet therapy to medical students and hospital personnel. May provide nutrition education programs to outpatient groups.
